This is great news. I’ve been remiss in checking Blackfive, and will strive to correct it.

It’s important to publicly contest some ideas. Lots of pols & mdeia give lip service to honoring vets, but their true attitudes slip out when they let their guard down. John Forbes Kerry is a good example.

Sounds like a good thing. One thing that caught my attention, because I’ve noticed this, too:

Many of you have express[ed] frustration with the current set that attempt[s] to represent veteran issues but seem to have ulterior motives – painting veterans as victims is an easy way to raise money and get media attention.
But what does that do the public’s perception of us?
You all know the answer to that.

I’m glad to hear someone else say that Soldiers are not victims.

I don’t know how much this would or should be an influence on whether or not people would donate to this, but someone should tell Blackfive that contributions to 501(c)(4) entities are generally NOT tax deductible, as he is currently claiming on his donation page. One exception is made for veterans organizations, but that comes with very stringent membership requirements limiting it to vets, whereas he appears to open it to anyone.

It does say that he is applying for both 501(c)(3) and (4) status. Hope he gets (c)(3).

    ALCON-
With all that’s going on, we felt we really needed to have a place to reach-out from in support of ALL of our warriors.
Example- Vet Health Care; Dover; Seymore Hersh at it again (go see Mudville Gazette); and the op-ed this morning on NYT (Bob Herbert’s).

    That’s JUST THIS WEEK!

    Hellooooo!

What made you change your mind, Barry? Why all of a sudden you like our veterans? Although that is a welcome thought, we are honoring the fallen on Memorial Day, not our veterans nor the current men and women in the service. Are you still going to insist you see them in the audience?

If you truly want to honor our fallen heroes, you should stop making it difficult for the living members of our military to do their duty. You ought to be a good CIC. Stop offering our belly to the terrorists and other enemies.
