Cap and tax liveblog, Pt II: Pay attention to House floor games; 14 undecideds; let’s play “Where’s the Bill?”

At approx. 2:35pm Eastern, GOP Rep. Joe Barton announced that there is now a placeholder in the bill to be determined later.
Barton notes that this is unprecedented. He can’t recall any final passage of a bill that has a placeholder in it.
What the hell is going on?
This is deliberation? This is transparency?
Barton continues: “If you haven’t made your deal yet, come on down to the floor.” Waxman is making deals to pass the cap and trade bill right on the House floor.
Barton: “This is unprecedented…At least he’s doing it out in the open now.”
2:49pm: Corruptocrat Rangel chastises Republicans and praises horse-trading, deal-trading on the floor. “This vote will be remembered by the world.”
2:57pm: Dem Rep Levin calls cap-and-trade a “moral imperative.” What would these thieves & sneaks know about moral imperatives?
3:00pm: Overwrought Dem. Rep. John Larson inveighs against sucking up to Saudi Arabia.
Hey, I agree. Tell it to Barack Bow Wow Obama.
Too bad Rep. Larson can’t summon up half his passion in support for drilling in America to get us to energy independence.

4:02pm: Barney Frank on the floor. The placeholder has to do with regulating financial derivatives related to reducing carbon emissions. Says he’s confident they’ll have a good system in place.

4:05pm: Excellent exchange between chair and GOP Rep. Louis Gohmert. He asks for a physical copy of the 300-page-plus late-night amendment filed out of public view. Chair cannot tell him where one is. Rules him out of order for not making parliamentary inquiry. Chair stumped.
Barton asks chair if there is any rule requiring copy of bill being voted on to be nearby. Chair: Not that I’m aware of.
Barton asks if official copy is necessary to be at desk for final vote.
Chair says it’s at the desk. Barton says it’s not the official copy. Markey tells him to go to the cloakroom and look it up on the web.
Markey says the full bill and manager’s amendment is on the desk.
Chair rules that all the piles of paper at the desk “in effect” are an “official copy.”

4:22pm: Shadegg presses on access to bill at desk again. Chair says clerk is “integrating” pages of bill.
Rep. Bilbray: The biggest threat to environment is the smoke coming from the backroom deals surrounding this bill.
4:48pm: GOP Rep. Tom Price asks for moment of silence for all those who will lose their jobs under cap and trade. Heh. Request denied.
Rep. Pence: We can stop this bill. We can do better. And we must!
4:53pm: GOP Rep. Barton refers to suppressed EPA Carlin report. “The science is not there.”
Barton cites Spain’s green jobs boondoggle. Costs 2.2 regular jobs for every green job. “That’s not a revolution I want to be a part of.”
5:09pm: Ed Markey invokes “moral imperative” — pet phrase of the Left today.

5:17pm: Connie Hair reports from top GOP sources that Dems have pulled Patrick Kennedy out of rehab to vote.

That’s all I need to know. That pretty much sums up this whole thing.
Why can’t he just let Barton go down there? Politics is so lame sometimes! THIS is why they should never be in charge of something as important as our health care. They can’t even find a bill that they wrote. It’d be funnier if it wasn’t so scary.
I qualify as an expert a lot more that these “nutcases” in DC. At least I have a Masters Degree and a lot of experience. This whole thing is total junk science plus very expensive. No sane person would vote for this bill.

Essentially: This bill will reduce our dependence on foreign oil by 1 – 2 million barrels a day by 2030!!!!!!

My response: Hey we could have millions of new jobs right now, right here by drilling in the Gulf, drilling of California, drilling off Alaska, drilling in the shales, building nuke plants, better coal plants…..You know real exisiting jobs right now, good jobs, engineers, roughnecks, pipiline layers, refinery workers etc……but now we want to spend trillions and create pie in the sky new jobs in make believe industries.
Hammer them with that fact! A lot of the office workers I talked to paused and some said I made a very good point.

now they are arguing where the full copy with the extra 300 pages can be obtained…geeze…Markey says the copy is on the speakers podium…just whip out that library card and check it out….geeze this is government at its worst….
what the heck is in this bill and what was added via backroom deals….few if any have even read a portion of it yet they want to ram it down our throats….arg…………may God have mercy on us…

I simply want to cry that my country has come to this. Horse trading votes on the floor of Congress. Ignoring constituents, suppression of the facts, bill after bill scheming to totally unsettle the constitution and to ensure spreading the wealth of those who have worked hard for years to realize the American dream to those who are politically correct, bow to the almighty Zero and sit on their butts with their hands out.
It seems every week we are fighting another battle and we are losing badly. Now it’s come down to simply putting placeholders in bills where they don’t want the details to get out!
I not only don’t have a President, I don’t have representation because representatives are only voting for their beliefs regardless of my pleas.
And the bottom line: there’s nothing I can do about.
Hubby tried to send a note via house.gov to our rep (Bean D-IL). Site’s down.
There isn’t even a full copy on the house front desk so no way.
I had to turn C-SPAN off. These are the people we elected? I am ashamed that this is what we have for a government. The bill apparently is in 2 parts where amendments were issued at 3 am that override the original bill, yet the original bill is the only item being debated. It has become a circus when Waxman is giving out gifts right on the floor for going with his bill. Again no one has read it. It does nothing to make us energy independent, but will destroy what’s left of this country. I am so mad. I cannot believe that this is our government . You can see the partisan sides fighting it out. The GOP is getting the short end of the stick on every debate. If this passes we are done, but this is what Obama wants. Welcome to the NEW AmeriKA. How do you like this HOPE and CHANGE!

I called my Congressman Richard Neal’s (D) local office this morning. I could not get through to the DC one. They actually listened to me! They would not state where he stood on the bill but I think he is getting a lot of pressure from his constituents.
Things do not look good for the supporters of the bill. Are some actually starting to listen?
Where’s the proof that this will create millions of green jobs?
Where are the companies?
Where are the lines of investors waiting for their chance to put money into these as of yet, non existing green companies with all of those jobs that the out of work people will need?
These people just spout things off so often that they just see them as fact after a while.

Wow guy on the floor now says that one paragraph gives the EPA the ability to regulate ANY gas it feels is a green house gas, and makes the rest of the bill moot.
We need to make sure anybody who votes in favor of the Cap & Tax bill is VOTED OUT OF OFFICE!
Step 1
Call AND e-mail your congressperson today at ALL of their offices to tell them if they vote in favor of this bill you will vote them out of office.
Step 2
Find out who is runnning against each congressperson who votes in favor of this bill. Then work hard to visibly support candidates who oppose this bill!
If opposition candidates have not been identified yet, work with your local party leadership to find good candidates now.
It is not the most sophisticated palce on the Web, but look up any global warming article on Yahoo News and read the comments.
I have NEVER seen this much anger. The entry with the most positive votes read, “Pass it and you democrats are out in 2010.”
I have not learned how my Demo Lemming Congressman is going to vote or voted. I can guess. He’s a tool.

The details don’t matter when you belong to a party where the only thing that counts is “good intentions”. Arthur Caplan, in his mindless rantings on msnbc.com, makes that perfectly clear. He’s talking about health reform here, but it could just as well apply to the climate bill or any bill the Democrats put forward:
Later Caplan lets his true biases slip in when he refers to the “well-intended Obama administration.” Details don’t matter, but intentions do. If there’s a clearer expression of the liberal/progressive mindset than this article, I’d like to know about it.
I have called, emailed and FAXed my Rep, Joe Courtney CT. He has a ultimatum form me, vote no or I will not support you for re-election.

GOP Rep. Louis Gohmert is a good man. I spoke with him for about 15 minutes in the cloakroom when I was there for the “Texas Tea” Party last August.
There are a few good men and women in the House of Representatives. And thank God they are not taking this travesty lying down.
Called the office of Rep. Green. The lady who answered was very polite. She asked my name after I told her why I called and then wanted my zip code. I explained that I was not from Texas but Nevada and that I was calling because he was undecided and I was hoping to help persuade him to vote against this bill.
I then told her that even though I was not from Texas, I am from Nevada and that is in the United States and so his vote is important to me as we are all citizens of the same country and will be affected by this.
My own reps are pretty well set on their vote. Shelley Berkley is a solid Dem vote, Dean Heller is a solid Republican vote and Dina Titus has her head so far up Obo’s butt that she has no clue what is going on, but she’ll vote the way Harry Reid tells her.
God help us.

Waxman the worm just tried to cut of John Boehner’s speech where is he reading parts of the 3am amendment and doing a pretty good job of showing the holes and ridiculous provisions in this bill.
I don’t understand all of the procedures, but he has been allowed to continue.
John Boenher just handed Henry Waxman his Lunch. Boenher is reading through the 300 page ammendment “dropped” in the hopper at 3:09am.

I noticed the seats are filling up behind Boehner. They are animated and clapping and laughing at the sheer inanity in this BS bill. I hope the right people are getting it.
Well, I couldn’t get through on the phone, and the Write Your Rep site is hosed and just throwing an error. I hope that means that more than a few people are calling and writing.
Republicans seem to be putting forth a united front against this. If it passes, there will be no doubt how and who passed it.
Please God … is there really some hope for we the people? Think a letter from the Philippines would be any good? Anyone in Nevada that could send a letter of thanks from my addy there?
