Not today. The Houston Tea Party Society is worried about trying to throw something together at the last minute only to have no one show up and have news coverage try to make it sound like no one is there because no one cares.
Instead they’re encouraging people to buy black ribbons and tie them to light poles, street signs, utility poles, and car antennas, particularly around high traffic public buildings in a hope to spark conversations about what the ribbons symbolize and what’s going on.
They do plan to put together something to protest Cap and Trade, it just won’t be this weekend. If you want to do something in Houston this weekend they suggest either helping the Conservador Alliance with outreach or taking part in the Iran protests.

So what is next? This vote confirmed that congress has no use for our opinions and haven’t a desire to even pretend to represent us. The next election is to far away to prevent the passage of more Obamacrap. The polls are geared to show phony support for these programs. MSM continues the farce with lies and spin. How do we impact those who benefit from this legislation? What can we do beyond attending Tea parties? How do we say no to this intrusion it our buying power? Will more foreclosures because of this tax get any attention? Do we picket the congressional offices during the 4th? What is it going to take to truly scare these people, because they don’t believe that they will be booted from office? They hide using the safety of their parties while they make deals on the floor over who will vote for or against whatever. I am sick of the lies, manipulations and all out treasonous behavior of people who have been paid by us to screw us! What right do they have to tax us into the poor house so they can line their own pockets. Maybe it’s time for every business to snub these traitors. Suppose they can’t get their grass cut because their landscapers quit. What would happen if they could not hire people to get anything done because no one will work for them? How many people does it take to wait on Princess Nancy? Suppose she had to fend for herself? Suppose they all had to fend for themselves?

I’ll be at the Tea Party in Newport News, VA on the 4th. My only regret is that I can’t attend it sooner.
Until then, here’s my somewhat experimental suggestion: mockery. Politicians in general seem to be able to absorb anger directed at them without any concern, and don’t much care about what we think. But mocking them with a parody of their own sense of superiority and ego might just get you somewhere.
Our self-styled overlords won’t be able to endure mockery from us “peasants” forever. That, and the humor may just stick to them. How will they stay in office indefinitely if we can reduce them to laughingstocks?
It might work and it might not. But it’s something to attempt before things have to get really nasty.
What say you, people? Lay down, or fight?
Fighting effectively does not require blood-shed or property destruction.
It does require commitment and sacrifice.
Hey, here’s a thought: instead of these stupid protests, which don’t accomplish much of anything, how about focusing on Congressional elections next time around, as opposed to fighting over who’s the least of the two evils in the drama-filled circus we call “Presidential elections”? And you know what? We won’t have to worry about said circus in 2010, so here’s our chance to not get distracted. Oh, and another thought: how about voting based upon principle vice party? (I know, this is a radical thought…) I’ve got news for you: Republicans don’t care about “conservatives”. Why? Because Republicans know you’ll always vote for them, mainly because they know you’ll never vote Democrat nor “waste your vote” on a third-party. So instead of being the country’s sheep, why not vote on the principles you say you espouse?
You wish to combat the Marxists? Then learn how they fight:

I did that in the last election, Send_Me. I’m right there with you. I tell you, being an independent conservative is a liberating experience.
They won’t “scare” because they are fanatics with a screwed up ideology. They don’t care. They want to ram through everything they can, while they still can, and dam the consequences. The only think I can think of is to let it happen, let it play out, and the sheeple will have to wake up. And then pray it isn’t too late to fix. I’m not sure there is anything else. Oh, and stock up on food, water and ammunition. My sister told me I was turning into a radical and was “scaring” her with that kind of talk. I told her not to come knocking on my door when she ran out of money and food. I mean it…I will not let her in.
We need to all copy and paste the above portion of the Declaration and e-mail to everyone in Congress over the next week, right before Independance Day!! Send it to everyone! I will. Just remind them to read it and remember why they are in Congress in the first place. And let them know they can be replaced by the people they work for. Don’t Tread on Me!
#21: It’s not too late to fix and it never is. My case in point: China.
They’ve been through emperors, mandarins, and communists. But now their economy is growing. Why? Because after their long, long history, they began using capitalism because they needed to create jobs. And a country that has been through emperors, mandarins, and communists is not only starting to grow, but could well become a superpower in the future because of it.
They fixed the problem by doing what works and not doing what didn’t. It still worked even after centuries of their history doing it the wrong way. I’ll grant that there may be some serious pain along the way, but it can work for us that way too.
The implication of this Cap and Tax bill cut deep into our way of life.
You will not be able to sell your home unless it meets a new Federal construction code. Building codes are no longer a local issue, it is a federal one. Any home sale will have to be inspected against that code and if it fails the seller will have to shell out the money to bring it into complience.
There is so much of this that goes against Federalism and what we as American’s take for granted that it turns the stumach.
There is no fear in Washington. Our elected officials can do what ever they please and all that pleases them is a new found power to shape our lives to their ideological sense of fairness and justice.
Unemployment is going through the roof, interest rates are going to skyrocket and these oafs are playing god with an economy that they will soon collapse.
And I sit here having contacted my representatives over and over again with no effect what soever. [Insert screem here!]

I agree with all those who say we must do more than tea parties. It’s like Congress has decided to ignore us. They are not concerned with our little tea parties because they are just nice little demonstrations that keep us occupied while Congress goes about its business.
Look how many people commented on blogs yesterday that they were told their “representative” hadn’t decided. One comment I read was from someone who called Dennis Moore (d – KS)- his office didn’t know his position – but there was Dennis Moore on my TV pushing Crap and Trade big time. The point being is that representatives now lie to their constituents. Any while both my “representatives” voted “no” for the bill – I still don’t believe it had a thing to do with my wants or my calls.

I have stopped smoking as of April when they jacked smokes tax a buck a pack for SCHIP. Garden is doing nicely at son’s house as well as mine. Ammo has been building as available. No big ticket purchases unless absolutely necessary, etc.

I really enjoy the gist of your premise. Because someone may have done bad things in the past it is okay for you to do them when you the opportunity. What happened to having integrity and doing the right thing? What happened to debate, discussion, and the pursuit of the truth?
What the h@@@ does it matter what Republicans may have done? If they did it no one agrees with it either. It is okay to vote on a measure that no one has read, no real debate was allowed, and after VOLUMES of any dissenting information including reports within the EPA was supressed.
Two months ago I asked you eight relevant questions regarding global warming that you refused, as you always do, to answer. Intellectual cowardice. You will not answer them, because the scientific data totally refutes the entire premise of Global Warming. That theory was so shot full of holes liberals had to rename it Climate Change. On July 4, I plan on getting up early for my annual JP Blecksmith Foundation 5k run in San Marino (just a few blocks down the street from me) and then head out to the Tea Party rally at Memorial Park in Pasadena. Should be a good day.

Here’s a question that’s been bothering me since TSCOTUS determined co2 is a pollutant..now I agree there are at least 4 highly educated individuals on the court, so which one of those four was it that has an extensive background in meteorology/physics so as to make the determination co2 is a pollutant? Once again scientific findings are based on the consensus of 9 individuals educated in completely different area of academics.

Congress and the president feel that they now have total power to do anything they want. Many republicans want to survive so they get on the bandwagon too. They won’t stop until all liberty is gone and taxes have us all bent over. They want a complete socialist nation where they (the elite) rule, and are exempt from any inconveniences. Shades of the USSR. Prepare for the breadlines. Even elections will be like Iran…bought and paid for. People need to put their music and cellphones away and get involved. Otherwise, we’ll lose it all.
I remember a lot of naysayers commenting about the “porkulus protest” in Seattle organized by Liberty Belle on February 16th as being a waste of time and how it wouldn’t even be noticed.
They were wrong than, and they are wrong now!
The Independence day tallies for tea party events are expected to exceed the April 15th totals.
The tea parties number in the 100′s of thousands now, are organized and are turning the tide!
There are hundreds of events planned from now through the 4th of July and well beyond!

Although I fully support and plan to participate in the Tea Party on the 4th of July weekend I seriously doubt it will have any impact. The Obamamedia will ignore use just as our political overlords continue to do. We continue to stockpile food, water, survival gear, and ammunition for the coming hard times while clinging to our bibles and guns. Stay safe folks!
Maybe we’re focusing in the wrong direction. House, Senate, and President are focused on power, that’s their payoff. I’m afraid that they are just looking for an excuse to implement marshall law (such as swine flu epidemic, an attack, who knows) and then the next election will be worth squat. There won’t BE a next election because of the “emergency.” I can’t think of any other reason why they so blatantly ignore the voters.
The media, however, they are the “interpreters” for the government. Look at how they did Bush compared to Obama. That is where the voters who are responsible for voting these people in get their marching orders, from the media. The ONLY reason OIbama and Congress are able to get away with an iota of what they get away with is because of the interpreters–the media.
Where congress and Obama’s currency is power, the media’s is MONEY. Find a way to reward them for honest reporting and punish them for dishonest reporting with money and they’ll give up their allegiance to the power people in a heart beat. And all the people who depend on them for how to think will come around.

Just got back from the Tea Party in Olympia, WA! AWESOME!!! We had actually already planned our Tea Party for today, so it worked out quite nicely! We had “Thomas Paine,” (Bill Basso) from the You Tube hits as our keynote speaker. He was brilliant!
The target is NOT the Obaminites-it is the conservative base-let them know all is NOT lost. No we will not receive much media attention–so we spread the word person to person and on the web.
As far as stockpiling–most excellent idea. Know your hand loading? I know how, and do, reload some without a press–if any on this blog have a link post it. I would like to see more people know how. When the hoplophobes come for the guns they just might take the presses. Handtapping is a great backup.
That’s an excellent idea. I’ve been wanting to learn how to do my own reloads since I’m having such a devil of a time finding ammo these days.

Agreed, little story I was a participant in today that supports what you said.
A woman today was looking for an a apartment for her friend. Management take the weekend off here, they are incompetent in other ways, but on with my story.
We started talking about the rent cost and so forth and I naturally couldn’t pass up chance to feel one out on their political views. Mentioned the crap and tax bill passed yesterday, she had no idea what I was talking about. I went on for a few about the damage the dems and Odumbo are doing to the country. I said these libs are ruining this country, she said her and her hubby felt the same…but she had just said she knew nothing of the scam bill passed. Unless she was bs’n me,I have to assume there are millions in the same position as her and her hubby. They have no idea what’s going on. I think that’s a result of that old saying”two things you don’t talk about with strangers is religion and politics”…that and their too busy watching American Idol or Dancing with the Stars and the soup channels for their news. Too many people are unaware of what’s happening to their country.
Tea Parties and person to person are two great ways to help conservative word get out to people in the dark and push the conservative cause.

A lot of people don’t know a thing about cap and trade. I myself didn’t understand what it was until a couple months ago. Friday, I was talking to my sister who is middle of the road on everything, and I was upset about the bill. She asked what it was. I started to “rant” a bit and she cut me off, saying she didn’t realize how “radical” I had become. It was very eye-opening. I AM radical!! Wow. I prefer to call it passionate about my beliefs. She is one of those “undecideds” you see in polls and wonder how ANYONE can be sitting on the fence about the future of our country! Oh, and she insists she is “informed” about what is going on. Sad. So, I have a milquetoast sister, a moonbat leftie brother and a Rush Limbaugh conservative (like me) brother who is the spitting image of el Rushbo himself! Two of us out of four. And we were all raised by the same parents in the same household. It is not upbringing so much as a mental issue, like autism or something.
