Bow wow wow: Obama to visit Saudi Arabia
Guess who’s going to hang with Saudi King Abdullah again? Will he stoop even lower than he already has? Will he follow in Saudi-coddling George W. Bush’s footsteps and go for a kiss, hand-hold, or sword dance? Anticipation is building:
US President Barack Obama will visit Riyadh next week for talks with King Abdullah on Middle East peace, Iran and terrorism, on the eve of his long-awaited address to the Muslim world in Egypt.
The visit, which will represent Obama’s first steps in the Middle East as president, will come as he attempts to forge a new approach to revive stalled regional peace talks and tries to prod Iran to the negotiating table.
“The president will meet with his majesty King Abdullah to discuss a range of important issues, including Middle East peace, Iran and terrorism,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said, adding that the talks would take place on the evening of June 3.
“The president believes it’s a chance to discuss a lot of important business and he thought it was a good opportunity to do that,” he said.
Gibbs however said that the decision to make the stop, did not arise out of any specific proposal discussed by Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in their high-stakes talks in Washington last week.
But senior Obama aides have hinted privately that any new US plan could involve an expansion of a 2002 Saudi-inspired peace initiative which several Arab states have been advancing.
The initiative calls for full normalization of relations between Arab states and Israel, a full withdrawal by Israel from Arab land, the creation of a Palestinian state and an “equitable” solution for Palestinian refugees.
Ahead of next week’s trip, which also includes visits to Germany and France for World War II commemorations, Obama will meet Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas on Thursday at the White House.

Why is Odumbo afraid to stay “home” and stick to business? He travels constantly. I know these trips keep him in the news and that is important to him. And I know he loves his new “toy” Air Force One. And I know he loves the exotic food of different countries. But he is the President of the United States…not a roving ambassador. Is he maybe avoiding the red phone? Is it on call forwarding, or is there a message on it to call back later? I have a feeling that his visit in Saudi will be kept behind closed doors so no one will be able to get a picture of his bowing.

And all while we are in such “dire” circumstances when it comes to our economy. Bush did little travelling. He stayed here and tended business. The whole thing about being President is nothing but a game to Mr. and Mrs. MacBeth. We have North Korea playing Nuclear Chicken with the world, Iran sending ships into International Waters and following closely on North Korea’s heels, and The MacBeths are out playing International Tourists. Real nice.

Before returning to Saudi Arabia, Barry should consider this latest Frontline report (5/9/09) on international bribery called “Black Money”. In fact, we all should. Time very well spent. It is a non-partisan sport that seems to corrupt everyone who wanders to the trough. This isn’t petty bribery. Deals involves billions and cast a dark cloud over every administration. I doubt Obama (or anyone else) is immune.

ALOHA GUY, kennedy and the northeast libs burn diesel fuel to heat their homes, how stupid is that? they won’t build nuclear, wind, wave, solar, or coal power plants, and they won’t let lng ships land in their back yard or put in pipelines for natural gas. they deserve to f’ing freeze and pay through the nose for the priviledge. you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it tapdance. my 5200 sf house is heated for 140 dollars per month, and cooled for 90 dollars per month. my warehouse/office is 5000 sf and it is heated with propane for 1200/yr, and air conditioned for less than that. of course missouri has nuclear and coal power plants, wind mills, and natural gas. good to be in the sane red states.
