It’s all a freaking game to dirty old David Letterman.
For shame.
Can you imagine him talking about the Obama daughters this way? Via EW, h/t Hot Air:
“We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter [Bristol]… and now they’re upset with me…” Letterman says on tonight’s show. “These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl…. Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No.” Saying he hopes he’s “cleared part of this up,” Letterman extended an invitation to Palin to come on the show as a guest.
Palin has one word for the attacks: “Pathetic.”
I would add:
Deranged.

Our host’s observation about Letcherman making the same comments about Obama’s daughters is absolutely spot on.
Simply replace the name “Michelle Obama” for “Sarah Palin” in every section Letcherman’s original Top Ten skit.

So, David Letterman graduated from my high school. Granted, many years before I did, but it was like something we were supposed to be proud of.
He was given an “Alumni of the Year” award a few years ago. He didn’t show up, of course – his mom accepted for him.
But one of my teachers told us that when some show was doing a biography on him and asked his old teachers to be interviewed, none of them would because they couldn’t stand him.
Can’t say I’m surprised.
This has probably been said before but I haven’t read all the comments. Anyway, Bristol didn’t go with Sarah to New York, correct? Willow, the 14 year old, did, though, from what I understand, which is why people don’t believe him when he says he was talking about Bristol.
letterman the pathetic piece of human waste, got a few laughs from the brain dead cretins who think it’s great to get tickets to what passes for the tonght show now a days. letterman is not funny, if anything the only joke in that show is him. he will be kept by cbs because his bosses are equally pathetic and think just like him. they all lack courage, and can only present themselves as the weak miserable creatures they are.
He doesn’t care if he got his girls mixed up…too much in a hurry to spew vile comments. Is this guy somehow related to Olbermann?
We should start a campaign to boycott all of Letterman’s sponsors until they drop him. It’s all about the money to the them and revenue/ratings to CBS.We don’t have to pay this dirt bag

Letterman is getting clobbered night after night in the ratings and decided he had to be more hip and so he now just steals from Colbert and Stuart. Stuart and Colbert started the trend of ridiculing conservatives each night and making liberals into cool dudes and conservatives into nerdy, ugly people. Letterman even does a “what’s cool, what’s not” every week and it is always the Obamas who are cool and the Bushes who are way uncool. Dave’s head writer, a guy named Schiff, even admitted that the Letterman show does not do jokes about Obama because Obama “is just so competent”. So it was only a matter of time before he started ridiculing the Palin family and for Letterman, even the Palin children are not off limits. He made a huge deal on the June 10th show about the fact he was only ridiculing 18 year old Bristol Palin and not the 14 year old daughter of the Palins. Dave kept saying that there is a huge difference between an 18 year old and a 14 year old. If that is Letterman’s view of teenagers, he really is creepy. But no surprise there. After Leno kicked Dave’s butt every night in the ratings war, Dave resorted to crude personal insults at Jay. Jay never responded in kind.
Letterman’s invitation means nothing.
For things to be truly equitable, he should appear on live television with Governor Palin in a setting which she controls, in the presence of an audience comprised entirely of her supporters and indeed the whole Palin clan. Oh, and he’d have to do the entire standup routine again.
But he’s too cowardly to do it.

It says alot about Letterman’s audiance and where they’re at mentally to sit through something so insulting toward women. When a sexual assault toward a child is held up as comedy, and a room full of adults think it’s funny, we have far more problems than we care to think about. Whether he knows it or not, and 18 yr. old is still not a fully developed adult. This has to be crushing and humiliating to both Palin’s daughters. And, yes, I do think it’s a direct assault on the mother because she is the only threat out there to their chosen one. They have to stop her now or deal with her during the nomination process in 2012.

Do you remember some of the “entertainment” that Al Gore, John F’ing Kerry and Obama sat through during their presidential campaigns? There was so much cussing, swearing and insulting going on…and all three of them laughed at those very inappropriate “jokes”. When I saw that thug-jerk Obama laughing at a host insulting his “enemies”, I was sickened. A person in the highest office in the world, reduced to a junior high giggling fool. (Of course, Clinton pretty much trashed any dignity that was left in the office anyway.) I am embarrassed for him and for the country he is supposed to be representing. He hides behind the “comedian” title and he truly believes he is allowed to ridicule anyone in the name of “his kind of humor.” He’s just a coward and an insincere liberal. Folks, if you are disgusted with this grotesque “humor” (category: Funny Rapes); one thing you could do is petition the FCC to take action. CBS has a STATUTORY mandate as an FCC licensed broadcaster, to broadcast “in the public interest”! Joking trivializing of minor/youth rape is most definitely COMPLETELY CONTRARY to the public interest.
