Two items to raise the blood pressure of law-abiding, hard-working Americans:
1) From the L.A. Times: “San Francisco D.A.’s program trained illegal immigrants for jobs they couldn’t legally hold.”
As she runs for state attorney general, prosecutor Kamala Harris faces questions over a program that trained illegal immigrant drug felons for jobs, kept them out of jail and expunged their records…Harris, 44, was elected district attorney in 2003 and reelected in 2007. She designed Back on Track to help young adults who are arrested once for selling drugs; the goal is to help them avoid falling into a life of crime. Like cities and counties across the nation, San Francisco was already running several programs with that goal.
Back on Track participants agree to plead guilty to a drug felony and spend a year in the program, a mix of community service, employment and life-skills training, family counseling and English lessons for those who need them. While in the program, they are free to live where they wish.
Even natural adversaries of the district attorney have applauded Back on Track.
“It’s very innovative for the district attorney to have a program like this,” said Simin Shamji, a deputy public defender in San Francisco. It might work better, she said, if the D.A.’s office ceded some control and collaborated more with social service agencies.
Over the last four years, 113 admitted drug dealers have graduated from the program, while 99 were yanked for failing to meet the requirements and sentenced under their guilty plea, according to the D.A.’s office.
Harris said graduates of the program are far less likely than other offenders to commit crimes again, but her spokeswoman declined to provide detailed statistics.
And now, the D.A. who hatched the program is running for state Attorney General.
Californians get what they deserve.
2) The Associated Press follows up on a New York City public schools nightmare story that pays bad teachers not to teach at a cost of $65 million a year to taxpayers.

I am so sick of all this unbelievable stupidity!! I need a day off, and plan to turn off the TV and read a good beach book, work in my garden, and get my blood pressure back down. I’m sure the madness will be there when I return, but I need to protect my sanity. Michelle, I hope you do the same occasionally, as we desperately need you to stay healthy!
Lately, I feel like I’m in that Sienfeld episode where Costanza does everything the opposite of what his gut tells him. It seems that every decision government makes, on all levels, is the opposite of the decision that they SHOULD make.
I’m with you happy. I don’t know how much more I can take! I have never seen such corruption. As for a good book, Glenn Beck’s new book “Common Sense” is pretty good so far but it still makes you depressed.
If I did something illegal or questionable, I wouldn’t get a rubber room – I’d be shown the door.

I was going to say that there are no adults leading the State of California, but clearly, there are…the problem is that most of them are agents, not of change, but of the Mexican government, tasked with liquidating the wealth of American citizens and their businesses, as punishment/reparations for “stealing” the West coast of Aztlan.
Unfortunately, this entitlement cancer is spreading, enabled by the co-dependancy of Democrats, labor unions, and the Obama Fasci-machinen….
The only question I have for the CALIFORNIA CITIZENS??? How long are the 50% who pay the BILLS, going to put up with the 50% who are sucking at the teat of the public trough??? Someone in that sorry excuse for a STATE has got to start to FIGHT BACK!!!

If I read it correctly, it seems that Baucus of Montana is thinking about favoring union members that receive health insurance benefits over non-union recipients.
Bingo. I’d become a teacher, but my sense of personal responsibility would make me feel guilty if I tried to do what these people get away with.

Yeah, I take offense to that as well, Michelle. Not all of us can just pack up and leave the state because of what it’s become. I voted down all of the tax hikes and have written letters to Senators but all I have the time to do is work. And work my arse off I do. My business is here and much as I’d like to sell it, between Obama and the states financial issues, I can’t. Add two sets of ailing parents anchoring me here and you have a victim of California and not someone deserving of all this BS.

Well, I’m not going to offer an opinion on that one – other than to say that neighboring states suffer from the open borders idiocy officially espoused by CA. We in Oregon pay a price when states that should buttress the illegal inflow instead choose to welcome it.
2. Did anyone notice that the proponents of this program failed to recognize that it has a failure rate of about 45%? “Success” in the eyes of a Bay Area government employee….(sigh).
3. Here’s my alternate plan: A long jail sentence, followed by mandatory restitution/work/work release, and then a long, hot, bumpy, uncomfortable ride back to your country of origin with a permanent ban from re-entry into the US.
LGM probably wants on board with the NYC program me thinks..

I pay attention every single day to the idiotic proposals coming out of Sacramento. People here are angry and fighting back. What Californians opposed to the insanity don’t need right now are out-of-staters to come sniffing around with their holier-than-thou attitudes.
I read the article you cited and it says nothing about the money going to pay for “illegals and illegal murderers”. Obama is the one that cut the reimburments to states for incarcerated illegals. Translation: the rest of the states get a reduction in money going to keep illegals in prison, California parents pick up the tab. Glad to know we’re all in this together. Anything else us Californians can do to help you poor, suffering outsiders?

Most of the other states are having their own financial problems and don’t need to be taxed to fund your stupidity. You elected these idiots, you continue to re-elect them, you deal with it. Well, that proves it then. I’m sure Obama will take her word for the success of her program and implement it nationwide. In fact, it sounds like a good candidate for solving Obama’s Gitmo problem in time to close it next year. Expunge terrorist’s records in exchange for a year in a counseling program. And, “while in the program, they are free to live where they wish.” What could go wrong? After all, liberals view terrorists no worse than undocumented workers with felony records, right?

If you didn’t vote for any of these clowns, then it truely isn’t your fault. But those who did vote for them, as well as those who voted for Odopey, deserve what they get. That’s my explanation and I’m sticking to it.Somehow I’ve either fallen down the “rabbit hole” or I have woken up on “Htrae”. Anyone have any ideas how I can get back to Earth?
