Obamacare ground troops at the airport

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 22, 2009 02:37 PM

I’m at Denver International Airport waiting to pick up family.

In Terminal East, I was accosted by two young people from an outfit called “Progressive Future.” They are standing with clipboards and propaganda pimping Obamacare.

Don’t have time right now to look them up, but I asked one of the young Obama-bots who funded his group.

He didn’t know.

Wouldn’t be surprised if stimulus dollars or AmeriCorps funding was subsidizing this.

The young man handed me a flyer using “right-wing Republicans in Congress,” “Rush Limbaugh and Fox News” to scare the sheeple into support the government health care takeover.

On the one hand, it shows how organized the ground troops are.

On the other hand, can you think of a sillier place to engage citizens in a discussion of health care than in the middle of an airport with busy travelers rushing to and from their flights?

    From their website:

    Our Strategy
Our primary strategy is to build the progressive movement in four interconnected ways. First and foremost, we focus on building the progressive activist base. Next, we do this by working across a range of issues—activating citizens who care not just about the environment or health care, but see the connections between these and other critical issues. We push forward our agenda through public education, grassroots advocacy, and working to elect more progressive candidates. And, finally, we seek to tie our work back to a coherent framework of values that binds us together as progressives and differentiates us from right-wing conservatives.

Funny, in reading their website, all you see is “right wing” here and “right wing” there…jees…get over it. It’s almost comical.

And here’s more copy for fodder:

The right wing is very good at talking about values. They say “family values” and everyone knows what they mean (keeping women tethered to the kitchen and gays locked out of the house). They talk about limited government and we all know that means tax cuts for the rich and free reign for polluters and other corporate crooks.

It’s time we progressives talk a little less about policy and a little more about our values. We’ve got broader themes that hold together our worldviews as well. They don’t have a monopoly on morals—and we’ll take our values over theirs any day.

Wow, I didn’t know I was tethered to the kitchen! Are they serious?

    Priority Action

Quality, Affordable Health Care for all Americans

    Access. Cost. Quality.

Our current system is failing us in every way.

As President Obama has said, we can’t afford to wait another year to fix health care. Doing nothing is dragging down our economy, costing countless lives, and leaving nearly 50 million Americans without coverage.

We’re joining SEIU, MoveOn, US Action and others as part of the Health Care For America Now! coalition. And, this summer we’ll be talking to tens of thousands of citizens about pushing President Obama’s health care plan past Rush Limbaugh and the insurance industry.

We’re mobilizing support around this petition to our members of Congress.

To learn more about Progressive Future’s work on health care, click here.

    More:

Our health care system is failing us miserably in every way: cost, quality, and access.

Put simply, we are paying far too much for inferior quality health care that leaves Americans at the mercy of profit-driven insurance companies, and millions without any insurance at all.

Have they ever been treated by a hospital outside the USA? Ever? “Inferior” is not the word that first comes to mind when I go to a health care facility here. What planet are these guys on?

    Dear Friend,

Last week, I announced United We Serve – a nationwide call to service challenging you and all Americans to volunteer this summer and be part of building a new foundation for America.

And when I say “all,” I mean everyone – young and old, from every background, all across the country. We need individuals, community organizations, corporations, foundations, and our government to be part of this effort.

Today, for the official kick off of United We Serve, members of my administration have fanned out across America to participate in service events and encourage all Americans to join them.

The First Lady is rolling up her sleeves and getting to work too. But before she headed out today, she asked me to share this message with you.

    Bitter Mama’s Message website/blog

Our nation faces some of the greatest challenges it has in generations and we know it’s going to take a lot of hard work to get us back on track.

While Michelle and I are calling on every American to participate in United We Serve, the call to service doesn’t end this fall. We need to stay involved in our towns and communities for a long time to come. After all, America’s new foundation will be built one neighborhood at a time – and that starts with you.

    Thank you,
    President Barack Obama

Time for this Right Wing, Rush Limbaugh Premium member, FOX News watcher, Shepple my arse, member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy to spend some time at the airport  oh yea.

I told her she was wasting her time and I’d just through the info away anyway. I could tell that she had not run into many dissenters by her reactions to me. I am looked upon by my peers at the art festivals that I participate in as an oddity. Send a message to the Senate —
    Dear Senator:
Unless you want to be known as one of those in DC that helped push the nation out of the 2009 Recession and into a full-blown Depression, I strongly suggest you Vote Against Cloture on any “Public Option”, “Single payer”, “Universal”, “Government”, “National”, and/or Kennedy/Dodd Healthcare “Reform” bill! As the old song says, “we’re knee deep in the big muddy but the d_ _n fool says to push on!” Just SLOW Down, already!
The idea of National Socialist style Health care scares me to death!
Why National Health Care Should Scare You –
As I was reminded by Matt Lewis recently, the scheme to nationalize health care is really frightening. While Americans should all oppose it on principle – there are also self-preservation reasons, as well.
It is clear that countries which have socialized health care require long waiting periods for treatment (no matter how much you are willing to pay), e.g. – Let’s say you have cancer, and it will cost you tens of thousands of dollars for treatment. And, you don’t have insurance; while this is certainly a bad predicament, it is not an impossible situation. While you might have to borrow or ask in order to be treated, a person can find a way in the USA to receive treatment – regardless of his or her AGE!
But if the government tells you that it’s too expensive, or that you’re too sick, or that you’re too old to be treated, or that you brought it upon yourself – then where do you go? Well in the Orwellian/Obaman World of National Socialist Health care – the Government bureaucracy will deny or postpone treatment!

    —————————————-

And please pass the message on!
    Thanks.

One of them mistook me for a young airman he could incite to “contribute” to their cause and offered me the standard ‘free gift’ to get me to stop and listen to the ‘pitch.’

I said “Thank You!’ and promptly grabbed the gift while continuing on my way. The H.K was still standing there sputtering as I dropped said ‘free gift’ in the trash further down the concourse.

I came back through the same airport several days later and the same guy saw me coming and got out of the way!

Try this on those giving out the pamphlets in Denver. Tell them you will help distribute as many as they will give you and then shove them in the nearest trashbin. You are not lying, you indeed are redistributing their garbage to where it belongs.
