Late Friday personnel dump: Scare Force One staffer “resigns”

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 8, 2009 04:48 PM

White House Military Office director Louis Caldera tendered his resignation this afternoon. The NY Daily News has the story.

Here’s the official review of the incident. It does not cover DoD or FAA involvement. The report says “Initial planning” began in “March 2009 or earlier” without specifying who exactly initiated the planning and why. Caldera blames “severe back muscle spasms” and his recent return from a trip to Mexico for his failure to read e-mail concerning the mission. Also: He had a grand total of two email accounts. You can’t expect a crony paper-pusher to keep track of all that!

The White House report blamed “organizational” and “structural ambiguities” for the crony paper-pusher’s incompetence.

The White House also released a photo. Your tax dollars at work.

Caldera’s disappearance under the Obama bus does not and should not end questions about the origin of the p.r. photo-op mission’s request, who participated, how it went down, and where protocol failed. And remember: Someone was planning a second flyover photo-op in Washington, D.C.

Late Friday afternoon personnel/document dumps are business as usual in Washington.

What happened to Hope and Change?

Yes, it’s getting crowded under there:

No sane person can possibly believe B.H. Obama didn’t know about this.

Indeed. Scare Force One was an inside job.

The White House also released a photo.

I finally looked at closer at this photo and it is low quality photo that looks like it was taken by one of the pilots in one of the F-16 escorts, not by a professional White House photographer. You can see in the lower right were it is blacked out from the cockpit and the canopy reflection and the quality of this photo is from some cheap digital camera.

If this was suppose to be an official White House photo op, then where is the official professional photos and who is the suppose professional photographer?

When I saw the videos by people from NY of the planes flying it had the 747 and 2 F-16 and I never saw another plane that would hold a photographer. In case you don’t know F-16 are single seated planes, so where is the photographers plane? I am starting to believe this was not a photo op, but instead a joy ride for friends.

I hope the media does not drop this and demands the passenger manifest and real professional photos, if they are any, actually be release.

    Broadband Connection – $49.95
    Photoshop CS4 – $499.00
    1 Google Image Search – “Statue of Liberty” – 10 min @ $120/hr = $20
    1 Google Image Search – “Air Force One” – 10 min @ $120/hr = $20
    15 minutes on Photoshop @ $120/hr = $30

I’ll save you the $49.95 internet access and let you steal my WiFi if it will save us over 300K in tax dollars.

I hate to keep harping on this because there is a more important aspect to this story, BUT:

The F-16B and F-16D are two-seat variants. There could have been an actual photographer in the back seat of one of those jets.

(There probably wasn’t, hence the more important aspect.)

To those who merely “suspect” that Obama knew about the flight, here are two alternatives — the only two alternatives:

    1) Obama not only knew, and not only requested the flight — he PERSONALLY ordered it; OR
    2) A mid-level White House bureaucrat is able/allowed to order F-16s to fly when and where he likes, and for whatever reason.

    Take your pick.
I’m not particularly happy with either choice, but nobody seems to be very concerned with the seriousness of the second option.

(BTW, I’ll agree that WHMO Director is more than “mid-level” if anyone here can name the last two Directors, and can honestly say they knew who Caldera was before this stunt.)
