AmeriCrooks Watch: Meddling Michelle Obama to keynote volunteerism conference

Well, well, well.
Michelle, Michelle, Michelle.
Guess where the First Lady will be on Monday?
Why, she’ll be delivering the keynote address at the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering and Service in San Francisco.
And who is co-sponsoring the conference?
Why, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS)!
Yes, that’s the same CNCS that is the parent organization of AmeriCorps.
It’s the same CNCS that last year suspended Sacramento mayor/Obama crony Kevin Johnson from receiving federal funds after then-inspector general Gerald Walpin blew the whistle on massive fraud and abuse of AmeriCorps dollars for personal and political gain.
It’s the same CNCS that then sat by and meekly watched Team Obama and the U.S. Attorney in Sacramento railroad Walpin after the November 2008 election for doing his damned job.
And now, there is no honest, independent watchdog to raise questions on behalf of taxpayers as the Obama political machine takes over the national service juggernaut. How…convenient.
By the way: The First Lady’s former chief of staff, Jackie Norris, starts her new job as “senior adviser” (translation: Michelle O’s mole) at CNCS on Monday. And from the AmeriCorps press release published yesterday:
“The First Lady has made service and volunteering a life calling, and her leadership is helping to inspire a whole new generation of Americans who are making service a part of their daily lives,” said Nicola Goren, Acting CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service. “Her participation demonstrates the high priority the White House has placed on service as a way to help in our nation’s recovery.”
“First Lady Michelle Obama knows first-hand the power of service to transform lives and communities,” said Michelle Nunn, CEO of the Points of Light Institute and co-founder of HandsOn Network. “We are thrilled that she chose our national conference as the platform to launch United We Serve. She has made service a centerpiece of her agenda, and her appearance will add a burst of excitement and a new significance to this gathering of service leaders as well as our larger efforts to usher in a new era of service.”
I first raised questions about the First Lady’s meddling into the AmeriCrooks mess on June 12 after following up on little-noticed reports in the niche publication Youth Today detailing Mrs. Obama’s active role and interest in staffing the top management at CNCS. As I noted last week:
Mrs. Obama’s interest is more than passing. She ran the AmeriCorps-funded non-profit Public Allies in Chicago from 1993-1996 and served on its national board until 2001. Like so many of the AmeriCorps recipients investigated by the inspector general’s office over the years, Public Allies was found to have violated basic eligibility and compliance rules. A January 2007 audit reported that the group lacked internal controls verifying that recipients who received education grants and living allowances were legal citizens or permanent residents as required by law.
Michelle Obama’s installation as the face and voice of the government volunteerism boondoggle only deepens suspicions about the role she and her staff may have played in Walpin’s sacking. So does her past exploitation of the “community service” mantle to reward Chicago politicos (see “The Obama horror story you won’t hear”).

On Tuesday June 9, just one day before the White House first asked him to step down, the agency asked him to make a speech on June 23 in San Francisco to a conference of some 2,000 staff members and grantees. The invitation, he said, was delivered by Gretchen Van De Veer, director of the Office of Leadership Development and Training at the Corporation for National and Community Service.
“They begged me to come,” he said. “Why would they do that if they thought I am incapacitated?”

Well, here’s the San Francisco Chronicle’s Carla Marinucci previewing the “frenzy” over Michelle Obama’s upcoming visit:
First Lady Michelle Obama is kicking off a White House push to underscore the importance of volunteerism in San Francisco on Monday — a move that will have political figures here elbowing each other to get in the frame with her.
But step aside, folks, it’s California First Lady Maria Shriver who snags that honor before all. Volunteerism has long been her leading issue, and she’s going to be alongside First Lady Michelle for the day in the starring role.
…”During this summer, the president is renewing his call to all Americans to identify needs in their communities, engage in meaningful service to create change — and stay engaged with these projects long after September,” says the Obama Administration press release, which urges Americans to hit the website of the Corporation for National and Community Service for ideas on where to volunteer.
But having Michelle Obama on board in San Francisco to make the case is a coup, bigtime, for Shriver and California; it not only ensures that armies of TV cameras will be focusing on state and local efforts, but brings out an adoring public — and that horde of local elected officials to lend support (and get in the picture).
Despite the MSM protectionism, this scandal is not going away.
I have a terrific volunteerism project: Volunteer to do the job the obsequious professional journalists won’t do. There will be national service events involving Team Obama members on Monday all over the country. Volunteer to serve your country by showing up and asking why Dear Leader undermined the IG protection law he helped co-sponsor in cutting Walpin loose.

It’s a shame that some good things come wrapped in lies, thievery, thuggery, and quests for personal power and aggrandizement at any cost. We could do so much more if we had some sort of honesty in our politicians(and their spouses and other paid family members.) I’ve watched Hugo Chavev closely since I lived in Venezuela in 2004. Obama is following his destroybook closely.

I wish I could remember who said it, but some very wise person observed that any organization that is not expressly conservative will be subverted by collectivists to their own use. You can see examples everywhere, no matter how apolitical and innocuous the original organization was.

In U.S. politics we’ve gone from doing what we say to mostly doing what we say to saying whatever suits the moment–regardless of efficacy. Obama speaks to the moment with little or no concern for consequence other than personal. Now, sadly, I have no faith in his word or that of his minions.
Ragspierre #7–I remember well LBJ promising no involvement or escalation in Vietnam. Then, after I had served my first two tours there he stopped the bombing regularly and then he quit and went home. He was well known for his politicking skills that were addictive for him. He was a player, like Obama is today.
We need to support the people who are working this story…and I mean all of them, including the Senators and Congress members and their staffs.
This needs to go viral, and be kept that way.
There is merit in that. But THE ONE has a set of attributes, and a set of circumstances, that NOBODY in our history has had. He is easily the most dangerous man I have seen in American politics, at the most dangerous time I’ve known in our history.
That has to be our realization, before we can do things to counter these dangers.
Ragspierre #15–I agree. He has his hardened beliefs and attitudes that are running forward without interference in a period reminiscent of 30’s Europe and current South America. The patterns are classic. Where I live, in Guatemala, there is seemingly no attempt at honesty. Political power is simply a license to steal and intimidate. The people know this, but follow along anyway.

He’s most dangerous not only for having the House and Senate as well as the press, but because way too many people in this country voted for him who are drinking the kool-aid. The only thing, it seems, that will change the people’s attitude is when they are finally clubbed over the head with the harsh realities of tyranny, whether it be soft or hard. Let’s hope they wake up sooner rather than later, but I’m not that hopeful when many of them are either the “whatever” generation, or on the dole. Nevertheless, the Alinsky plan for a community organizing platform of criminal organizations along with the aforementioned secretary advocates will be hard to dismantle. These thugs won’t go quietly. Especially if Obama can brazenly dismiss the even the government watchdogs.
I am not hopeful in the least with regard to the common Obama-follower, not when they’ve been indoctrinated to hate this country, and have nothing but their local rag and the MSM to provide them with “the news.”
Also, I’d point to the examples of other “great leaders” who crushed their people’s spirits and made them into child-like government dependents. What did these people do when these tyrants died? They went into deep, uncontrollable mourning.
The “cult of personality” is indeed going on with the Obama administration, despite the fact that there is so little in the form of “personality” going on with him. I’ve never seen so many people follow one so empty and vacant in my life. He makes Dubya look like JFK.
What an interesting list of events! Obama must have told every single appointee to go out and do something on this date (or else?). Funny thing though, I don’t see any “czars” scheduled to be somewhere “promoting” volunteerism.
And where is the Treasury Secretary? What, he couldn’t find a tax shelter somewhere to help some poor taxpayer out? All he had to do is ask around. I’m sure a Senator or 2 could help him with the location of one.
What a looser!
Volunteerism happens after you have your basics handled. A job that allows you to support your family in whatever manner is comfortable for you. A home that you can afford to live in. Sufficient food to remain nourished. Adequate leisure time that permits you to give some of it back voluntarily, knowing that your basics, whatever they may be, are covered and you can focus 100% on the volunteerism so that it becomes a positive experience for the volunteer and those being served.
Obama demanding that people volunteer (or else) isn’t volunteerism, it’s slavery.
As the economic (and resultant mental) depression caused by the Obama administration worsens in the US, more and more people will be focused on having the basics and fewer and fewer people will be volunteering.
You don’t see much volunteerism going on in third world countries or the inner cities across the US. Do liberals ever stop and wonder why? Never mind, I already know the answer.
The best and maybe only way to increase voluteer work is to have a thriving robust economy so people can afford to give to organizations and individuals who do volunteer work. Volunteer work is not done in a vacuum. It requires organization and resources. Following policies that destroy the economy will in turn destroy volunterism.
It isn’t complicated.
My experience, I did non-profit volunteer type work for 6 years doing medical relief in East Africa, is that liberals talk a mean story about volunteering, tell others they should volunteer, however do very little of it themselves.
Unless it pads their liberal resume….

A life calling? But, I thought she believed that she had never been proud to be an American in her entire adult life, and that America was just plain mean? While trying to redo the image of America, it looks like they’re trying to redo hers as well.
The picture above is a just, and true portrayal of Michelle Obama. Astute people can see in this photo, her inherent suspicion, distrust, and one other thing I just can’t put my finger on …but it is not good. (You know, that feeling you get when you meet someone for the first time, and your “gut” tells you to “beware?”)
She is hiding something. Perhaps the knowledge of the “real agenda” that her crowd has in store for us…and if it was good, you can be sure they wouldn’t be hiding associations, having meetings without press coverage, etc., etc.
I think trust is going to become the number one issue with Democrats very soon. The maintain important leadership roles with above the law types, hold no one to ethical standards except their opposition, and they all exude an air of arrogance. We need an exterminator, folks! Re #7: The libs have succesfully infiltrated the Republican party over the years. McCain was no conservative, amd Powell is again trying to “open our concepts”. Its the old progressive subjigation tactic along with infiltration. I don’t know if it was mentioned or not, but that picture was taken while she and the First Lady Carla Bruni were “visiting.” Hummmmm….maybe it was something Carla said, or maybe it’s just Michelle’s ugly showing. That woman is ugly in and out.

Now I’m all confused. If volunteers are paid, what’s the difference between a worker and a volunteer? Last I heard, involuntary servitude is not legal anymore. So, aren’t we all volunteers? Or do you have to be sponsored by the government to be called a volunteer in Obamaland?
“Voluntary army” is a reference to soldiers who voluntarily signed up as distinguished from those who were involuntarily drafted as was the case in the past. Soldiers and firemen also volunteer to put their lives on the line. Even so, we don’t normally call them volunteers, we call them soldiers and firemen. Volunteering to teach kids to read is not quite the same (well, I do have one grandchild who might justify hazard pay).
But why are we using tax money to pay two people (school teacher and volunteer) to teach the same kid how to read? That’s almost as insane as paying North Korea to stop building the same nuclear weapons we already paid them to stop building. (At least volunteers are not using the money we pay them to enhance their nuclear weapons program.)
When I look into those eyes I get a chill up my blain and can only mutter Yeesh!

The federal corporation is a communist style organization that will now broker billions in bag money to pawns of Soetoro.
No one in the MSM is looking at the connection between organizations dominated by leaders who are Followers of Islam, say for example in Dearborn Michigan or Detroit? Or in other urban centers.
There is going to be disparate spending from Americorpse and ACORN in these areas.
Also, no one is looking into the role of sharia compliant banking interests based in Indonesia and the US Treasury Departments disbursement of TARP funds by one Timothy Geithner…. the Treasury is being used to payoff Followers of Islam to come to the Global Banking Cartel’s table…. and the media is not tracking the story. Remember: no one in the Soetoro administration who is in charge of monitoring or tracking TARP funds KNOWS-and has testified before Congress, as documented here on MM–where the money is going.
Soetoro now has Lt Worf in the public eye right on schedule as his foreign policy tanks. More media cake for the masses. Like a trained pony she’ll make it look acceptable for a while until this IG scandal arrives in front of her sneakers or decides it’s stinky enough to compost her garden with.
Then she will freak out.

It does seem a little suspicious. You would think that being a accomplished lawyer, selfless humanitarian, philanthropist, international fashion icon, owner of the greatest arms known to mankind, bestest mother ever and inspiration to women everywhere, somebody would have heard of her before BHO decided to run for president. It must have been institutional racism that kept her name out of the headlines.
Have you folks heard that ACORN is changing its name? We need to make sure that they are always referred to as ___________, formerly known as ACORN. People have a short memory and they think by changing their name, the dotted line between all the corrupt organizations will be broken. Are they serious??? This is another form of instanity. The thugs over in Iran that are killing the protesters are a special volunteer army of citizens who are loyal to the Ayatolla. They sound very much like what Obama wants to form here in this country. The regular Iranian military apparently is not willing to kill the citizens. But this volunteer group of thugs have no such qualms. Reminds me of a black panther with a night stick at a polling place. Obama is indeed working on forming such a group as we speak. The only different is that we have weapons and the people in Iran don’t. If the protesters over there had weapons, those thugs would run away screaming for their mommies.

Oh My God. Obambi is on TV yet again right now. It is 11:00, his usual time to show up…Rush Limbaugh starts at 11:05. I really don’t think the timing is accidental. The POTUS is THAT petty.
