You can say that again, Mr. President
President Obama tells us this Memorial Day weekend that veterans have not gotten the respect they deserve:
President Barack Obama saluted veterans and urged his countrymen to do the same this Memorial Day weekend, saying the nation has not always paid them proper respect.
In his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday, Obama said people can honor veterans by sending a letter or care package to troops overseas, volunteering at health clinics or taking supplies to a homeless veterans center. He said it could also mean something as simple as saying “thank you” to a veteran walking by on the street.
“We have a responsibility to serve all of them as well as they serve all of us,” Obama said. “And yet, all too often in recent years and decades, we, as a nation, have failed to live up to that responsibility. We have failed to give them the support they need or pay them the respect they deserve.
Who is this “we?” Let’s name names:
Tell it to Janet Napolitano.
Tell it to the Gen. Betray Us smear merchants at Move On.
Tell it to the anti-military academics at Penn State and Columbia and every other ivy-covered institution.
Tell it to the anti-military recruiter thugs on campuses across the country.
Tell it to all the Winter Soldier fakers and phonies .

Quick point: It’s funny how your “your list” portrays all Democrats that served as honorable and uncontroversial, and how there are no Democrats that ever did anything crazy or dishonorable. Here, since you seen to have such influence over the authors of this erroneous diatribe, let me help you with some of your references and research:
Jim Webb (continued)- Served as Secretary of the Navy for one year under Reagan, where he insisted that women had no place in the Navy, offer referring to them by delightful names as Thunder Thighs”. (Now there is a true Democrat role model!) He quit at the first reference of reducing the Tin Can (Destroyer) force, even in light of the technological advances that were shaping Naval warfare.
Bill Clinton (Somehow not mentioned)- Draft dodger
David Bonier (Listed as SSG in you list)- No reference is ever made to his rank on his homepage, nor any of his campaign pages. But, if you do a little Google search, you will find a wonderful reference to a CR (Congressional Record for those not in Washington) where Mr Bonier is tied to SSgt (AF). Unfortunately, that is a typical mistake of a Google amature. You see, Mr Bonier is talking about World Sabbath day in a speech, and Mr McInnis is giving a speech about the death of Henry Salazar, who rose to the rank of Staff Sergent (Army). Since Google pulls references from entire pages, it concatenated what it saw. Hence, it appears that Mr Bonier is the Staff Sergeant referred to in that reference. That is, if you don’t actually read the full CR that Google gives you.
Here’s the hint for you: E-5 in 4 years while never serving in the battle field = next to impossible! Even if entering as E-3, and especially during Vietnam. Amazing how you would point out Bush as not serving, but honor Bonier for essentially the same level of service.
There’s plenty more in evidence, but I think we have put your clearly un-researched and lacking list to bed. Here’s the thing about publishing (or plagiarizing): You need to do your research before you reference.
This only proves that you can never be an author, or a scientist, or an engineer. But hey, chin up little buddy! You qualify for a position as lead researcher at MSNBC, CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.

I have a hard time trying to figure out why anybody that has served in the military would become a democrat.As a veteran I don’t need Obama and his ilk telling Americans how to observe Memorial Day.Hell he won’t even give up his birth certificate in the defense of the presidency.

He read the teleprompter. That is ALL he did. There is no thought to that at all. He merely spoke the words that appeared on the screen as written by someone else. This was not some heartfelt, off the cuff speech. Chances are, he had no idea what he was saying until after he read it.

And don’t forget he was too busy to visit wounded troops in the Green Zone, because he was meeting with Iraqi officials trying to persuade them to delay the SOFA until after the election.

This is a man that refused to wear our flag on his lapel, refused to place his hand over his heart during the National Anthem, and has zero compassion for the inspiration such as the raising of our flag at Iwo Jima, and what that represented to our soldiers. This is a man that attempted to have our Vets pay for their medical care for medical conditions resulting in the fight for freedom.

The man’s dis-repect for individual freedom is pervasive in every action he takes.
American veterans and their families know better, they know his words and his heart are separated, on opposite sides of a battlefield.

You know I’ve been looking for a reason behind that, like some how it would be positive for the veterans, but it is not anywhere. So you get to keep you house. It didn’t make sense at all, to free up money at the VA to provide better services, while making the soldiers pay for them. This leads to insurance companies using their favorite word:DENY.
It didn’t go anywhere though, and both sides of aisle disagreed with it, so it does show who’s looking out for you.( had to use the O’Reilly wording)

Turning Blue Lips’ and his Owner’s manifest disdain for the United States and it’s Military in to an attack on insurance companies is just stupid. No way around it.
Blue Lips’ remarks about “they volunteered for it..” etc.. are revealing on many different levels.
There is no way out of it. No way around it. No excuses. Any President who would even consider such a thing much less actually bring it up in public doesn’t deserve to be in office.
He and his owners have been planning it for a while. He brought it out early in his term to check public reaction. That way, in 2012, the moronic half of the US (the ones that voted for him in general) will have forgotten the comments were ever said.
All of this is planned well in advance. His teleprompter didn’t magically instruct him to make the statement. He and his people truly have no respect for our Veterans. His statements can not be refuted or excused.
“Would be”, but their actions slamming, attacking, accusing the military since their service makes them good little party members.
Funny how the liberals put together their little lists of who served, then point to only them as having absolute moral authority….while attacking those who have supported the military through their deeds, those who served later, or are still serving.

Each of those flags you see in the picture is the actual coffin flag of a veteran that lived in the county. The family members provide those flags to the local VFW, and starting very early in the morning, veterans and volunteers start putting them up at the cemetery and on the streets in town.
In the evening, each of those flags is taken down and returned to the family members.
I believe there are over 700 flags put up.
Each one is mounted on a pole with a bronze marker listing the veteran, rank, and his branch of service.

Yeah, I hate the Donks. I used to be a liberal Democrat, but after hearing them threaten to pull the plug on supplies to our troops sitting in the desert during Desert Storm, where my sister was, I defected (among other reasons, but this was the last straw).
I came to the realization that the Democrat Party does not give a DAMN about our soldiers, and will do anything they want, to the detriment of our country, to win.
At this point, I wouldn’t vote for Jesus Christ if he were a Democrat.

First, I think you are correct in that Obama has no idea what Memorial Day is supposed to be. Second, his words defy his actions that are consistently anti-military, anti-freedom, and anti-American, and he refuses to rebuke those who – following his lead – bring dishonor to those fallen. Finally, considering the memory of those who gave their lives for our nation, it’s disheartening and shameful that we are sitting idly by while a fraudulent President dismantles everything so many gave their lives to protect. This Memorial Day we should mourn that we have allowed the sacrifice of so many to be squandered and rendered utterly meaningless.

I think another thing you should do is look at the quotes made by prominent Democrats about the threat from Saddamm Hussein in 1998 when Clinton was President. Frankly I think I agreed with everyone of them.
Then see the quotations FROM THE SAME people in 2004. The hypocrisy is sickening. I will say this, to his credit, President Clinton has never contradicted his statements from 1998 and has never said Bush lied about Iraq.
I have little time for Bill CLinton, but on this issue, he has been Presidential and has been consistent IMO.
The rest of them, however, have firmly put politics and their party ahead of their country.

Well, rank and file Dems are misinformed. My Dad was a lifelong Dem, growing up in the Depression and serving in the Army Air Force in WW2.
The Dems already had Communist sympathizers in their ranks back then. Henry Wallace was FDR’s Ag Secretary, toured Stalin’s gulag system, and had no problem with it. He was FDR’s VP his third term, party officials, knowing Wallace was a communist sympathizer, angled Harry S Truman into the VP slot for FDR’s fourth term, as his failing health was becoming apparent.
Wallace split from the Dems in 1948, arguing Truman was too hostile to the USSR. George McGovern was a campaign volunteer. Wallace’s campaign manager was a Soviet agent, Wallace knew it, and didn’t care.
Wallace and his ‘Progressive Party’ drew about as much of the vote as another Democrat splinter party, ‘The Dixiecrats’ who split with Truman over modest civil rights reforms. I’m not certain, but I’d guess Grand Kleagle Senator Byrd was probably a ‘Dixiecrat’.
The racists and the communists folded back into the party after losing. The communists, of course, had support from the USSR. After the disasterous Chicago convention, McGovern led a committee to reform party nominating rules, giving activists the inside track. McGovern’s nomination in 1972 was the watershed, the pro-USSR wing of the Dems controlled the party, and over the next thirty years, the Scoop Jackson/Hubert Humphrey anti-communist wing of the party was marginalized. Perhaps as a nod to Gramscian and Alinskyite theory about Marxist revolution in an advanced capitalist and democratic country, the Dems also quickly aligned with pro-abortion forces and militant homosexuals. Al Gore had to perform a miraculous conversion from moderate pro-life Senator from Tennessee to militant abortion rights supporter to seek the nomination in 1988, in 1992, Governor Casey of Pennsylvania was denied a speaking role at the convention that nominated Bill Clinton because he was pro-choice. His son ran as a pro-lifer in PA, then promptly supported Obama’s funding for overseas abortions.
Democrats with principles like Phil Gramm sought nomination as Republicans, and ran as such. Just an interesting compare and contrast to Jeffords and Specter, who ran as Republicans and accepted money and support, then jumped parties.
Not every Democrat is a communist, of course. Byrd has been a Senator for decades, and wants to retire when he chooses. Casey likes being a US Senator. He doesn’t seem bright enough to make that kind of money outside politics. The inner city machines are engines of corruption.
Then, of course, you get politicians like Obama, eager students of communists like Dohrn and Ayers, but also beneficiaries of the corruption of the Cook County Democratic political machine. (Mrs. Obama’s dad was an employee of the machine, and apparently a well paid one, and her Princeton studies suggests she was deeply into racial grievance, another avenue of attack popular with Democrats and communists.)
Now, a lot of the people who voted Obama just knew the NBC/CBS/Newsweak version of a stunning orator (no mention he is useless without a teleprompter), a ‘moderate’, a ‘uniter’.
Obama will do his best to make the US a one party state, a Northern Hemisphere Zimbabwe or Venezuela. The Dems need voter fraud, hence support for same day voting and registration, and attempts in states like mine, Texas, to prevent a requirement for picture ID to vote. Because Obama’s policies, even with a complaint media covering for him, will start really ruining this country by 2012.
Of course, even if a patriot becomes POTUS in 2012, he or she will inherit a decrepit military, an expensive health care entitlement, and a massive government debt and a devalued dollar. Even in defeat, Obama will have met some of the goals of American hating communists who run the Demonratic Party, a permanent weakening of the US in relation to the rest of the world.
If he does win in 2012, then I think it is safe to predict either an Obama presidency for life or one party state like Mexico (which has finally ended) where the President would select his succesor in the PRI party, who would always win.
They DID do this for many of the bills passed, but eventually they got passed, once the dems extorted what they wanted in earmarks.
I would add the Democrat party and all liberals to Obama’s “we”. I remember from Viet Nam days how the democrat/liberal party “supported” the troops. Those same people who spit on returning soldiers, lied about them, and manned the “peace” barricades are in positions of power now. John Kerry comes to mind as just one.
I remember the cancellation of Obama’s planned visit to visit wounded soldiers at the U.S. military’s Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany during his “get some foreign experience tour.”
I think he decided to go shopping instead…
