House approves $108 billion foreign bailout

Is there any bill that can pass on Capitol Hill these days without a multi-billion-dollar bailout attached to it?
Nope. The Beltway politicians can’t even keep the war-funding bill free of taxpayer handouts to failing enterprises.
As I’ve blogged repeatedly over the past month, President Obama has been pushing a $108 billion foreign bailout to the beleaguered International Monetary Fund — pledging the money in April before ever bothering to make his case to Congress.
Tonight, the House did what all good lapdogs do: Rolled over. Now, it’s on to the Senate for its pro forma approval:
War-funding legislation survived a fierce partisan battle in the House on Tuesday, a major step in providing commanders in Iraq and Afghanistan the money they would need for military operations in the coming months.
The $106 billion measure, in addition to about $80 billion for military operations, provides for an array of other spending priorities, including $7.7 billion to respond to the flu pandemic and more than $10 billion in development and security aid for Pakistan and Iraq as well as countries such as Mexico and the nation of Georgia.
Democratic leaders pushing the bill on behalf of the Obama administration had to overcome an unusual alliance. Anti-war Democrats opposed continued war spending and Republicans condemned $5 billion in the measure to secure a $108 billion U.S. line of credit to the International Monetary Fund for loans to poor countries.
Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Calif., top Republican on the Armed Services Committee, contended that Democrats were endangering troops by shifting money to create room for a “global bailout loan program.”
The vote was 226-202, with only five Republicans voting for the bill and 32 Democrats opposing it.
Here’s the roll call vote.
The five GOP members who voted for the bill:
Cao
King (NY)
Kirk
Miller
McHugh

This is a dark time. Power in its most raw forms is in ascendancy.
It would be easy to loose heart, but we cannot. We have many battles to fight, and we have a goal worth the costs.
(Sigh.) I absolutely can’t take this anymore. When the f*** is America going to wake up?
What was the point in electing Cao if he’s just going to vote the way Jefferson would have?
1. Removing the provision to ban the release of Abu Ghraib photos won’t help the military, to say the least. But since when did Obama ever worry about that? It’s not like he’s ever risked or sacrificed anything for this country. With one stroke of a pen Obama could classify the photos and be done with it, but he won’t.
2. “The Government is my shepherd, I shall not want.” ~Obama 23:1
3. Gotta love the “Cash for Clunkers” bill that’s making its way through the House and Senate as well.
We don’t have enough money for our own country, how are going to bailout other countries?
Peter King supports this? Why is Cao a republican? He keeps voting with democrats.
Let’s see now, our fearful leader is recorded on video tape stating that “we are out of money” and now he will approve a $105 BILLION line of credit to the IMF. WTF? Is this guy totally INSANE? And when is our glorious congress going to stop with the earmarks? HELLLLLOOOOOO? Millions to build a turtle underpass? How are we going to tell the turtles where the underpass is? Will we put up signs in turtle language giving directions? Do we need a turtle czar now? I am almost afraid to go to bed because I wonder what piece of insane legislation our president and our congress is going to come up with overnight. Do they have psych tests for presidents? Is there some way we can force him to take one? I think that we need to sue for an election re-do. I think that the democratic party exercised extreme prejudice by allowing Acorn to register far more dead and fake people than everyone else. This is truly community organizational discrimination.
Isn’t that about the same amount Obama says it will cost each year for his health care plan? ($1 Trillion over 10 years = $100 Billion per year.) We know his health care bait & switch plan will cost a lot more than that, but does anyone think the IMF won’t be demanding another bailout in a few months as well?
Democrats need to choose which is more important — a foreign bailout or health care for all Americans. They can’t do it all because there are always more good causes than there is money to pay for them. Or, as Margaret Thatcher put it:
This is a new emotion for me. I’m not sure how to respond to it. I’ve never really felt this way about any of our national leaders before, not even Carter. He just seemed like he didn’t have much to work with between his shoulders. He seemed harmless, just not to bright and a bit misguided.
I despise the female Clinton, which is sort of cathartic, and have a controllable loathing for the male one but this is different, this is more, this is deeper. I’m forced to sit back and watch this idiot destroy the nation grew up loving. The nation I put my life on the line for every day for three years, and would again.
What bothers me more is seeing those who could do something about it cowering in the shadows. Not a single voice being raised except those on conservative radio. May they continue strong.
What the world must be thinking as the idiot marches to his own beat unimpeded. Talk about loosing respect for America, its actually embarrassing. While in Iran they’re dying for their votes.
Do these a**holes know how to do anything that doesn’t involve spending more money for more ill-advised legislation?
This isn’t representative government; it’s being held hostage while being extorted.
I don’t think that congress and the president really care about how much of our money they spend. They will keep spending, and spending, and spending, until we are so far down the rabbit hole that gross, unheard of actions will be required. I saw it happen in Iceland many years ago. Runaway inflation and subsequent devaluation of the currency. They actually dumped millions in old currency coins into the ocean and it washed up on the beach. We used to go down and pick up handfulls as souvenirs. Worthless aluminum coins.
They know they can pay for it all. All they have to do is inflate the currency and raise taxes. Not a problem, quit yer b1tcin’.

My grandchildren know I didn’t vote for, or support this new “Lenin”. I hope they remember that, years from now, when I’m long gone, and not spit on my grave. Of course, the reverse may happen… I may be classed as a “counter-revolutionary”.
There is no more money. How’s this to be paid for? What programs are going to be cut, or what taxes are going to be raised to offset this spending?
Everyone in this country needs to raise their tax withholdings to the max so they can get the most of their paycheck. Then, with the Feds limping along on the lower tax revenues, on April 15th, shoot them the bird and nobody pay their tax bill.
All of them are damned bastards. All of them (Well, except maybe just one)
Why do we provide welfare to countries that never miss an opportunity to piss on the US every chance they get?
You might want to revisit your opinion. He was a trained nuclear engineer. He’s bright enough, he’s just a leftist and doesn’t let facts and logic influence his ideological biases. Such men in positions of power aren’t harmless.
I realize that socializing medicine will reshape the way Americans vote for their politicians. They will stop asking the government to leave them alone, and will look for what services these politicians will provide. It will turn the US into a socialist state. There must be some reason why the democrats and obama want to spend US dollars on foreign banks. I just don’t understand their motive here.
What the hell is Peter King thinking?
They also removed the language preventing the release of alleged prisoner abuse.
Yeah… Obama has their back… and when the NYT releases the photos, he’ll make some excuse about not being able to cover every avenue.
I absolutely hate… yes hate… our representatives. They are weak and spineless self serving pieces of &^$@.
Geez. What moron borrows money to give away? Nobody but our gov’t is that stupid. Anyone thinking the gov’t will do anything about the deficits and not bankrupt the treasury is out of their mind. This is the perfect example of gov’t stupidity. Sorry, but I don’t see the US, as we know it, lasting another 50 years (at the most). We will be bankrupt and unable to borrow to pay for our largesse and socialist programs. Add poverty to the multicultrualism/diversity our gov’t foisted upon us, and civil unrest will become the norm. Diversity will not seem so great when prosperity is gone. Count on it.
The proposed immigration amnesty is the largest looming disaster. If anyone has an ounce of patriotism left in their body they will march on WAshington and make Iran’’s riots look like a picnic!
You mean that…. we’ll be like Europe?
Which is Obama’s stated goal for America.
Still glad you voted for him libs? yes? Does the term Sloth mean anything to you then?
Here’s the message I get; “We are the world…we are the people. I can only do so much on the inside. Please help me change the face of America. The world is in crisis, and needs to evolve now, before it’s too late. Here’s some “seed money” to start the destruction sequence…”; so says the Teleprompter In Chief.
First, it will be worse than Europe. Europe worships multiculuralism like all western countries. However, most countries in Europe will not be as “diverse” as the US (ie no one ethnic group will have absolute power of numbers over the others in the US) so any civil unrest will be shortlived and settled quickly. Additionally, each country in Europe is very proud of their culture and heritage (hence why so many wars). The gov’t has forced multicult on them. Eventually, the people will fight back against all the nonsense. The “nationlist” parties gained seats in most all European countries recently. While here, our gov’t is pushing for amnesty and higher immigration levels (of course from 3rd world countries).
Sorry if I am slow, but what are you implying? I didn’t vote for obummer, nor am I a liberal. I would be considered so far right as to be off the scale by the MSM (on most issues).
You are 100% correct. I fully beleive amnesty will have not only short term implications, like a huge popultaion growth due to chain migration and new illegal immigration, but will doom this country in the long run. Divisions of language, culture, and ecnomics will be created that will lead to civil issues if/when we experience true hard times again. I have never understood how importing millions of poor/uneducated people from the 3rd world each year benefits a modern technlogical society.
Why you ask, here’s a few of important reasons ways…1, Onbama. 2. 59 libturd senators, along with varying numbers of Republican so called moderate Senators 3. 235 libturd rep.’s, along with any number of Republican so called moderate Rep.’s
Good place to start don’t ya think? Term limits comes to mind.
does anyone think how wealthy this country could be if managed in a conservative manner. A Fair Tax and get the businesses back here instead of forcing them overseas, drill and refine for oil here, getting rid of the 50 asinine epa gas statndards, only because we have more oil that Saudi Arabia has or did have, tart reform…just a few ideas to get this country started on a future more prosperous than this great country has experienced yet.
In short get the government out of our lives.
