Lungren pointed out that if the attorney general truly believes “waterboarding is torture,” he must also think we torture our own Navy SEALs and other special-operations personnel when we waterboard them as part of their training. “No . . . not in the legal sense,” countered Holder. You see, said he, it’s “a fundamentally different thing,” because

we’re doing something for training purposes to try to equip them with the tools to, perhaps, resist torture techniques that might be used on them. There is not the intent to do that which is defined as torture — which is to inflict serious bodily or mental harm. It’s for training. It’s different.

But it’s not different because “it’s for training.” Look at the torture statute (Sections 2340 and 2340A of the federal penal code) and try to find a “training” exception. There isn’t one. What removes an act from the ambit of torture (besides lack of severe pain) is intent. Lungren pressed this point, and Holder admitted that the training was “not torture in the legal sense because we’re not doing it with the intention of harming these people physically or mentally.” Intent, he acknowledged, was the key question.

The world is passing you by. This administration is a house of cards and shouldn’t be feared. They should be confronted.

Things began to turn when Andrew McCarthy told Eric Holder where he could shove the faux Gitmo deliberations Soetoro planned as a rubber stamp to foist these living wastes onto the very American public Holder and company want to disarm.

Soetoro is going to fall along with many in this Dhimmi gang who KNOW he is a fraud…Howard Dean included. (Sorry, I have a very personal and hateful history with that clown and know he is going to take a high hard one before this power grab is all over.)

I can help but wonder why there are people, like IGM, who think that a highly taxed, government controlled society is the best way to go, today. Is it because they think that they will be exempt? Or, do they live in a fantasy world of utopia? Socialism with a very strong, dominating government has never worked; just brought, eventually, a disaster to the people. Perhaps it is because of feel-goodism that guides them. They look to instant gratification and not to the consequences. I’m 60 now, and was once a long-haired, anti-war, radical liberal of the ’60s. I can excuse kids, being naive and gullible, relying on emotion, because there isn’t any maturity and experience yet. But older people need a wake-up call. The government, today, wants power. That’s it, in a nutshell. To support such a government is to deny oneself of all that previous generations have fought for and learned. Do what I did once. Pick up a good book on the revolution and Constitutional Convention.

I personally got a lot of pleasure and satisfaction seeing Ms. Pelosi look and sound so incompetent at her latest briefing. And, I noticed that she blamed a staffer for her not being prepared with her notes in order. Same old crap, different day–blame somebody (usually Republicans), blame anybody, but she is never able to man up and admit she lied. Oh yeah, I forget. When liberals lie, it is only that they have “mispoken”.
