The left-wingers don’t like anyone who calls Michelle Obama what she is — the First Crony. Media Matters is up in arms over my chat with America’s Morning News anchors Melanie Morgan and John McCaslin last week about the First Lady’s meddling in the AmeriCrooks scandal. Here’s what I said:

I don’t like MSM telling me she’s something she’s not: beautiful. So we’re even.
With the Obamas, it’s always orders of magnitude easier to attack the person making the charge than it is to refute the charge.
Looking at the Media Matters responses, it was apparent that nobody bothered to consider the merits of the story.
They just attacked Michelle.
This has some interesting ramifications. None of them are good, to my mind.

It’s silly to call her a crony, not because she doesn’t favor cronyism, but because if she does, it’s her friends who are the cronies, not her. That’s just the definition. You’ll need to find another perjorative that actually makes sense.
But speaking of cronyism, the Obama has nothing on the Bush White House that was just swarming with W’s old Texas wingmen and women. And I don’t seem to remember anyone on the right crying foul, until he tried to appoint one of them to the Supreme Court.

I found that blurb from United We Serve to be absolutely one of the creepiest things I’ve ever read.
That’s been the strategy of the MSM and the left as a whole. It worked so well with Dan Quayle that they’ve used it ever since. Just look at the way they attacked Palin. It certainly wasn’t on issues.

But having a lot of people who you worked with in Austin work with you in Washington isn’t necessarily cronyism. It’s what they do, and the connections, especially those involving corruption and money, that make it cronyism.

I wouldn’t call Hope-a-Dope’s wife the First Crony as much as The Puppet Master.
