Iran vs. the Internet

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 17, 2009 05:31 AM

Information providers and their conduits, like people, just want to be free. No matter. Outmaneuvered by dissidents on Twitter, Facebook, and blogs, Iran has declared war on the Internet.

It’s a war the Luddite mullahs will lose:

Iran’s most powerful military force is warning online media of a crackdown over their coverage of the country’s election crisis.

The Revolutionary Guards, an elite body answering to the supreme leader, says Iranian Web sites and bloggers must remove any materials that “create tension” or face legal action.

I wonder what will garner more attention: the mullahs crushing online dissent, or FauxBama crushing a fly?

    Or perhaps Michelle’s outfit today?

I wonder how long it will be before the government takes a lesson from Iran and starts blocking sites too (expanded Fairness Doctrine). Uh, “for the children”, of course.

All the Mullahs have to do is just pass out AOL CDs to everyone, that’ll slow things down a bit.

I heard NYT was publishing Iranian twitter profiles. Probably true as they like to print secrets to put people in danger.

    Question ~
How long before OUR Web Czar is appointed?

the mullahs just need to speak to the google boys, and they will happily limit access any way they can. when not limiting access, they can bombard them with ads for riot gear and tips on throwing molotov cocktails.
