Those who reasonably provide a counterbalance to our hypersexualized society shouldn’t have to change their beliefs. We could use a bit more prudishness these days. I’m not necessarily a prude myself, but we’ve got to draw lines sometimes. We’ve already lightened up a lot in a short amount of time.

   As far as the HF phrase is concerned, some define it as a humorous term regarding a consensual act. Some define it as vicious sex regardless of whether it’s consensual or not. It’s those who define it as the latter who should have been taken into consideration. A writer for Playboy should know better than to put those thoughts better left to himself out there for the world to read, and his editors are either irresponsible or supportive of his disdainful view of women—until people make a stink about it. To the married men or the guys who have girlfriends out there, how would you define HF-ing if someone referred to your significant other that way? How would your significant other perceive it? Now picture a leading men’s magazine saying it on their website, along with explicit descriptions. Not such an inane subject now, is it? It’s pretty easy to tell someone to lighten up when it’s not you they’re talking about.

   I don’t blame women for getting ticked off about this. If they don’t want to lighten up about the matter, good for them. Keep fighting, ladies. Just remember that not all guys look at you as objects or subordinates for the taking.

   And Debbie, not all Palin supporters are classless hypocritical sexist pigs. Don’t lump millions together because of a few vile morons.

    The CBS News post appears to have been using Rashomon to show that different people could view Sarah Palin’s recent appearance at a GOP event differently:

    Judging from the media’s attention to her every move since the November Presidential election, Sarah Palin may very well rank as the most fascinating contemporary American politician this side of Barack Obama.

    But in the latest Chapter of Sarah Watch, a minor kerfuffle has erupted in the blogosphere over whether Palin’s attendance at a Washington fundraiser held on behalf of Republican House and Senate candidates Monday night (with the First Dude in tow, naturally) was a big hit or a non-event….

    What happened next may go down as a Rashomon moment in the annals of Palin coverage.

    Why a rape analogy? Cooper had to have known the significance of using Rashomon, since his post linked to a summary of the movie.

    Although more subtle than the pathetic Letterman jokes, yet another example of the instinctively demeaning attitude at CBS towards conservative women, particularly Sarah Palin.

    Don Imus’ “nappy headed hos” comment was inappropriate and he was fired. I doubt CBS will let Letterman go in any reasonable amount of time to link his dismissal to joking about the sexual assault of a minor.
