Since the vote was 90-6 and a Minnesota seat is still up in the air, who were the remaining three who didn't vote?

Little late on this...but CONGRATS sonofdy!!!

Which one did you name after uncle chap?

I do feel it's my duty to point out, however, that when the zombie invasion begins, infant twins will probably slow you down. But don't dwell on that. Enjoy them until they eventually become your downfall.

Split the detainee relocation to Chicago, Iowa, Michigan, Vermont and Rhode Island.

That way Obama can fulfil his promise to close the Gitmo.

Detainees get fair hearing in the US courts.
Allah willing, they may get a US residency and full welfare benefits.
Who knows, with the looming amnesty, they might get legal status and possibility to vote Democrats once the gain citizenship.

And the whole country lives happily ever after.

Pres Obama should have a plan on the detainees will be dealt with, how, and where before Gitmo is closed. He put the cart before the horse on this one.

Despicable!

We had the chance to replace Carl Levin back in 2008 with "conservative" opponent, Michigan state House Representative Jack Hoogendyk, but between the lack of decent reporting from our local ObamaMedia, and the lack of support from the GOP, Jack didn't stand a chance.

As reported about their one debate:
The two differed on last month's rescue plan for the financial industry. Hoogendyk called it bad legislation that puts taxpayers on the hook to save "Wall Street fat cats and big-shot bankers." Levin said his vote to support the bailout wasn't easy, but that "we had to act" to protect the pensions and retirement savings of Michigan families and the free up the credit markets so businesses could borrow money.

Jack didn't get a bit of assistance from Michigan GOP chairman Saul [I love J.M.] Anuzis until the last months of the campaign, yet Saul sure did work his arse off to give us McLame. We didn't even get a single lawn sign, nor any bumper stickers to advertise for him. This is my main reason to stop my contributions to the republican party.

Remember the name. Saul Anuzis is no friend to conservatives.

the Senate voted 90-6 to deny Obama funding for his Gitmo closure plans.

What? Only 6 Senators want to spend a fortune to close a perfectly good prison? I thought the numbers would be much higher than that. Isn't spending billions on a needless project right up their alley?

Have the other 90 Senators even thought of the stimulus that would result from bringing these terrorists into our country? Think of all the new security jobs that would open up just to guard these guys and escort them to and from prison and the courts each day. Then there's all those lawyer jobs that would be created to defend them during years of trials and endless appeals. And think of how the sales of home alarm systems would go way up in areas around the prisons and courts where they will be housed and tried.

The benefits are just too many for such a low risk endeavor. I really think the 6 Senators who voted for closing Gitmo deserve to bring the benefits of all this stimulus to their states first. And second in line should be the "santuary cities" of this country. They have proven themselves unwilling to put the safety of their own citizens above the greater values of social justice and diversity. They, too, should be rewarded.

Now, it's just a rumor that prisons will have to release other inmates to make room. It's just a rumor that these terrorists will spend their time in prison spreading hate and recruiting other inmates to their cause. It's just a rumor that Islamic terrorists and pirates around the world will kidnap Americans and demand the release of their buddies from our prisons. And it's just a rumor that lawyers will act as go-betweens to get messages to and from coconspirators on the outside. (I know messages are just words but even ACLU lawyers wouldn't be that crazy for free speech.)

Baseless rumors are no reason to hold up spending on a totally unnessary project. It didn't stop them from spending Billions on bailouts for failing companies. It didn't stop them from spending Trillions on wasteful Stimulus and Porkulus projects. Now, suddenly they balk at closing Gitmo and building a figurative "bridge from nowhere" to bring the terrorists home? What has become of our Senators today?
