I think Abortionists need to reach out to assassins, to try to understand where they’re coming from and embrace their differences. Abortionists need to take the lead in forgiving assassins, to stop cowering in fear and beg forgiveness from snipers and homicidal maniacs.

Late returning to this topic (had to get some sleep after a very long couple of days), but your comments have enticed me into making a [somewhat philosophical] observation.

If you look at those words attributed to Scipio (never mind that the numbers don’t actually add up – like those who say they gave 110 % ) in the context of the beliefs that were prevalent in his lifetime, stoicism and the idea seen in so much of Greek and Roman mythology that no matter what a person did, the gods could and too often did intervene to nullify those choices, his words make sense. They could be interpreted as a rejection of fatalism and an embrace of the concept of free will – not to mention personal responsibility.

The reason I bother to posit this idea is that it also applies to our faux-potus and most particularly to Pvt. Long’s murderer. No matter the perceived (or imagined) wrongs he claims inspired him to murder one soldier and seriously wound another, when he stands before the ultimate Judge, it is Scipio’s 96% that will be weighting the scale.

As the apostle Paul wrote (rough paraphrase), In your anger, do not sin. Note that he didn’t say that anger wasn’t justified when we are wronged, but how we react to it can be.
