Flip-flop watch: Obama will now fight release of “torture” photos

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 13, 2009 12:55 PM

Well, well, well.

Reality bites the White House in the ass, again.

From the administration that was against military tribunals before they were for them and which flip-flopped on a “truth commission” after a public backlash comes the decision to bail on the ACLU and fight the release of detainee “torture” photos after signaling last month that it would distribute them.

WaPo reports on the White House’s newly-discovered “great concern” about the photos.

Allahpundit et al. saw it coming yesterday.

Will Medea Benjamin and the Code Pink screechers be trailing Obama at his next dinner engagement yelling “WAR CRIMINAL” at The Fallen One?

***

Lorie Byrd: “I don’t understand how Obama argues that these pictures would endanger the troops, but that the “torture memos” he released did not. I have to wonder if he now believes he should not have released those memos. If he does regret it, is it because of national security concerns or politics?”

Andy McCarthy yesterday: “If President Obama wanted to refrain from releasing these photos in order to protect the military forces he commands or promote the security of Americans — his two highest obligations as president — he could do so by simply issuing an executive order. The applicable statute expressly allows for it, just as it provides for Congress — now in the firm control of the president and his party — to withhold the photos from disclosure.”

Well?

I would love to find out if this has something to do with Fancy Nancy. I saw BHO speaking on the news, Nancy stood beside him looking sullen, at the ground. As if she had been beaten with a switch. I think she thought she was going to be in charge of the country when BHO was elected, and has had her butt handed to her now. The waterboarding thing really messed her up and I have not seen her mug on the news for a while, she used to love being filmed. I don’t remember a speaker who was filmed more than her.

These photos may have the potential to damage Nancy even more. Maybe, BHO says now, we are even, yeah so you sunk millions of dollars from the DNC in defense attorneys to keep my birth certificate from coming out, if you don’t stop trying to upstage me and pull my strings, i’ll release the photos and more memos stating that you knew. Wonder if Nancy wishes Hillary was pres now?

This needs to be trumpeted LOUD and OFTEN.

If the pictures do get released and jihadis start killing anything near them, their friends the Democrats will OWN this!

After the Danish Cartoon mess or the koran in the toilet lie, anyone who believes the pictures wouldn’t inflame the jihadis is whacked out on LSD-laced Kool-Aid.

Damn! Thanks for the laugh.

Props to the Bamster for flopping the right way on this. I just hope they put up a real fight.

It’s easy to understand the confusion on this. Bubba had Monica, but Urkel has the entire Press corpse.

    Yeah. Meant to.

Still waiting for RSS to to condemn Al Quiada’s butchering captured U.S. prisoners in Iraq, Hamas rocketing civilian areas, Al Quiada’s targeting civilians in open air markets, etc., etc., etc.

    Why not RSS? Why not?

Yes, where is the outrage about beheadings, hanging bodies from bridges, etc? You will never hear it from the left. But if we put a ladybug in a room with a terrorist the left goes bananas! :?

    tbear,

Wrong answer, remember the “contractors” that were hung from the bridge were soldiers of fortune, mercenaries even! Kos said they deserved their fate! No hate over there on that side of course.

Then why are you so afraid of releasing these photos? Why is George Bush Barack Obama making threats to the UK to keep them from revealing the details of Binyam Mohamed? Then why won’t we let Maher Arar get his day in court?

Because 58% of Americans (the sane ones) couldn’t care less about the so-called rights of terrorists. Obama has done the right thing, thankfully.

    Flop…

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/05/15/did-obama-flip-flop-on-military-commissions/

President Barack Obama will announce later today that he will use a revamped military-commission system to resolve the remaining cases of terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay. This comes as no surprise, as the administration has used the Friday-night leak system to prepare the ground for what appears a Friday-afternoon announcement that will get buried in the news cycle. But does this represent a reversal over what Candidate Barack Obama promised? The White House says that Obama always envisioned using a commission system, and that Oceania has always never been at war with Eastasia:

    BIG BRO at work…
