Pelo-cchio gets a Houston welcome

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 15, 2009 11:07 AM

Howdy, San Fran Nan. Houston Tea Party activists roll out the welcome mat for the dissembling House Speaker.

There should be an event like this wherever she lands her taxpayer-subsidized jet:

The following statement, or variations thereof, is often attributed to Thomas Jefferson:

A government big enough to supply you with everything you need, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have….

We have never found such a statement in Jefferson’s writings. As far as we know, this statement actually originates with Gerald R. Ford, who said, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have,” in an address to a joint session of Congress on August 12, 1974.[1]

This quotation is sometimes followed by, “The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases,” which is most likely a misquotation of Jefferson’s comment, “The natural progress of things is for liberty to yeild, and government to gain ground.”

I have had this posted on my refrigerator for a very long time. I don’t know who actually said it, but it is one of the best quotes ever. Sounds like something Reagan would have said.

What is it, in a few words, that all Republicans believe? We believe – along with millions of Democrats and Independents – that a government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.

Gerald Ford in an address to Congress on August 12, 1974. He reiterated them as part of his closing remarks of the Republican National Convention of 1996, held in San Diego, California.

Too bad that Mr. Ford was wrong about what “…all Republicans believe”.

Because that’s what the media would like to you to believe. ABC — All Barack Channel – NBC – National Barack Channel, etc. IF this ever made it to the national media, they would dismiss it as irrelevant, and “unscientific” poll. Of course, if the story was the other way around, they’d be shouting from the rooftops and hyperventilating about it on all their cable channels and saying…”See? See? The majority of the US loves socialism!”

Pelo-cchio “welcomes” like these are vitally important!

Nancy Pelosi’s power comes from the campaigning she does to raise funds for Democrat congressional candidates from districts around the country.

Making a visit from Pelosi a very visible liability in the candidates’ home districts is the best way to dry up her power!!!

She wouldn’t be nearly as dangerous if she was just a single Congressperson from San Francisco. The danger comes from Democrat Congresspeople voting for her to be Speaker of the House, because they owe her a favor for helping them to raise money for their campaigns.

OpenSecrets.org has a wealth of information about Nancy Pelosi’s campaign finance information.

If you want to see a list of congressional candidates that her “PAC To The Future” PAC contributed to in 2008 follow this link:

    http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/expend.php?cmte=C00344234&cycle=2008

These numbers are just the tip of the iceberg because they don’t include the money she raises by speaking at fundraisers for Democrat candidates.

Since Nancy Pelosi represents the most liberal portion of the most liberal city in the country, she does not spend time campaigning for her own re-election in San Francisco. Instead she spends the campaign season traveling to other districts to raise money for other Democrat congressional candidates who have the power to vote for or against her for the position of Speaker of the House.

There should be lots and lots of opportunities to give Rep. Pelosi a patriotic tea party “welcome” in congressional districts around the country once the campaign season begins!!!

One of the profs from whom I learned the most about it was a longtime drinker of the Kool-Aid. Between her classes, and the fact that I was a Rush Baby, I was free to make my own decisions about what was what.
