Mapping the “climate of hate”
My column today contrasts the White House and media responses to the Tiller murder with their silence on the deadly military recruiter attack. In the latest developments on the recruiter case, more targets were reportedly found on Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad’s computer. Yesterday, investigators said he told them “he would have killed more soldiers had they been in the parking lot.”
Don’t miss the heart-wrenching interview with the father of murdered Pvt. William Long here.
Still no comment from President Obama…
Update: Finally, a White House statement. L-a-m-e.

Climate of hate, world of double standards

When a right-wing Christian vigilante kills, millions of fingers pull the trigger. When a left-wing Muslim vigilante kills, he kills alone. These are the instantly ossifying narratives in the Sunday shooting death of Kansas late-term abortionist George Tiller versus the Monday shootings of two Arkansas military recruiters.
Tiller’s suspected murderer, Scott Roeder, was white, Christian, anti-government, and anti-abortion. The gunman in the military recruiting center attack, Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, was black, a Muslim convert, anti-military, and anti-American. Both crimes are despicable, cowardly acts of domestic terrorism. But the disparate treatment of the two brutal cases by both the White House and the media is striking.
President Obama issued a statement condemning “heinous acts of violence” within hours of Tiller’s death. The Justice Department issued its own statement and sent federal marshals to protect abortion clinics. News anchors and headline writers abandoned all qualms about labeling the gunman a terrorist. An almost gleeful excess of mainstream commentary poured forth on the climates of hate and fear created by conservative talk radio, blogs, and Fox News for reporting Tiller’s activities.
By contrast, President Obama was silent about the military recruiter attacks that left 24-year-old Private William Long dead and 18-year-old Private Quinton Ezeagwula gravely wounded. On Tuesday afternoon – more than 24 hours after the attack on the military recruiting center in Little Rock – President Obama held a press conference to announce his pick for Army Secretary. It would have been exactly the right moment to express condolences for the families of the targeted Army recruiters and to condemn heinous acts of violence against our troops.
But President Obama said nothing. The Justice Department was mum. And so were the legions of finger-pointing pundits happily convicting the pro-life movement and every right-leaning writer on the planet of contributing to the murder of George Tiller. Obama’s omission, it should be noted, comes just a few weeks after he failed to mention the Bronx jihadi plot to bomb synagogues and a National Guard airbase during his speech on homeland security.
Why the silence? Politically and religiously-motivated violence, it seems, is only worth lamenting when it demonizes opponents. Which also helps explain why the phrase “lone shooter” is ubiquitous in media coverage of jihadi shooters gone wild – think convicted Jeep Jihadi Mohammed Taheri-Azar at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill or Israel-bashing gunman Naveed Haq who targeted a Seattle Jewish charity or Los Angeles International Airport shooter Hesham Hedayet who opened fire at the El Al Israeli airline ticket counter– but not in cases involving rare acts of anti-abortion violence.
Even Jeffrey Goldberg of the left-leaning Atlantic magazine noticed the double standards. He called attention to a National Public Radio report on the military recruiter attack that failed to mention the religion and anti-military animus of the suspect. Wrote Goldberg: “Why not tell people what is actually happening in the world? We saw this a couple of weeks ago, when the press only gingerly acknowledged that the malevolent though incompetent suspects in the synagogue bombing-conspiracy case in New York were converts to Islam. How is the public served by this kind of silence? The extremist Christian beliefs of George Tiller’s alleged murderer are certainly relevant to that case, and no one in my profession is hesitant to discuss them. Why the hesitancy to talk about the motivations of the man who allegedly killed Pvt. William Long?”
The truth is that the “climate of hate” doesn’t have just one hemisphere. But you won’t hear the Council on American Islamic Relations acknowledging the national security risks of jihadi infiltrators who despise our military and have plotted against our troops from within the ranks – including convicted fragging killer Hasan Akbar and terror plotters Ali Mohamed, Jeffrey Battle, and Semi Osman.
You won’t hear about the escalating war on military recruitment centers on the op-ed pages of the New York Times – from vandalism to obstruction to Molotov cocktail attacks on campus stations across the country; to the shutdown of a Pittsburgh military recruitment office by zealots holding signs that read “Recruiters are Child Predators;” to the prolonged harassment campaign against the Marine recruiting center in Berkeley, where Code Pink protesters called America soldiers assassins; to the bomb blast at the Times Square recruiting center last March.
And you’ll certainly hear little about the most recent left-wing calls to violence by a Playboy magazine writer who published a vulgar list of conservative female writers and commentators he said he’d like to rape (the obscene slang word he used is not printable). The list was hyped by the magazine’s publicity team and light-heartedly promoted by mainstream publications such as Politico.com (founded by Washington Post reporters).
Is it too much to ask the media cartographers in charge of mapping the “climate of hate” to do their jobs with both eyes open?

Excellent piece, Michelle. Keep your powder dry and your eyes open.
She Shoots! She scoooooores!
Spitting in the wind Michelle. Spitting in the wind…
MM, incredible piece of work! Your commentary needs to be printed in every left leaning rag around the world.
The MSM has made their bed and are now sleeping with it. I am sure Prompterbama’s administration is looking to fund the press as well as control it. Kos will most likely be chosen as “Media Czar”. Okay, sarcasm I know.. but with every passing day I believe we are headed in exactly the wrong direction.
One would think that the Obama “spinmeister” Axelrod would have the One out front on the Recruiter Terrorist, as well as the New York jihadi group. He could save some face with his right thinking opponents, but I think the time is passed. If Obama comes out now to apologize it will seem as forced, contrived and ridiculous, which pretty much sums up his time in office, up to this point.
Great read MM, I hope this gets to the troops around the world. Even if Obama does not care, Americans do! It seems there are fewer of US everyday.
The Left has declared jihad against all things American; all things sacred; all truth.
Prez & Teleprompter-in-chief will be too busy playing monkey-in-the-middle with the Saudis again to make any comment.
Let’s hope he doesn’t scrape his forehead on the floor bowing this time…
I liked it better when our president offended our enemies. As far as I can tell, this president’s ultimate goal is to be BFF with eurotrash and jihadists.
Thanks for the link, FLMom! The connection between Obama’s supposedly historic (if only in the eyes of MSNBC) speech to the Muslim world, set for tomorrow from Egypt, and the administration’s lack of a coherent response to the heinous attacks in Arkansas is very revealing.
zero doesn’t have time to comment on the murder of a soldier by a scum ball islamist piece of crap. first things first, zero the servant is going home to meet with his masters.
Apparantly, yes.
For the first time in my life I’m not embarrassed by the actions of the President, “I’m ashamed of them”. Thank God my military retirement letter was signed by President Bush and not this worthless poser.
The SOP for whenever a Muslim commits an act of senseless violence in America is to make an immediate official announcement that it was not an act of terrorism… THEN investigate. Do I need to list all of the examples? It would be easier to list when that is NOT the case: there are none.
The first thought that came in my mind when I read the ticker at Fox that Obama was condemning Tiller’s murder, was that this was a big money supporter that he lost.
Yes, it is. Not only that, I think that many of these “reporters” are actually sympathetic to Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad and the others that you discuss.
Let’s face it, for Obama to say anything about the military recruiter’s murder would be too little too late. He’s already spoken with his silence.
Obama trys to pass himself off as a Christian and now, he’s beginning to embrace his Muslim roots now that it’s convenient. He didn’t have any during the campaign. Another lie by the Liar in Chief!. But I digress.
Obama is confused. He doesn’t know if he wants to be a Christian or a Muslim. In the process, he mangles both attempts. His words and actions can tell you how deep his Christian background is. Very immature would be a generous description. If Black Theology is his only training ground, then he’s desperately lacking. He may have head knowledge but spiritual wisdom is totally void.
He’ll soon learn that his lack of knowledge of Muslim beliefs will be readily apprarent too and Muslims will begin to figure out he’s a wolf in sheeps clothing to them also.
As to the murderer of Tiller being a Christian, I have my doubts. He may claim he is, but that doesn’t make it so. His actions say otherwise.
This is off topic and I apologize but it is probably the biggest news of the day: Bernanke is reading the riot act to Congress on run-away deficits. This signals a break between the Fed and Treasury and that the Fed has lost its battle to keep interest rates down. We are heading for stagflation.
Now back to the regular program which is very important too.
It’s not that the MSM doesn’t want to cover the left wing violence but rather that there is no time to do so with so many other important stories out there. Such as Michelle’s arms, how incredibly cool and stylish Barack is, how the world loves the Obamas. You know, the stuff that really matters.
Katie bar the door on interest rates. We’ll think the Carter and early Reagan years were a cake walk before its all over…
very well said michelle. each muslim attack on non muslim targets is by definition a lone gunman random incident, while any attack on left wing organizations or muslim interests is by definition a right wing conspiracy even if only one conspirator can be found. it’s very disheartening when you KNOW you can’t trust the press to bring you the facts. i guess we should expect the VIEWS instead of the NEWS by this time, but it still bothers me. it makes me wonder if things like the jfk assasination were in fact a coup de tat by … how would we know the truth? we can see on the tape two bullets hit him, but my views and the warren commission views say my lying eyes are wrong.
The public isn’t served but Obama and the Democrat Party are and as long as that is the effect, the left-leaning MSM will keep the American people in the dark as long as it takes to help get Obama’s agenda – which much of the media fully endorses – passed into law.
A class-action lawsuit against the media at-large for malfeasance of their constitutional charge to keep the people informed, doesn’t seem like a far-fetched idea at this point.
Of course TEH ONE won’t say anything to upset his upcoming visit to Cairo. Naturally, he would gush in an interview with middle east press how the USA is one of the biggest Islamic nations in the world and we, in the USA, must be educated to understand and be more welcoming of the practicioners of ROP.
They have two left eyes.
For the first time in my life I am ashamed of our Government
Rush has started referring to them as the ‘state-run media’, and as usual he is correct. The truly disgraceful thing about it is that they weren’t forcibly taken over… Instead the former profession of Journalism has sold it’s soul and rolled over like a dog that wants it’s belly scratched.
Shun the troops and weep for the enemy…what’s new about that? That’s what liberals do.
jsr: that is up to the GOP to make a stink about and they refuse to fight. Polls show that Americans are wild about Obama but are not with him on the issues. The only way to make a dent in his popularity is for the opposition party to connect the issues to the man. (We used to have one, the Whigs? No, that’s not it. I forget.) Instead, everyone is at war with conservatives because we stand in the way of post-partisanship.
I happen to think that the MSM is doing better than Republicans have a right to expect. It is not their job to be the opposition party.
thetoysurgeon–well, you must have missed the NBC droolfest on the White House inhabitants last night…you’d be soooo proud by now.
It’s not their job to be the cheerleading squad either…
MM, once again you put into words exactly what conservatives have been thinking. Good piece on the double standards in media. Now, please hire a bodyguard…
Granted but that does not absolve the GOP for hiding in the shadows. It is possibly the biggest chronic waste of time for Republicans and conservatives to be whining about media bias.
The only time the media likes Republicans is when losers like McCain and Specter suck up to them, stab conservatives in the back and then lose elections. It is a sure sign that we are doing something wrong when they like us and always signals that we are about to lose.
Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad was an individual minority member acting out of a fervent religious conviction. It was not as if he were part of a Radical Right Wing extremest group! Typical WASPS are incapable of seeing the difference. This is precisely why Sonia Maria Sotomayor needs to be seated on SCOTUS immediately. Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad and people like him require empathic consideration in our society.
/sarc off
great article and great comments!!
although I have to disagree on one point. I would call the murder of Dr. Tiller an assassination not terrorism because he was specifically targeted. The church wsn’t bombed to kill him no one else died.
It is a disgrace that BO can’t find ten seconds in his overwhelming schedule to say something about the recruiters that were shot.
another thing that was not mentioned by the media (at least I never saw or heard it) was the Starbucks that was bombed in NYC – 2 blocks from my apartment- is four blocks from the biggest mosque in NYC. it might be a stretch but they do seem to hate that mermaid.
The fact that the President has said nothing about the tragedy of the military recruiting center shooting, (while a destroyer of 60,000 unborn children is worthy of presidential comment), is IN YOUR FACE disrespect. By his intentional silence, he is showing the Country what his priorities are. I really dont have adequate words to describe his behavior, but his silence is unconscionable and audacious.
Its not just about keeping both eyes open, its also about the left and who deserves violent retribution, its not just about the silence, its about the left’s appreciation of said violence.
Its the prejudice of identity statism and the progressive ideology stupid.
Why do I have this bad feeling that with all of Obama’s recent apology tours around the world we are going to hear in his Cairo speecha huge apology to the Muslim world for the evil America….meanwhile he wont even publicly condemn the Muslim that did this heinous act or offer condolences to the family.
So what country and planet is this? I mean this isn’t the Planet Earth, Sol System, United States of America is it?
I wish Obama would issue a statement about the Long murder.
But I don’t agree that the hatred that led to Pvt. Long’s murder is somehow worse than the hatred that led to the murder of Dr. Tiller. There is no American Muslim organization, saying that Pvt. Long had blood on his hands, but that’s exactly what Operation Rescue said about Dr. Tiller. Nobody on any TV station said anything negative about Pvt. Long. Fox hosts have spent hours over the past two days condemning Dr. Tiller, may he rest in peace.
Roosevelt handed over eastern europe to Stalin…along with a bunch of german POWs we had to be tortured and killed…
when the US abandoned South vietnam and handed over southeast asia to the communists with the results being the killing fields and the boat people..
we abandoned the Shah and turned iran over to the ayatollahs…and turned nicaragua over to the sandinistas..
you sure its the first time?
Some other reasons for the shrug-of-the-shoulders non-response are:
1. The military, although identifiable as a “group” for identity politics purposes, is not a donkey constituency. So there’s no need to care about them.
2. By portraying any planned or executed act of Mohammedan violence as some kind of one-off by someone who coincidentally just happened to be a Mohammedan, libs in denial in the media can serve up to their intended audience — fellow libs in denial — the illusion of control. “We’re not dealing with a hostile death-cult; just a few cranks…”
Keep reminding them — and all of us — of the unpleasant facts of life, Michelle. Somebody’s got to do it.
so you’re sure about that huh? try visiting your local mosque…
and yes tiller did have blood on his hands.
Agreed right4life its been on the wall all along..but the speed and the lack of backbone against it, thats what I find most worriesome, the goverment does only what the people allow.
no longer..we only do what the government allows…
lgm: Why don’t you try holding your breath for that to happen. At least when you pass out you’ll quit making inane posts here.
For your edification, differences between Dr Tiller and Pvt Long:
One took innocent lives, the other defended innocent lives (from prenatal to the elderly).
One took an oath to “First, do no harm” and violated it, the other took an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all foes, foreign and domestic” and lived by it.
One paid with his life for violating his oath, the other paid for his life for living up to his oath.
Who does the The Far Left Progressive Socialist Leaning Media think is between them and Islamic Extremist?
Answer: The U.S. Military.
So when these same people are fighting and dying to keep this corrupt fraudulent press protected, this same press is smearing and blacking out coverage of violence perpetrated upon them by the same populace they have taken an oath to protect and defend. I am so sick and tired of the treatment of regular Americans by these mediocre slobs spewing spin in the MSM.
Islamist hate secularist more than they do the religious. Lucky for the Secularist the United States Military will protect them even if they spew hate against them. They are funny like that protecting all American’s freedoms. The reason the liberal media can pump it’s bias into the news cycle every day.
But CNN and MSNBC can’t figure out why their ratings are down they attack the Public they are supposed to be serving SEE Tea Party Protest, with biased slanted, spinned dried news. The MSM doesn’t want to serve the American Public, No Problem they are not the only channel on the dial.
NEWS FLASH For CNN & MSNBC how many Americans are serving in the U.S. Military around 3 million. Now add all their families, neighbors and friends What does that Demographic add up to? Now why would any of them patronize any news channel that can’t report on regular Americans honestly? So when these two soldiers were attacked, we expect there to be the same amount of coverage as there was for a notorious Abortion Doctor’s murder. Note to the Liberals 51% of the American Populace polled PRO LIFE.
CNN and MSNBC are circling the drain. I can’t wait till somebody flushes them in their current form. The only thing I watch on CNN is Lou Dobbs, I wish he would go to a different network.

WOW lgm, you simply haven’t paid attention since 9/11/01 have you??
Why it’s the military the FLPSLM think is the stumbling block to love, peace, raingbows and unicorns between us and the ROP.
Without the military interventions, why the ROP would just love us to death.
That’s misleading and out of context. FNC’s news analysts – not their reporters – reiterated their assertions that Tiller terminated sixty thousand pregnancies and for less than medically prescribed reasons.
This is an offensive moral equivocation, given that there are two families currently grieving, but while you bring it up, where are the Muslim org’s denouncing this villainous act by one of their adherents?
Fixed it for myself — sorry, should have ‘previewed!’
I wonder what he thinks Code Pink is saying when they show up wearing and spreading red paint everywhere at a protest or hearing, and those weren’t exactly words of support John Kerry used in his 1971 testimony before a senate committee.
Another home-run Michelle. The bias of the leftist infesting the main stream media becomes more apparent every passing hour. The best way to expose those pseudo-journalist as frauds and democrap stooges is to present the facts they choose to omit because of their bias. It is only a matter of time before the new media drives the final stake into the heart of the now failed main stream media.
Oh, My GOD!!!
Dr. Tiller was morally and ethically barely distinguishable from Dr. Josef Mengele!
Tiller HAD BLOOD ON HIS HANDS! There is no other way to describe the extra-judicial taking of innocent human life! What could ANYONE find praiseworthy or laudatory about Dr. Tiller and what he did for a living! Next, people are going to start deifying him like Mother Theresa!
lgm, if you increased or IQ by several orders of magnitude you would still be a morally stunted MORON!
The troops understand what they have for a Commander in Chief. The troops have to deal with bad leaders from time to time at all levels. When you understand that you come to realize the importance of the NCO and Warrant Officer corps in our military.
They are the no Bravo Sierra, get it done, level of management that keep the troops mission focused. Obama can do whatever he wants and we will survive as long as we have good NCO’s and Warrant Officers.
I had an instructor tell us that the reason we won WWII was that we conducted a seires of coordinated squad sized attacks led by an NCO. He could not have been more correct.
Apparently this guy wasn’t a “lone shooter”, after all. On its website, Fox News is reporting that senior US officials are saying this was part of a bigger plot to wage jihad. I wonder how bHo will sweep this one under the rug. Probably by just ignoring it away.
Comparing this and the abortion dr. is like comparing apples and oranges. While both are acts of terrorism, and the persons responsible should hanged in public IMHO, one was commited out of a need to avenge the destruction of innocent babies, and the other was commited out of a need to destroy America.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the new administration drafts federal regulations limiting conceal and carry to only converts to islame.
I completely agree. NCO’s are the workhorse of our military, and without them, we’d loose every battle ever fought, and I’m proud to be able to say I was one in the AF.
Great article Michelle!
Obama has spoken so profoundly with his silence that any statement he made now would look as contrived as it actually would be.
I’ve been thinking about this polling data that puts Obama at such a high approval rating, but his policies at such a low rating. The reason for this is total ignorance on the part of the electorate. Remember when we’d hear about the “man on the street” interviews? For example the one in Harlem on the Howard Stern Show where it was asked if people supported Obama’s views, but instead of giving the views of Obama, they gave the policies of McCain. People overwhelmingly favored the policies when they were attributed to Obama. They just didn’t know what his policies were because they were ignorant. The typical uninformed electorate.
I think that’s what we’re seeing now with these poll numbers. People simply are ignorant. As much as I think the MSM should be held accountable for what they don’t report or how they report what they do report, and that the Republicans need to be more vocal (or vocal at all!), how do we get to these who are just ignorant? I don’t have the answer.
Great article as always Michelle.
With all this left-wing hate I hope you have a CCL from the great state of CO.

Even by your usual standards this is a breathtakingly assinine statement. Leftwing groups, even “mainstream” ones, routinely say that the US military is comprised of baby killers, assassins, tools of the racist state etc. They hurl every vile, factually incorrect slur imaginable at the people who risk life and limb to protect them.
Aside from the Tiller shooting being a valuable tool to attack ALL conservatives and pro-lifers, i.e. Obama’s critics, there are other simple facts at play:
1. The Democratic Party hates the military. If it could, it would eliminate the U.S. armed forces (see plans for the Obamajugend to be as “powerful” as the military). One dead imperialist hick who probably voted Republican anyway? Who cares?
2. The Democratic Party is bought and paid for by the abortion industry. Tiller got away with what he did because of his involvement with the Kansas state government machinery. Kathleen Sebelius was one of his beneficiaries. Ergo, the quick condemnation.
3. Tiller’s murderer was a white “Christian” dude. Long’s murderer was a black man and a Muslim. Obama can’t knock a brother and as he told the Egyptian media, we’re a Muslim country now.
One abortionist is murdered and the react is that there is a movement afoot to a return (btw there was no first act) of violence by radical pro-lifers, while these “lesser” executions are just random acts.
Nothing to see here folks, move along!
By contrast, President Obama was silent about the military recruiter attacks that left 24-year-old Private William Long dead and 18-year-old Private Quinton Ezeagwula gravely wounded.
Has AG Eric Holder issued a press release on this event? This is Federal not State jurisdiction. They are both United States Army Soldiers so this should be handled by the Feds….why is there no press release on this subject by Eric Holder?
Maybe Obama is too busy to send his condolences to these families what is the rest of his Administrations hold up?
Bob Gates? No one wants to comment on the cold blooded murder of a 24 year old recruit and the wounding of an 18 year old recruit who took the oath to protect this country …serving in Obama’s Military. This is what we can expect not worthy of any attention or comment?
No matter what your stand is on abortion you do your cause no good with such statements. Even accepting the premise that every abortion is a murder there is still a huge difference between that act and the prolonged, systemic torture and experimentation performed by on unwilling captives Mengele.
Partial-birth abortion is a sufficiently horrific act that you shouldn’t have to resort to such exaggerations to make your point.
How many viable children have been killed by aborting? Millions?
Many compare the aborted to a holocaust. Unwilling participants in their own deaths.
Michelle:
Your column is spot on. Keep doing what your doing.
This is particulary interesting in light of the blaring headline on Drudge!
lgm, aren’t you glad that your mother never met a Dr. Tiller before you were born? We are not to judge Dr. Tiller’s relationship to God, but we are to judge his actions. Why do you laud someone who theoretically could have taken your life? Or are you glad that a future lgm type won’t be around to plague conservatives with inane blatherings. After all, it’s God hating, man worshipping, leftist fools like you who are much more likely to abort their “spawn” than are conservative Christians who value precious life.
You need to read the post before you comment. I did NOT say Tiller was indistinguishable from Mengele. I said he was barely distinguishable.
Please explain when abortion is NOT murder?
Also, explain how “murderous” does murder have to be before you consider it “murderous?”
Count the victims from Hitler’s Holocaust. Count the victims from Stalin’s Holocaust. Count the victims from America’s Holocaust. Do the math.
Words mean something.
I see one as being a result of hatred towards a protector of the innocent and the other a result of hatred towards the guilty.
Ok, all you blind leftists, figure out which one is which!
I understand that. My point was that what Mengele did went far beyond simple murder. He performed surgery without anesthesia. He conducted experiments on living human beings that would have made Dr. Frankenstein shudder. He deliberately burned people to see how long it took to progress from 1st to 3rd degree burns. With the slightest research you could find dozens of other examples of things this man did that make the “Saw” movies look tame.
If you want to say an abortionist is a mass-murderer that’s a logically defensible position to take. But to compare an abortionist to Mengele simply doesn’t hold up, and the hyperbole ultimately harms your argument.
Didn’t enough reporters lose someone they cared about on Sept. llth or with another terrorist plot?
How about Daniel Pearl’s fellow reporters?
How about reporters with friends or family in the military?
Extremism has surely hit home to enough reporters or journalism teachers that they would want to see past their progressive agendas – just to be able to sleep at night! In their jobs as reporters, what are they being rewarded with that can be any greater than the lives of their friends, acquaintances and the rest of us. There’s gotta be alotta guilt out there – antidepressants and gin & tonics….must be a real sad bunch.
That’s what he and his media puppets would have you believe, but in fact his popularity numbers are only about average for presidents at this point of their administrations.
Seems like by Obama’s non-statement that he pretty much could not care less about Pvts. Long and Ezeagwula.
Why didn’t he or the White House issue a timely statement?
Maybe, like the anti-war extremists, he thinks these two young men deserved what they got for serving in the military? It would not shock me one bit if that were the case.
Maybe he cares more about offending muslims than about addressing a heinous murder of two young men serving this country?
In any event, there’s no legitimate reason for ignoring this horrible act.
And to the ignorant one.. lgm…
Of course no one cited Pvt. Long specifically. This was a terrorist attack on THE MILITARY.
And despite your selective amnesia, yes… there are groups, including Muslim groups that have made disgusting statements about our military. Does the name John Murtha ring a bell?
The list goes on… and MM has cited so many examples that you could write a book about it.
Liberal talking points don’t hold water. So can it.
In the first year of the Iraq war we lost approximately 600 soldiers. I was amazed to see statistics that there were approximately 600 murders by gun in places like Detroit, 600 more in LA, 600 more in Chicago, 600 more in Baltimore, 600 more in NYC and on and on.
Our cities are more violent than an actual war zone. But we spend more time on the lone killing of an abortion Doctor or a soldier. Those 2 incidents have special meaning- abortion and military. But we have a bigger problem.
Gang violence, domestic violence, drunk driving, illegal alien crime, and of course, the elephant in the room. Wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistam, Somalia, Algeria, Chechyna, Ossetia. Lots of death in in the above. And why is that? Obama says its Americas fault. On the home front as well as overseas. Expect him to see the reality here? Forget it. He is a political hack of the worst kind. Win by any means necessary. Thanks America.
Michelle,
Excellent, excellent work, as usual.
This post is awesome, and I can think of no better explanation of the bias and double standards in the MSM and our politicians.
War is being waged against this country, and part of winning that war means winning the propaganda war being waged by the enemy-controlled media and the Democratic Socialist Communist Party USA.
The enemy has a clearly-stated program of “Unity Against the Ultra-Right“. It is clear that the MSM is unified with the CPUSA (Communist Party USA).
The enemy has a clearly-stated program of “Defeating the Ultra-Right“. We must defeat them, not them defeating us.
I’d have to disagree. The only difference is that you’ve been de-sensitized to the horror of cutting a baby in pieces, sucking it’s brains out with a vacuum, or burning it to death with saline–all in the name of “choice.”
In both cases, the Dr.’s felt justified in the horror they were doing because
The victims weren’t really human
They are doing something legally sanctioned by the state
Yet in both cases they are inflicting death in the most painful and cruel forms on the defenseless.
So, in my mind they are most definitely similar and because it is not pleasant to hear means nothing to me. The truth is the truth. Abortions are in fact, becoming less reputable with every succeeding generation because of the new technology that lets folks see that there is a real person in there that is being mangled and torturously “eliminated.” It IS a horrific practice!
That said, I don’t believe that the two had the same feelings/mental state about what they were doing; I have no idea. Mengele in particular strikes me mentally disturbed and sadistic apart whether he had a chance to participate in the Final Solution or not. Tiller, though, sounds like he was clearly sane and in no way unstable–just committed to abortion.
But the net effect of both men’s actions seems similar enough to me to warrant the equivalence.
Are you aware that one method of abortion is the DnC which means that the uterus is dilated and then the baby is dismembered in order to remove it? Prior to the dismemberment, some babies are killed with a solution that results in a manner similar to burning to death. All of this is done without anesthesia for the baby. Partial birth abortion is also done without anesthesia for the baby.
The methods used to kill babies in the womb are no less heinous than the horrific experiments of Dr. Mengele and any doctor who performs them is not less a monster.
Good lord…is that you lgm?
May the cries of 60,000+ babies ring in his ears for all eternity. May he never rest in peace.

Exactly where is that duty enumerated in the Constitution? I can’t seem to find it in my copy.
Wish in one hand, and c%@* in the other. See which one fills up first.
You don’t get it. By his silence, President Obama indicates that the hatred that led to Dr. Tiller’s murder “is somehow worse” than the hatred that led to PVT Long’s murder. For that matter, Dr. Tiller was the sole target of his whacked-out murderer for a specific perceived grievance. Long and Ezeagwula were targeted because they were American soldiers. Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammed told the police that if their had been more soldiers in the parking lot that he’d have shot them, too. If you’d have been there, he wouldn’t have cared that you are one of the empathetic progressives who feel his pain.
I haven’t heard any of them racing to condemn his murder, either.
Hmmm. Abortionist. Blood on hands. Go figure.
Most of the MSM has completely ignored his murder.
President Obama has condemned William Long by his silence.

Thank you, Michelle, for spotlighting the blatant double-standard regarding these two tragedies. Many concerned people were aware of where our president’s and the media’s loyalties lie. This is proof. It’s up to the concerned to make sure other people start giving a damn.
Lets take a page from the liberal playbook.
With an innate obsession to blame those supposedly responsible for someone elses reprehensible actions, Kathleen Sebelius is who induced Scott Roeder to commit murder!
Its simple (in liberal terms) if Sebelius had not perverted justice to keep Tiller in the legal death business, Roeder would not have felt compelled to act (progressively of course).
Naturally, this only applies if the liberals are never to blame switch is turned off.
Tell me, James, how many of Dr. Tiller’s patients were NOT mutilated and dismembered in D&C abortions without anesthesia while they were alive? Tell me how many babies are horribly burned while alive in Saline abortions? Tell me what was done to alleviate the pain that babies went through in “partial birth abortions he performed?” How can that not be compared to what Mengele did?
Abortion IS far worse than any make-believe movie you want to compare it too. Abortionists routinely perform these unspeakable tasks more than 1000 times every day for PROFIT!
You either know nothing about what happens during an abortion or you are being disingenuous.
Another case of liberal knee-jerk reaction. Turns out that “gun scare” at Princeton was just four kids rummaging through a dumpster and one found a toy plastic gun and put it in his pocket. While they were walking away, a woman saw the gun and called police who alerted the media and so on…
File it with “Kindergartener suspended for pointing banana at friend in school yard”. The wacky world of liberals!
SST: They have no constitutional mandate to keep people informed. They also don’t have to tell “the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
Unfortunately, they can hide behind the Constitution and rely upon it to protect their right to publish their tripe.
However, if they took their job seriously, they would report the facts, all of the facts, and let the readers make informed decisions.
As it is, they let out only what they want to, in conformance with their liberal slant, and try to shape public opinion.
Problem is, the sheeple of this country won’t seek the truth and, even if the truth smacked them in the face, they wouldn’t know it anyway. They only want to be entertained and will gladly watch ‘reality’ shows without understanding they are no more real than their sad little fantasies (I understand they used lgm’s picture next to that definition in Webster’s).

I didn’t compare abortion to movies, make-believe or otherwise.
And you’re so blinded by your idealogy that you can’t tell when someone’s on your side.
I’ve said nothing to defend abortion, I’ve said nothing to defend Dr. Tiller’s pracitces.
What I have said is that by comparing any abortionist to Dr. Mengele you do your cause no good.
For example, Jvette said this:
That description (and yes I was aware of it) represents an inarguable fact. As such it has tremendous persuasive power when shared with an open-minded person you’re trying to convince.
It also proves my point that many abortion practices are so horrific in reality that they require no further elaboration.
On the other hand, when you say “So-and-so is just like Mengele!” it will make a lot of people simply tune out whatever it is you have to say next. They’ll assume you’re an extremist, reflexively take a position opposite to yours and be much harder to convince.
Now, if you can point me towards someone you actually brought around to your point of view by comparing them to Nazis or Jack the Ripper I’ll shut up. If you can’t show me such a person though I’ll ask that you at least consider the possibility that I’m right, and that Godwin’s Law exists for a reason.
The politics of jihad will continue to kill Americans as they use our “religious freedom” law to their advantage.
I do not expect anything from the Moslem in Chief impostor.
He made it clear he would “stand with the Muslim people” and didn’t clarify which Muslim people and where….he is a citizen of the world, but not a natural born one of our Nation.
He will fail if we resist him and his cartel in their efforts to bring down the Nation.
America is worth the fight. Are you doing enough?
James,
I picked the “inarguable facts” of surgery without anesthesia, burning and other awful acts precisely because you mentioned them among Mengele’s horrible crimes against humanity. In fact, Dr. Tiller did precisely the same thing to humans as Mengele did.
If you don’t like the fact that Tiller did largely the same kinds of things as Mengele did that is your problem. That you evidently understand the analogies are comparable and yet recoil at making the analogies then I don’t know what to make of you.
“Godwin’s Law” really doesn’t apply. I made no mention of Mengele’s political beliefs or motivation for what he did. I only stated that he did it. I compared Tiller (the doctor) to Mengele (the doctor). If you can’t see that then again, it appears to be your problem with facts that is the issue.
Just a random thought,
Tiller conducted Infanticide on an industrial scale and rather than comparing him to someone else, he can now be compared too, much to my everlasting disgust. His actions were much too infamous.
I respectfully wish all the counter abortion supporters would give it a rest. Being so passionately vested in these single (yes, they’re vital — but!) issues are whittling down votes we need in the future if you really want to change the tide! I don’t expect pro-lifers to convert America in our lifetimes, and before then we have far more essential fish to fry to win the hearts and minds of the critical voters we need! The pendulum is atrophying towards the left swing, and it does no good alienating closet abortion fence sitters by making it our central “God themed” issue instead of financial and security which doesn’t rub personal liberties as deeply! Unfortunately most women today backed to a corner admitting it are somewhat pro-abortion to a point so it’s already uphill. We can’t be seen as ramming this single issue down peoples’ throats while we’re still the moral minority! That’s ALL that others will think we’re concerned about! Let’s win the Congress and WH back first — if at all possible — THEN deal with right to life. A wise person knows when to step back to jump ahead!
Please!!

James Greenridge,
Glad to know you are willing to take such a firm stand on key issues such as protecting the life of the unborn.
Some of us cannot toss away our principles quite so readily though. I for one am not about to just “go away” to please people like you.
