On June 25th, Move America Forward will be holding our 2nd annual “Troop-a-thon” titled “Honor their Service.”
This cutting edge live webcast event brings together talk radio hosts, megastars of film and television, musical guests, journalists, military and Gold-star families, pro-troop groups and many more.
The goal of this charity fundraiser is to send the largest ever shipment of care packages to our brave men and women of the armed forces serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay.
Viewers are encouraged to sponsor care packages (donations are tax deductible) for the troops and each one includes a personalized message and items that our troops have requested that make their life a little easier while they are far from home, such as sun-screen, Gatorade, deodorant, coffee, cookies and much more.
The star-studded line-up joining Melanie Morgan will include Vice President Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Andrew Breitbart, Mark Levin, John Ondrasik, Laura Ingraham, etc., etc. etc.
Be there!

Update: Blackfive has mailing info on how to send support to the families of Pvt. Long and Pvt. Ezeagwula, our America soldiers targeted by suspected jihadi Abdulhakim Muhammad.
Reader Naarah writes that the funeral home where Pvt. Long’s service will be held has advised callers that the family requests that donations be made to www.WoundedWarriorproject.org in lieu of flowers.

Hmmm… the usual suspects, and good on them! But where are all the Democrat party celebrities?
Thanks for the up-date Michelle. I plan to donate for our military as I did last year. Please remind us on this event when the day comes.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oh my. Good one. Good one…too funny.
Across the street, protesting.
If it were an election year, the Dems would be out in full force.
The Libs care about the Military and Blacks prior to each and every election.
tre,
There won’t be any protesting. The Patriot Guard Riders will be there to escort Pvt. Long
Question: Was Dr. Michael Savage asked to join and did he decline? I know he’s a strong supporter of our military. Maybe he’s too incendiary?
BobK,
You are correct on the Patriot Guard Riders. My husband is one and they will not allow any disrespect to our lost military. God be with Pvt. Long’s family and please give them His comforting arms.

The Soap’s are on board as usual. Care packages will be sent.
Soap’s have a son who just graduated as a Ranger and is headed back to Afghanistan!
Thank you, Soap for supporting our troops and raising a fine young man. God bless and keep him. May one chase a thousand.
Thanks b-cat! We would like to take credit but it was all his idea. 9/11 has a lot to do with it – if you know what I mean.
HEH! I am gunna send my care packages in honor of lgm and Ihatemycountry!
Fixed it.
I went grocery shopping this morning and bought a goodie bag for out troops. I hope that brings someone overseas some comfort.
As for this family, may God bless them and keep them. I’ll say a prayer at church for them.
But I hope the dog who killed this hero burns for eternity.
I dedicated my new Washington Post subscription to WarEagle a few months back.
You do know what birds do to news papers – right? WaPo is good for just that!
I cried so many times during last year’s telethon. It was great.

There may be a few celebrities, and i don’t really care thier party affiliation. That being said, I am sure there will be very few of the hardcore Dems involved at all.
But they won’t be at anti-war protests. Have you failed to notice how those protests are no longer acceptable now that the annointed one is in office. LOL! They used to held on a weekly basis it seemed. What Happened?!?!
Good on ya Soaps! It is difficult to express the level of my thanks to parents like you who offer up their Sons to continue to protect America…and me and mine.
Thank you.
…and to your Son, what you do epitomizes the regard Patriots hold for our freedom and our country.
I suggest we get a statement telling people how much of their donation goes toward the Troops vs how much goes to administering the program. I donated last year but I’m waiting for this information this year.
Guidestar.org is a useful site. You have to register (free) to see most of the stuff, but they provide the IRS form 990s for charities. From MAF’s 2007 990 (which is the most recent):
Donations: $1,377,237
Program Costs: $1,026,588
Admin and Mgmt: $256,937
Fundraising costs: $8,511
What you would generally be interested in is the percentage of program costs to admin and fundraising added together. But really, you should take a close look at Part II, which is the Statement of Functional Expenses and scrutinize it. I will try to link to the 990, but I can’t guarantee you can access it without registering.
$202,000 in travel expenses? This is looking like a “government” program. Administrative expenses appear to run about 1/3 of the total cost of the program.
