Al Gore is traveling to Washington today to whip House Democrats on tomorrow’s cap-and-tax bill.
No word on the amount of bogus carbon offsets ManBearPig’s trip to the Hill will cost:
Former Vice President Al Gore will meet with House Democrats Thursday to appeal to reluctant lawmakers to approve the controversial climate change bill on Friday, FOX News has learned.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is rolling the dice with her plan to lug the bill to the House floor without the full confidence that the legislation will pass.
Senior Democratic leaders are whipping and cajoling skeptical lawmakers to side with them to approve the measure that could have significant economic impact on the energy bills of many Americans and even drive up the price of food.

Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won’t pinch wallets, behind the scenes they’ve acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit $5 a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.
The reality is that cost estimates for climate legislation are as unreliable as the models predicting climate change. What comes out of the computer is a function of what politicians type in. A better indicator might be what other countries are already experiencing. Britain’s Taxpayer Alliance estimates the average family there is paying nearly $1,300 a year in green taxes for carbon-cutting programs in effect only a few years.
Americans should know that those Members who vote for this climate bill are voting for what is likely to be the biggest tax in American history. Even Democrats can’t repeal that reality.

Former Vice President Al Gore had been scheduled to deliver a final pitch to the House Democratic Caucus for the global warming bill on Thursday alongside Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), but Pelosi’s spokesman said Thursday morning that Gore will stay in Tennessee.
Drew Hammill said Gore’s presence is no longer needed.
“As the list of undecided Members narrowed, the Speaker thought it was unnecessary to impose on the vice president’s schedule to travel to Washington and instead to continue coordinating efforts from Tennessee,” Hammill said.

Strangely, the world wide ice levels are the same as they were in 1970 and the planet is cooling. Odd how this follows the output of energy from the sun far more acturately than how many cows are farting.
Regardless of whether global warming is real or not, no one seems to ask the dems how, if China, India, Brazil, and South Africa, don’t change either, this will reduce carbon emissions.

I’ve yet to hear a liberal explain why there’s evidence of warming and cooling cycles dating back to well before the Industrial Revolution, and even before the earth had half the population it does today. Or why we need to go broke to “save” the planet when our “consensus” data is a fraction of the earth’s history.
I don’t know about you, but a 100% increase on my energy bills, plus $5 gallon (or more) gasoline (not to mention the increased price of food and other goods) will bankrupt a lot of families. Aren’t wealthy people like you supposed to be evil?

Anybody that has lived in remote areas or a third world country quickly realizes nature is not something we need to protect but rather something we need to protect ourselves from. WTF??!! 5 1/2 hours maybe if the pilot was the guy was the lead pilot from Flight 19. What the hell is he flying on; the Graf Zeppelin Hindenberg or a kite? I believe if you mapquest it you might be able to drive the plane up I-81 in that amount of time. I think even Continental and United could get you here a half hour faster. This is NOT to say greenhouse gases will kill our planet, just that water vapor is a naturally occuring phenomenon we CANNOT control and it has even greater potential to cause global warming than Anthropogenic (man-made) gases.
As stated several times above, there is also a very large furnace some 93,000,000 miles away and nobody can change the thermostat on it! As also noted above, its sunspot activity has been at an all-time low which portends a lengthy cool spell.
As for the ‘models’ some rely upon, I have some experience with them in the area of wargaming and even when we have all the facts on a previous event (such as the Normandy break-out in WWII), the model predictions rarely reflect the actual outcome — this in spite of the reality that only facts are entered into the model (weather, troop numbers and disposition, leadership, discipline and capabilities, logistics, etc. etc.). There are just too many variables and changing one small (seemingly inconsequential) thing can tip the outcome in a totally unpredictable way.
