Document drop: What NYTimes reporter Stephanie Strom really knew about ObamACORN

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 28, 2009 02:08 PM

Photoshop credit: Leo Alberti

Here are just a few of the exchanges between NYTimes reporter Stephanie Strom and ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief last summer and fall over the increasingly obvious links between ACORN, Project Vote, and the Obama campaign. (Both Strom and MonCrief used pseudonymous e-mail addresses while communicating). It was my blog post on the ACORN/CSI money-laundering scheme that prompted MonCrief to push the story with Strom. Thanks to MonCrief’s continued campaign to get the truth out and aided by investigative crowd-sourcing predominantly on the right side of the blogosphere (in addition to MonCrief’s testimony for Pennsylvania lawyer Heather Heidelbaugh), a plethora of documents and information continue to pour across the web. I’ll have much more on this tomorrow and in coming days. But read these and compare with NYTimes public editor’s smug dismissal of the “Tip that didn’t pan out.”

To quote Strom: “The real story to all this is how these myriad entities allow them to shuffle money around so much that no one really knows what’s getting spent on what…”

How you like these apples now, Mr. Hoyt?

Note: Emails may be a bit hard to read. I’ll put up transcripts shortly, but wanted you to see the originals.

And one of my favorites, in which Strom (”Annie Maus”) writes that she is halting her ACORN reporting efforts and muses: “One of these days, the truth is going to come out.” Yeah, it is:

Yeah, I read the NY Times story also but they don’t tell the whole story. ACORN 8 was created largely as a result of the cover up of this embezzlement. Furthermore, they gloss over the manner in which both Rathke brothers were dealt with by the org. Furthermore, everyone involved in the cover up is still in a position of power in ACORN.

Depends on the proximity of any harm done by ACORN.

A better venue is to press your state AG for an investigation and action under both civil and criminal law. There appears to be plenty with which to work.

You’re right; there’s a lot of that to be exposed.

I’m waiting for somebody — anybody — to expose just how much illegal money Hope-a-Dope raised over the Internet by intentionally disabling safeguards against fraud and by refusing to disclose (except to ACORN) the identities of less-than-$200 online donors.

This is what you get when you couple liberal “My superior morality and intelligence, coupled with the unquestionable righteousness of my aims, justifies my unethical and illegal means” smugness with “reporters” and “editors” who not only agree with that philosophy but also see it as their duty to protect and propagate the party-line narrative — no matter how self-servingly dishonest it is — instead of following the evidence where it leads.

The New York Times does not employ “reporters.” They have on staff “Hit-men” and “Erasers,” depending on who/what they want to destroy or promote.

This is how we’re going to lose the Republic, folks: by donk ideologues and their media enablers, chipping away at it one piece at a time until there’s nothing left.

Southpaw..it means there has been for a long time a concerted effort or conspiracy on the left to take power of this country and the wealth of the people and use it to their advantage or well being. No way is Obama and his thugs just shooting from the hip. For the last 30 years this takeover has been planned, studied and now has been implemented in this country. They have figured out every move the Patriot has and placed new laws or anti-USA types in power to block any civilized change in government. Basically our hands are tied now. The only remedy I see is a coup or take over of the government. It will be messy but its the only way we will get our country back. The left has played our own laws against us to be able to do this. They make it seem like they are doing right but underneath is corruption of people, establishments, agencies, law and the US Constitution. The process of voting ( by the way the only way we can change things) has been corrupted and allowed to continue is the downfall of this democracy. We will never be able to change anything by voting. The corruption will not allow this to happen. The major problem with the people of this country is that they say “it can never happen here” or ” we have safeguards to prevent that” or just plain old complacency. So when the NBPP come for your property, it will be too late. Worst when they round you up for one of the holding pens at our army bases. From the latest dinner party in Kalifornia, Obama touts,” You haven’t seen anything yet”. I wonder what that means.

I posted this on the New Black Panthers thread, but it’s worth repeating here:

I came across this article when I did a search of: Eric Holder – ACORN.

    From the article:
“Founded on the Cloward/Piven Strategy, the goal of ACORN is the destruction of capitalism through the creation of chaos to overwhelm the system. Fresh off the heels of their stunning success in intimidating banks into offering bad loans, and of nearly destroying the welfare system of New York City by flooding the rolls with new recipients, they have moved on to the voting process.”

My preferred method of fighting back is a classic Judo move: Use their own strengths against them. The left has become so blatant and arrogant in their rise to power, I feel they are exposed to political assault on many fronts and from many directions. The strategy is to keep them on the defensive until the 2010 election, peel off the Reagan Democrats and regain control of Congress.

There are some really invasive questions that are none of the government’s business. Like, “do you have a flush toilet?” or “how many cars do you have?” or “what time do you leave for work?” Is that any of their business, and why would they need to have that information? I would like to ask the lawyers on this thread if you know of any law that says a private citizen MUST answer personal questions to the government. Isn’t this an invasion of privacy? I don’t think I am going to answer some of these questions unless they can give me a specific law that states I must! What do you think?

I do agree that it is a scary thought to protest by not paying taxes. You can lose your home and everything you have, plus go to jail. I don’t think I am ready to take that step at my age! You have to agree, though, that the things our tax money goes to fund under this administration are just plain wrong. I don’t want to fund abortion or embryonic stem cell research. I don’t want to fund ACORN and those ridiculous pork projects like a rail from CA to Las Vegas. Good Grief! On the other hand, protesting the tactics of ACORN and questions regarding the census might be a cause I could help with. There has to be something unconstitutional about the questions on those forms!

It is gratifying to know those three are working on this issue (and many more, I am sure)! If anyone can dig up the truth, they can! I pray for them and hope they have protection. The saving grace is that there is strength in numbers and if anything happens to any of them, there will be he11 to pay! I’m sure the Chicago mafia is aware of that and will tread lightly. Elections have consequences. Unfortunately, Obama realizes he may only have a small window to push through his radical agenda. He is going full bore and the Congress is an enabler.

Bush never had a supermajority so he could not do this kind of agenda push even if he had wanted to. With Snow, Collins and McCain in the Senate, Obama has that supermajority and he is taking full advantage of it.

I suspect the people will become more and more fed up with things as the economy continues to tank. The next election cycle begins in Summer of 2010. If the economy is still bad then the blame Bush rhetoric will be wearing thin no matter the media support. You can fool some of the people…

Republicans MUST have their act together and get the ball rolling downhill before that election cycle begins.

The Tea Parties are where it should start for the taxation & wealth distribution issue. As for economic policy and regulation I am not sure what the grassroots are. For election fraud and corruption, this Acorn thing and the Chicago politics angle must be front and center as well as the Nancy Pelosi lie.

Obama has Colin Powell out there trying to divide and conquer Republicans and keep them in chaos. We need to soundly reject Colin Powell. How in the world can you endorse the most radical left wing candidate ever and expect me to believe you are a republican? What a farce. Michael Steele is weak. We need to get our new leaders in position.

I seriously doubt anything can or will be done working within the system. With “dear leader” quickly usurping more and more powers under the Executive Branch of the government and his lap dogs in the Congress quickly passing outrageous legislation the only way to get our country back is going to require hard men doing violent things to return this country to the rule of law. I’m done working within the system my Senators and Congress critters no longer listen to me, my neighbors, or my co-workers and we are pretty damned fed up. Ammunition is almost impossible to find and prices are outrageous for the few spare rounds you can find. I am so glad I stocked up a year before the election. anybody ever read ACORN’s preamble…interesting…sounds like a socialist/communist manifesto to me…

    Preamble

We stand for a People’s Platform, as old as our country, and as young as our dreams. We come before our nation, not to petition with hat in hand, but to rise as one people and demand.

We have waited and watched. We have hoped and helped. We have sweated and suffered. We have often believed. We have frequently followed.

But we have nothing to show for the work of our hand, the tax of our labor. Our patience has been abused; our experience misused. Our silence has been seen as support. Our struggle has been ignored.

Enough is enough. We will wait no longer for the crumbs at America’s door. We will not be meek, but mighty. We will not starve on past promises, but feast on future dreams.

We are an uncommon people. We are the majority, forged from all minorities. We are the masses of many, not the forces of few. We will continue our fight until the American way is just one way, until we have shared the wealth, until we have won our freedom.

This is not a simple vision, but a detailed plan.

Our plan is to build an American reality from the American rhetoric, to deliver a piece of the present and the fruits of the future to every man, to every woman, to every family.

We demand our birthright: the chance to be rich, the right to be free.

Our riches shall be the blooming of our communities, the bounty of a sure livelihood, the beauty of homes for our families with sickness driven from the door, the benefit of our taxes rather than their burden, and the best of our energy, land, and natural resources for all people.

Our freedom is the force of democracy, not the farce of federal fat and personal profit. In our freedom, only the people shall rule. Corporations shall have their role; producing jobs, providing products, paying taxes. No more, no less. They shall obey our wishes, respond to our needs, serve our communities. Our country shall be the citizens’ wealth and our wealth shall build our country.

Government shall have its role: public servant to our good, fast follower to our sure steps. No more, no less. Our government shall shout with the public voice and no longer to a private whisper. In our government, the common concerns shall be the collective cause.

    We represent a people’s platform, not a politician’s promise.

We demand the changes outlined in our platform and plan. We will work to win. We will have our birthright. We will live in richness and freedom. We will live in one country as one people.
