Document drop: The ObamACORN-Project Vote-NYTimes axis cont’d.
As part of our ongoing look at the coordinated corruption between ACORN, Project Vote, and the Obama campaign, here’s another internal email between staffers discussing how to use the Obama donor list — and an April 2008 New York Times piece on Florida voter registration laws — to drum up more money and bodies for the Obama-promoting network:
Remember: Project Vote is a 501(c)(3) barred by law from engaging in political campaigning.
Background on the players: Nathan Henderson-James was the research director of Project Vote who served simultaneously as ACORN’s political strategist. He currently works on online campaigns at ACORN and was director of the “Strategic Writing and Research Department (SWORD)” at ACORN non-profit affiliate Citizens’ Services Inc (that’s the same outfit that the Obama campaign paid $800,000 to last year and failed to report to the FEC.) Karyn Gillette was the Ohio-based national Project Vote development director who also served as campaign consultant to the ACORN-friendly Democrat secretary of state in Ohio, Jennifer Brunner. Michael Slater was the deputy director of Project Vote who had served as an organizing team leader for District 1199 SEIU and as executive director of Minnesota ACORN. He’s currently executive director of Project Vote. Michael McDunnah is PV’s communications director.
Aside: Wonder who gave them the advance notice on the NYTimes piece, which appeared on April 28, 2008? How courteous. But remember the immortal words of NYTimes editor in chief Bill Keller:

It’s astonishing how this network operates and shifts money, and sickening to think they’re going to be lobbying for O-care with tax (or more appropriately deficit) dollars.

Now that The One(TM) is in power, it doesn’t matter how much dirt is turned up on ACORN, or anything else, for that matter. They can safely thumb their noses at any possible prosecution – it ain’t gonna happen. Time to check the statute of limitations, ’cause the next administration might not be compliant.

States can prosecute under Federal law, as well as the feds. (It’s called “pendent jurisdiction”).
Most states have laws that mirror Federal RICO statutes.
The statutes of limitation can be tolled by acts of fraud, duress, or conspiracy to hide criminal acts.

It is not that this admin, Obama and ACORN are corrupt – given. It happens to be that a lot of the people in this country just don’t care and that is the perfect breeding ground for corruption.
Still no response to last week’s e-mails to my congressman and both senators asking them to join in an investigation, not even a plain vanilla, “Thank you for contacting my office”, non-response.
They all must be busy drafting GLBT recognition resolutions.
Did I mention that they’re all Democrats?

So liberals/Democrats are a semi-organized gang of criminals who will do or say anything to accumulate power. What’s new?

Well, yeah, but what’s new except that a few more people are waking up to it? There are no sudden revelations for conservatives here. These people are no more corrupt or Marxist now than they were 12 months ago. Conservatives have been warning everybody about Bush’s socialist policies, as well as what would happen if Obama were elected and the Dems took over the government. The fact that we were right isn’t anything new. We generally are.
I am just wondering how long it will be until MM is sent a cease and desist order. Just like I wonder how long it will be until the murder of Dr. Tiller is used to further the stifle of tlak radio and Conservative blogs….after all according to the liberals it was talk radio and Conservative blogs that made him do it (this could be the reason that Obama came out so strongly about this murder and not the murder of Pvt Long).

Political Cronyism? Nothing new. The NYT lackadaisical regarding issues of National importance? Nothing new. (Unless of course they can compromise National Security and then they are right on it!)
The NYT actually reporting the news? Now that WOULD be newsworthy!
The longer they can keep it swept under the rug, the longer they have to gain more control. Everyone needs to remember this when the inevitable call for bailing out these leftist rags is made.
The non profit and non partisan shams has been so obvious, yet the politicians knew when they made the ‘new rules’ that they would not be enforced- any more than immigration laws, which means rarely.
Groups like Project-vote and ACORN hardly bother disguising their true agenda any longer.
On top of that, they use taxpayer proceeds to spin off even more satellite groups for purely political purposes!
Still they are allowed to rake in our taxpayer dough and do the lefts bidding.

MM, I have to say this make Inspector Clouseau look good**. The email plainly says that ACORN is getting the Obama donor list from publicly available Obama campaign filings. It’s hardly a criminal act to use a public list of proven donors to at least one liberal cause — Obama.
Campaign disclosure keeps lots of potential donors away. If I would send a check to a Democrat, my volume of junk mail would instantly double.

You’re spinning, LGM. Smart campaign’s do not surrender their donor lists so easily – they’re too much of a valuable asset to just give away w/o a quid pro quo.
What’s more, I believe MM’s point is their intent with the donor list, not just how it was acquired, and the ethics involved.

Nathan Henderson-James doesn’t like it when “Southern” states try to purge their voter roles, and implicitly agrees that it is “voter disenfranchisement” when hapless people become “confused” by the “mildest things”:
“The mildest things confuse people and can ultimately disenfranchise people during elections,” Banks said. “Here we are wanting to disenfranchise people because they don’t send a card back?”
No doubt he is cheered by Eric Holder’s D.O.J. stopping “purges” of illegals in Georgia.
The email clearly talks about waiting for the Florida list “to come out”, i.e. to be published. Campaigns by law have to publish lists of contributors.
I think the email itself speaks more clearly than MM’s fantasy spin of it. There is nothing illegal or unethical about sending a mailing to a public list of Democratic contributors.
As an outsider I find the whole ACORN thing surreal. Everyone, left and right, knows exactly what is going on. It is rampant, systemic fraudulent and criminal activity. There is no plausible deniability in this situation at all.
LGM, you and your fellow travellers may think it is funny and really not a big deal because it helps your cause. Do you not see where this leads to or do you just not care? What happens when they start ignoring laws that you DO agree with?

lgm, two days have passed. I assume that you reread the emails and realized that you were wrong.
I stand by my reading. The email obviously was written in a hurry, and not be a speech writer.
Since MM seems to have lots of these emails, maybe she could post the lot of them so we could actually see the context. My guess is that she doesn’t do that because the conclusion is obvious — that there is nothing there.
