White House pushing to gag stimulus critics
Caution: Obama gangland tactics at work.
In keeping with his past campaign tactics to shut critics up through brute force, the White House appears to be taking steps to crack down on critics of the trillion-dollar porkulus law.
Is anyone surprised? Mark Tapscott at the Examiner reports:
A new White House policy on permissible lobbying on economic recovery and stimulus project has taken a decidedly anti-First Amendment turn. It’s a classic illustration of Big Government trying to control every aspect of a particular activity and in the process running up against civil liberty.
Check out this passage from a post on the White House blog by Norm Eisen, Special Counsel to the President on Ethics and Government Reform (emphasis added):
“First, we will expand the restriction on oral communications to cover all persons, not just federally registered lobbyists. For the first time, we will reach contacts not only by registered lobbyists but also by unregistered ones, as well as anyone else exerting influence on the process. We concluded this was necessary under the unique circumstances of the stimulus program.
Writes Tapscott:
The key passage is the reference to expanding regulation from registered lobbyists to “anyone else exerting influence on the process. We concluded this was necessary under the unique circumstances of the stimulus program.”

People like MM and all of you who comment on here give me hope for the future!! Thank you all for your dedication and common sense (not you, lgm). I have ancestors who came here on the Mayflower, and 2 (at least) who fought in the American Revolution. Many in my family have given their lives so that, generations later, I could live in freedom. I want my grandchildren and great-grandchildren to live in a free nation too!! We can’t let it slip away and give in to the likes of the Pelosis and Schumers and Obamas and Soros’ of the world. They are scum and must be defeated.

how about this dear leader….Sean Hannity aired Waste 101 on his Friday show which included $1,234,631,672 worth of porkulus!!!! now tell me how you are trying to make cuts in the budget!! Unneeded projects with the vast majority either being stupid or not shovel ready and temp jobs at most…we the people did not sign up for this crapola and sure don’t want to pay for projects that should be funded by those who will benefit rather than someone in Nevada paying for a project in NJ…

Liberal thought = ‘What’s mine is mine and what’s yours is the governments, and by extension is mine.’
Bring on the Acordians…the stimulus package has absolutely no chance of stimulating anything except Obama supporters wallets. If the White House doesn’t like this comment they can shove it where the sun don’t shine.

I remember when Bush cut taxes and the economy rebounded after the Clinton fiasco. The liberal talking heads called them “McJobs” because they wanted you to believe they were just meaningless, low-paying, jobs. Of course they weren’t. But when have liberals ever let the truth get in the way of story.
Now, The B.O. is spending trillions on…you guessed it, “McJobs!” But not just any McJob, temporary McJobs!

I know we are all tired of hearing this, but it does bear repeating… elections have consequences.

I seem to recall that the liberals were all upset about the assault on the fourth amendment by the Bush Administration, by which they could listen in to your calls coming from Taliban strongholds in Afghanistan without first obtaining a warrant.
But the liberals are cool with outright restriction on inconvenient speech. Kind of selective on their defense of civil rights, don’t you think?
Can everyone just think and imagine for a moment what life would have been like had President bush done these things? What would have happened had President Bush, a President who presented his Birth Certificate and had every aspect of his life before, during and after the election plastered all over the media, threatened and bullied his opponents any time they spoke out against him and his policies? Hmmm?
Yet that is all Obama knows how to do. Mr. Transparent Administration has yet to allow ANYONE to view or inspect what he is doing and has done since usurping the Presidency in November. What the Obamas have not done personally, they have used their thugs in Blue Shirts to do the rest. Go on…ask anyone who has demanded proof of his birth. Ask anyone who has questioned his fuzzy math and college papers and transcripts.
History is repeating right before our eyes, and people don’t care. They are welcoming a repeat of what happened to THE WORLD and doing so to thunderous applause and unheard of fanfare.
I can’t wait till we are all outlawed for being of an illegal party and sent to re-education. Go on, scoff if you want…but it is already happening on smaller scales.
The real funny/sad part is that many in the Republicans in Washington want to be just like them.
At least some of us will not be like the European and Russian ready to go quietly. Hopefully we have one more election to stop this-if not other action may be called for.
Wilson and FDR both had their war time gags in the name of National Security-even when it had nothing to do with National Security. John Kennedy tried to use the Fairness Doctrine to gag opponents. LBJ was doing a fair job of silencing critics until the race riots and Viet Nam War went sour-MSM turned on him. Now we have the Patriot Act which all too many Republicans supported–now Obama can use it on us. Short term thinking. President Obama’s marxism will be much harsher than King George’s tyranny.

Why do you want to limit access to a few “well chosen” people and groups? Why not totally outlaw lobbying? I don’t know if it would be Constitutional, but it would go a long way toward getting elected officials to focus on those whom they represent. Your stance – outlaw those with who we disagree puts you firmly with the Brownshirts of the 30’s.
