Dance, Nancy, dance

The House GOP conference picks the perfect background music for Nancy Pelosi’s stammering, stuttering and verbal pirouettes: the Nutcracker Suite.

Perfect: Dan Collins dubs it “Dance of the Sugarplum Failure.”

Like a parable comparable to Gyges’ Ring (Plato), Pelosi has proven that absolute power brings out the true nature of the one that wields such authority.

Pelosi’s dishonesty is nothing new, but her role as Speaker of the House underscores it as a liability to the veracity of all Democrats in the presentation of their legislation.

Democrats if they’re serious about wanting what’s best for this country, should realize that Pelosi is now a liability to not only their party but in the representation of America on the world stage, and ask her to resign.

Nacy is doing a great impression of Nathan Thurm:

    Nathan Thurm
This was a character created by Martin Short. A shady lawyer, Thurm was a chain-smoker, quite paranoid, and constantly in denial about his paranoia. “I’m not being defensive. You’re the one who’s being defensive.” When questioned, his catch phrase often included, “It’s so funny to me that you would think…” He would also look into the camera and express his puzzlement at the questioner by asking, “Is it me, or is it him? It’s him, right?” Other times, he would deny an accusation, then immediately reverse his position when the accuser reaffirmed the statement. “No, it isn’t!” (”Yes it is.”) “I know that! Why wouldn’t I know that? I’m well aware of that!”

Perhaps the best known appearance of Thurm was in a 1984 SNL sketch that was a send-up of 60 Minutes. Harry Shearer played Mike Wallace, accusing Thurm of being involved in corporate corruption. Thurm of course denied everything and nervously tried to turn the tables on Wallace.

Even in her telling, the briefers informed her that the enhanced interrogation techniques had been found to be legal. So there was no wrongdoing to cover up. And even by Pelosi’s account, the CIA told one of her aides in a February 2003 briefing that it had used waterboarding, and the aide passed it along to her. It’s pointless to lie to the principal when a few months later you are going to funnel the information to her through a subordinate. I can help but wonder why there are people, like IGM, who think that a highly taxed, government controlled society is the best way to go, today. Is it because they think that they will be exempt? Or, do they live in a fantasy world of utopia? Socialism with a very strong, dominating government has never worked; just brought, eventually, a disaster to the people. Perhaps it is because of feel-goodism that guides them. They look to instant gratification and not to the consequences. I’m 60 now, and was once a long-haired, anti-war, radical liberal of the ’60s. I can excuse kids, being naive and gullible, relying on emotion, because there isn’t any maturity and experience yet. But older people need a wake-up call. The government, today, wants power. That’s it, in a nutshell. To support such a government is to deny oneself of all that previous generations have fought for and learned. Do what I did once. Pick up a good book on the revolution and Constitutional Convention.

    “Waterboarding is torture.”

By whose standards? What did Pelosi Galore have to say about the beheading of Nick Berg and Dan Pearl?

What did any of the moonloonbats have to say about what our enemies have done in the name of a statist religion of Islamic supremacy?

Read the flippin memos moonloonbats! Do some reading of something other than HuffChoad or DailyDross.

The world is passing you by. This administration is a house of cards and shouldn’t be feared. They should be confronted.

Things began to turn when Andrew McCarthy told Eric Holder where he could shove the faux Gitmo deliberations Soetoro planned as a rubber stamp to foist these living wastes onto the very American public Holder and company want to disarm.

Soetoro is going to fall along with many in this Dhimmi gang who KNOW he is a fraud…Howard Dean included. (Sorry, I have a very personal and hateful history with that clown and know he is going to take a high hard one before this power grab is all over.)

Anyways….torture smorture. Lgm is a complete imbecile in his thinking. As are all the rest of them.

    Bear1909 out.

Rep. Lungren pointed out that if the attorney general truly believes “waterboarding is torture,” he must also think we torture our own Navy SEALs and other special-operations personnel when we waterboard them as part of their training. “No . . . not in the legal sense,” countered Holder. You see, said he, it’s “a fundamentally different thing,” because

we’re doing something for training purposes to try to equip them with the tools to, perhaps, resist torture techniques that might be used on them. There is not the intent to do that which is defined as torture — which is to inflict serious bodily or mental harm. It’s for training. It’s different.

But it’s not different because “it’s for training.” Look at the torture statute (Sections 2340 and 2340A of the federal penal code) and try to find a “training” exception. There isn’t one. What removes an act from the ambit of torture (besides lack of severe pain) is intent. Lungren pressed this point, and Holder admitted that the training was “not torture in the legal sense because we’re not doing it with the intention of harming these people physically or mentally.” Intent, he acknowledged, was the key question.
