Waxman clueless about his cap&trade bill: “You’re asking me?!”

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 21, 2009 11:10 PM

Democrat Henry Waxman, primary sponsor of the radical cap&trade/national eco-tax bill in the House, can’t answer basic questions about the legislation’s details. And his speed-reader wasn’t around to bring old Waxy up to speed in time to rescue him from this gasbaggy gaffe.

“You’re asking me?”

Funny, I am listening to the aduio book of Atlas Shrugged again and today as I was driving I was figuring out what real person would be each fictional character. There are so many politicians today who could be Mouch.

And then ask them if they know what photosynthesis and cellar respiration is all about?

Impossible, but true: this dork is as stupid as he looks (ad hominem has its place). This is the man who has been ranting that our survival depends on the passage of his pet legislation, despite the reasoned concerns of many credible economists that it will constitute a seriously dangerous impediment to recovery. Some legislators are honest enough to admit its simply a tax scheme to pay for more government. Now, it’s clear Henry doesn’t even know what’s in his damn bill; he admitted it.

Not to worry, however: he has relied upon, ta dah! “SCIENTISTS”. Wow! I feel much better. Never mind that the “scientists” could not agree within themselves; they reached a “consensus”.

They told Henry there is a problem of global warming (Hey, Earwax, the current term is “climate change”; get with the program) and that there is an “impact”. Exactly what sort of impact did most (remember, merely “consensus”) of these scientists agree was a sufficient reason to raise the cost of electricity, gasoline and everything else that has a CO2 component in its production process?

But wait! These scientists are members of the IPCC, so they’re reliable. I should have Googled IPCC, but I’m confident its members are very progressive in their social agenda.

This nation is clearly in the process of defecating its collective gray matter, and Little Henry Waxman is pouring the prune juice down our throat.

This is actually very simple. Waxman represents the hollywood elite. The cap and trade directive is simply a way for those elitists to slap down and destroy the manufacturing industry of the US. This IS their goal!

As for electricity users, the hollywood elitists pride themselves on paying absurd amounts of cash to ‘be off of the grid’. These elitists will not care about rolling blackouts or any energy rationing.

Waxman is simply attempting to implement the delusions of his voters.

The real thugery that needs to be uncovered in all of this, is the power play by the democrats that are having the ‘free’ cap components funnelled to their local industries in order to gain their votes. This cap-and-trade proposal is a major grab of energy resources for ‘special’ businesses and certain labor pools.

Look for the car companies in non-unionized states to be slapped with massive ‘cap’ taxes in order to shut them down for the greater good of the new ‘government motors’.

Also look for no new manufacturers to open any plants in the US. Since ‘new’ manufacturers will receive none of the ‘free’ cap-and-trade credits, it will be impractical start a new production line in the US. Certain ‘favored’ companies, like GE, will be allowed to move their ‘free’ credits from one facility to another, creating a monopoly for themselves.

While there does seem to be the possibility of a major trade war in all of this, more likely it will simply be removed from law, assuming it is ever actually passed. Unlike the various ‘government give aways’ that people feel a need to hand themselves, this kind of legislation can be revoked fairly easily with the right congress and senate. Of course, the cap-and-trade thieves may grab some cash for themselves in the short run, but without controls on imports, companies will simply off shore their ‘carbon intensive’ activities.

We’re seeing the reality of a lot of the North Pole starting to evaporate, and we could get to a tipping point. Because if it evaporates to a certain point – they have lanes now where ships can go that couldn’t ever sail through before. And if it gets to a point where it evaporates too much, there’s a lot of tundra that’s being held down by that ice cap..

WHAAAAAAAT!?! THAT is the most MORONIC thing I have ever heard! And the MORON who said it is ramming a bill through Congress to shackle our economy in order to fix a problem that simply DOES NOT EXIST! U.S. companies and interest groups involved with climate change hired 2,430 lobbyists just last year, up 300% from five years ago. Fifty of the biggest U.S. electric utilities — including Duke — spent $51 million on lobbyists in just six months.

The World Business Summit will hear from “science and public policy leaders” seemingly selected for their scary views of global warming. They include James Lovelock, who believes that much of Europe will be Saharan and London will be underwater within 30 years; Sir Crispin Tickell, who believes that the United Kingdom’s population needs to be cut by two-thirds so the country can cope with global warming; and Timothy Flannery, who warns of sea level rises as high as “an eight-story building.”

American electricity utility Duke Energy, a member of the Copenhagen Climate Council, has long promoted a U.S. cap-and-trade scheme. Yet the company bitterly opposed the Warner-Lieberman bill in the U.S. Senate that would have created such a scheme because it did not include European-style handouts to coal companies. The Waxman-Markey bill in the House of Representatives promises to bring back the free lunch.

To underscore what a TOTAL MORON Henry Waxman really is, consider what he said…

We’re seeing the reality of a lot of the North Pole starting to evaporate, and we could get to a tipping point. Because if it evaporates to a certain point – they have lanes now where ships can go that couldn’t ever sail through before. And if it gets to a point where it evaporates too much, there’s a lot of tundra that’s being held down by that ice cap…

What really makes this hilarious/pathetic is that ice must first melt to create a liquid (above 32 degrees) then it evaporates into steam (above 212 degrees F). Does Waxman actually understand that to evaporate the polar ice caps, we have to reach temps greater that 212F (100C for you Europhiles)?

My guess is he does not know this or believes the worst case scenario of global warming (when our sun supernovas). Wait a minute, now we know the next environmental cause…mankind must research and take steps to prevent a solar supernova, especially since Bush/Cheney/Big Oil are causing it. Responsible liberals will take your remaining dollars after the last tax hike to deal with this.

The only thing we hear Waxman say here is that he “relies on the scientists”. Republicans rely on science too, when it suits their political agenda.

Well that would be a first – Waxman relying on science – because as many KY tobacco growers-producers can tell you, he stayed well away from it during the tobacco hearings, which could have been proven had the media done its job and challenged some of the charges Waxman made at that time.

No I believe he said he relies on scientists…and the consensus that they have…..which is and has always been a total lie. I don’t see Rs running around pulling that sort of stunt.

There isn’t a shred of physical proof to back the theory, and in fact all the physical data actually points to changes in solar activity. For example, the beryllium isotope data clearly shows decreased cosmic rays, implying greater solar radiation, that matches our climate change perfectly.

The IPCC scientists he’s relying on were so ethically challenged that they actually lumped all of the water vapor components of their climate change model under CO2. Water vapor is the most potent greenhouse gas and constitutes a majority of their calculated temperature increases. By lumping water vapor under CO2 it made it look like CO2 was the big cause. It’s basically fraud.

cabreski, Waxman’s hilariously wrong, but I don’t think you’ve got it right, either.

Ice can sublimate, just as frozen CO@ aka “dry ice” does, but at a much slower rate. That’s why you can see a light snowfall disappear over several days even if the air temperature is below freezing, and why you can sometimes see low fog hanging over snowbanks when the air temp rises quickly after a snowfall. And, of course, liquid water evaporates without being boiled.

Oh, one other thing: our sun is way too small to supernova.

    Other than that……

Well, ice does sublimate directly into the air basically bypassing the liquid phase just as frost is the reverse. So yes, all the ice will evaporate some day IF it stays below freezing to stay solid, (hmm.. that would not be ‘global warming’ then would it Mr. Waxman?), and we wait oh say.. guessing 10,000 years (100,000? or a very long time). Consider that Antarctica holds the majority of fresh water on this planet, (80%?), but it is technically a desert getting less precipitation than the Sahara, (less than ~4 inches per year measured as liquid). If loss from sublimation was any factor whatsoever there wouldn’t BE any ice there at all.

The point is that NOBODY ever said the problem with losing ice at either pole was the result of sublimation! He just made that up because he doesn’t have a CLUE what he’s talking about, (“Waiter, give me some more ice please, mine evaporated.”)

If he thinks the arctic ice is sitting on “tundra” then he clearly doesn’t even know that our submarines and others have regularly traveled UNDER the arctic ice via the north pole for over 50 years! I also doubt that he knows what ‘tundra’ is.

Okay, I take back calling him a moron. In regard to science, this man is an imbecile. Can someone from California 30th district PLEASE tell us why you voted for an imbecile? You did it as a joke right? Very funny…
