The House will vote on the cap-and-tax bill today. Make your voice heard. Phil Kerpen at AFP has compiled a very helpful list, which I’m reprinting in full here. Check AFP site for latest updates and alerts.

The time has finally come for a vote on cap-and-trade, H.R. 2454. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called a vote just before the 4th of July recess, hoping to use the specter of keeping everyone in DC and ruining their holiday, to force cap-and-trade legislation through.

Wow, a pleasant surprise.
Yesterday evening the Capitol’s switchboard was jammed and my son couldn’t get through.
I emailed everyone after so at least I could have my say.
I don’t see Mack of Florida on any of the lists (unless I am blind); anyway, I called yesterday to ask him to vote “no”! This Bill must go down in flames, we must speak out loudly.
I’ve been trying to call since yesterday, and the lines have been jammed, even late at night. A good sign. This legislation is a travesty.
Anybody want to bet what the list would look like if there were not re-election concerns?
Same goes for Obamacare passage.
One thing that sadly is not getting much, if any, discussion is Hate Crimes legislation. Talk about a travesty to free speech! This one is flying right under the radar while our attention is turned to the other 2 crises… which seems to be the way ObamaInc does their best work.
Don’t forget card check too.
Considering Ron Klein (D-FL) dresses left or right based on Pelosi’s position, I don’t think it will do any good, but I’ll call anyway.

As usual, when I tried to call I get sent to Lynn Jenkins (KS) mail box and then get told the mail box is full.
Sorry but the politicians have gotten to me. I have stopped following the action alerts (and feel guilty about it) because I found during Pork = U Less and the Omnibus bills that everyone of them just take their phones off the hook and allow their phone and email boxes to fill up so they don’t have to listen to their constituents.
So this morning I gave it one more try and got exactly what I expected – a full mail box.
I am praying that the folks won’t forget about this in all the media hype about that pop singer who just died. It is unbelievable how that story has taken over the news…even FOX barely talking about anything else. This cap and tax bill is HUGE. Yet, the death of one person has derailed the discussion of one of the most important scams every foisted on the American people. Steny Hoyer was on FOX & Friends this a.m. and was spewing out some garbage about this bill that was 100% lies and deceipt. How can these libs live with themselves? If they can lie so convincingly that even I start believing them for a few minutes, you can imagine how the average American is taken in. And now, the death of a very talented boy who turned into a pedophile freak as he aged, is being revered in death as if he actually did something to contribute to society. Enough already!! Get a grip, America! There are more important things to deal with today, like the very downfall of our country. I weep for the screwed up priorities of the majority in this country who continue to try and walk around with their head up their a$$. Sorry for the rant. I am disgusted.
My blue boy here in Lane county Oregon, Mark Levin says is one of the most corrupt state legislatures in the U.S., says he’s against it, the way it stands. Looks like a signal to Piglousi, hey, give me some goodies and I’ll vote with you. Bastard!
Oklahoma is already a solid no and he’d better be if he knows what’s good for him.
I contacted my Rep.. but he supports the bill, despite the fact that his district is HUGELY against it. How is this representation?

I couldn’t get through to Rep. Tim Holden (D-PA) – busy signal – so I sent an email. PA is going to lift the rate caps on electricity next year; higher energy taxes would sink what little is left of the state’s economy.

Looks to me if then Republicans weren’t so squishy they should blow out the dems in the next elections, with bank bail outs, stimuless package, taking over private businesses, amnesty, crap and tax, socialized medicine and just about every other left wing bill being shoved down our throats, while there is more on the horizon like gun control(over my dead butt) card check, wait, that sounds the elections of ‘08…one of these days they might figure out how to fight these socialists.

I emailed my rep yesterday, now that his email webform recognizes my zip code as being in his district (it only took him 7 years), but I dont expect much out of him.
He will either vote yes, or he will vote present if their is to much of an outcry from his constiuents.

John Boehner is my rep, so of course this week he is leading the no’s.
I find the fact that the interest and coverage of Michael Jackson’s death (and life) is about 100 time more in-depth than this new tax that is about to be shoved down our throats is symptomatic of what is wrong in this nation. Watching all the mindless celebrity obsessed American mourning the death of some perverted musician of but indifferent to the death of their nation make me think this country is too far gone to be saved by reason. Worse, when gas and electric bills start shooting through the roof they will blame the greedy energy companies, all with the knowing silent approval of the Dems. I’m starting to believe nothing less than a complete economic meltdown will bring people back to reality.
So is my Rep., John Boozman. our John’s know how to flush the biggest tax in American history, let’s hope there are enough others joining them.

When this reaches the Senate, I wonder who I can call, Coleman or Franken? Hmmm… At least it’s not Franken-yet. One last good thing Coleman is doing for our state is delaying Franken’s reign of terror in the Senate. It is hard to believe this will pass the House. Seriously, are the majority of House Reps that screwed up? Oh, never mind. It’s not about who has any common sense, it is about “reaching across the aisle” and “bipartisan compromise”. And, those who can’t afford to have the truth come out about their affairs and use of prostitutes. I’m sure the strong-arm tactics of Rahm Emanuel and the other thugs will get this thing rammed through.

I don’t know how that blinking freak Pillowsy does it. She is so transparently stupid, yet manages to ram these thing through. She must have a HUGE file on everyone in the House.
I wrote to my Rep yesterday, who’s on the fence and “leaning ‘yes’” — If he votes for this I’ll go all out for “the other guy” in the next election.
I spoke with Congressman Mike Castle’s (R?- DE) office yesterday and they said he had not decided.
I politely and respectfully explained to them that whatever ($2T?) revenue is brought into the coffers will not be spent on “climate” and that the producers will pass the cost on to the consumers anyway.
I have a feeling there will be quite a few… “Non Votes”. This is one of those votes that could sink a candidate if they vote eitherway. I don’t see Vic Snyder (D-Arkansas) listed. Hell, I tried to get info from his office, and all I get is a formletter or prepared verbal answer from his office that doesn’t say one way or the other.
Has anyone gotten anything else? I would like to know if anyone has actually gotten a rational answer from any of the reps they have called.
Called my Rep. Ruppersberger (D-MD 2nd) just now and got thru in 2 rings. The young(?) lady who answered was very pleasant. All I said was I’d like him to vote no on HR 2454. I know it is fruitless to even bother doing this because he’s a dem and will vote YES regardless of how many calls his office gets to the contrary.
Felt good anyways.
Jeff Flake, AZ is definitely a solid NO. I’m going to call the other weasels in AZ to voice my opposition to the bill.
The phone person at Arkansas Rep. John Boozman’s office said he is voting against cap and trade.
I see Vic Snyder as a flaming liberal I can’t believe keeps getting re-elected.
I live in Massachusetts, where we breed mentally defective politicians like it is our job.
I will call, but it will certainly be a waste of time (unlike the time the reps might have put into actually reading the bill).
I just got off the phone with my rep’s office (Betty McCollum D-MN). According to the staffer, he doesn’t know her position. But she in not on the above lists, so must be viewed as a solid yes.
Called Illinois Rep Halvorson’s office, talked to a live person and reflected my thoughts as to why she should vote NO on the Cap & Trade bill. We have some sanity with Dems in Illoinois (South Side) that is. She represents many rural and collar counties, so it might make difference with her.
Sorry that’s Illinois and “a difference”, got excited that I talked to a live person…

The stink surrounding the Pelosi-Waxman-Markey cap-and-tax bill has become vomit-inducing overnight. Representative Waxman has decided to replace the 1091-page bill with a 300-page bill that will be debated for no longer than three hours today. So your elected representatives will have virtually no time to debate the merits of an economy-spanning bill they will not have had time to read. Speaker Pelosi and her sidekick Waxman are displaying nothing more than complete contempt for the democratic process.
If you’re as utterly disgusted by this as I am, you can send a message to Pelosi and her cronies by telling your Congressmen to vote against this bill. You can e-mail them, call them (202-225-3121), or text the National Taxpayers Union on 54608 and they will help.
I’ve talked to three live people! Just have to be patient with the busy signals, which hopefully is a good sign people are calling in to voice their opinion.
Both Kirkpatrick and Mitchell’s offices (AZ) said they haven’t made a statement on which way they will vote. Because I am not in their districts, not sure if my call will make a difference. I did tell them that I have friends in their district who will not vote for them if they vote yes.
Just called Yarmuth’s (D)-KY office in DC and asked him to vote no.
Repub Tim Johnson is listed as undecided. Someone on ace spoke to his office and was told that he intends to vote NO.
Obama: My plan makes electricity rates skyrocket.
Representative Robert Wittman (R-VA-1) does not appear to be listed.
I called. The person was polite and told me he plans to vote against.
Let’s give credit where due!
I talked with McCollum. Her phone rep said they could send me a statement on which way she is voting. I had no trouble getting through. I doubt she will change her vote or read the document.
I called Kildee’s office in DC. I also got through in 2 rings. The young aide who answered was kind and stated she did not know how he was voting. I explained any bill with “tax” behind isn’t good for America or Michigan since we have the highest unemployment. We have lost enough jobs already and don’t want to see anymore leaving USA or the cost being past onto taxpayers. She also wanted my name and address and phone number. I also informed her that my occupation is a conservative, govt. school teacher. I hope it doesn’t confuse Kildee when he reads it.
Face it folks, our congress is soooo screwed up that they vote like they are told by their party, not how their constituents (you know those little people they are paid to represent) ask them to vote.
Haven’t you all learned yet that “We the People” are nobody in their minds. They’ve learned that they keep getting reelected if they do what their leader tells them.
Graves and Jenkins from KS are both “No”, but I don’t think for one minute that it has anything to do with my call.
Jim Cooper D-TN, leaning yes. Phoned his office, busy signals until straight to voicemail..which is full. On to email and fax!
I see my Dem Congressman is undecided. Been trying to call but the line is busy, so I just sent him an email.
Thanks for the heads up Michelle. I found out that my congressman was on the fence regarding the vote. I managed to get through to express my outrage that he would consider voting for this c(r)ap. If he votes yes, he’s lost my vote.
Anyone calling should also ask if they’ve read the bill in its entirety before passing it.
And if not, why not. Then provide that information in the feedback on the link Ms Malkin provided.
It is unacceptable that these people will pass bills without reading them. We should take note of who is doing it and why.
Contacted Congressman Roscoe Bartlett today. The woman who answered the phone said that he is opposed to this bill and will be voting against it. And she confirmed that her phone lines have been lit up all day on this.
