Franken-fied: Make way for (another) clown; Update: Coleman statement added

It’s official. The Senate gets another buffoon. Don’t worry, Al. Bozo the VP Joe Biden’s shoes won’t be that hard for you to fill:
It is U.S. Sen. Al Franken.
The Minnesota Supreme Court today decided that Franken, a Democrat, won the highest number of votes in last year’s U.S. Senate race and deserves a signed election certificate.
The court said that Republican Norm Coleman didn’t prove that a lower court made mistakes requiring a rehearing of the case. Coleman had asked the court to order thousands of rejected absentee ballots counted. He had hoped the counting would allow him to overcome Franken’s 312-vote lead.
The court’s decision brings to an end the seven-month state fight over the Minnesota Senate race. Franken has had a lead since January and a trial court decided in April that he won the highest number of legally cast votes.
Showtime!

Update:
A STATEMENT FROM SENATOR NORM COLEMAN
ST. PAUL – Senator Norm Coleman today made the following statement at his home in St. Paul:
“Ours is a government of laws, not men and women. The Supreme Court of Minnesota has spoken and I respect its decision and will abide by the result. It’s time for Minnesota to come together under the leaders it has chosen and move forward. I join all Minnesotans in congratulating our newest United States Senator – Al Franken.
“Just a few last words about my legal challenge. Sure, I wanted to win. Not just for myself but for my wonderful supporters and the important values I have always fought for. I also thought it was important to stand up for enfranchising thousands of Minnesotans whose votes weren’t counted like the others were. After all, issues and politicians come and go, but voting is fundamental.
“It is the essence of democracy so I knew we needed to do everything we could to get it right.
“I am forever grateful and humbled by the people of Minnesota who have given me the honor to represent them – and even more grateful for their wisdom, courage, patience and understanding over these past several months.
“The path that I take in the future is not nearly as important today as the path that we must now — all travel on together — to strengthen our state and our nation.
“I have never believed that my service is irreplaceable. We have reached the point where further litigation damages the unity of our state, which is also fundamental. In these tough times, we all need to focus on the future. And the future today is we have a new United States Senator.
“I congratulate Al Franken and his victory in this election. He now enjoys the advantage that our Congressional Delegation has over the other 525 people on Capitol Hill: he represents Minnesota.
“I know the great ideas, the amazing work ethic and the historic ability to come together to get things done in this state will help him greatly, as it has me.
“Speaking of which, I think we all should take a moment to thank Amy Klobuchar and her staff. They have done a great job of carrying the burden of two Senators these last six months. She is an extraordinary public servant.
“I don’t reach this point with any big regrets. I ran the campaign I wanted. I conducted the legal challenge I wanted. And I have always believed you do the best you can and leave the results up to a higher authority. I’m at peace with that. As to my future plans, that’s a subject for another day.
“We live in a great country and a great state. We can all have confidence that by some path we don’t yet know – one which we can all come together to lay out – we will arrive at the better future we all seek.
“Thank you and may God bless Minnesota and America.”

At least you are good enough to admit we will be suffering under abominable “leadership.”
It is also nice (in a gallows humor way) that there is another state as stupid as Massachusetts.
Al Franken is as close to bottom as you can get without actually being in hell. One of the most disgusting, despicable sub humans on the planet and he has to be from my state. I am literally gagging on this one.
Really? As bad as Idi Amin, Bin Laden, Charles Manson, Michael Flatley, The Joker, Dennis Rader and lgm?
Come now. Let us not give in to hyperbole.
In my line of business I meet many people from Minnesota. I won’t be able to help but think how stupid most voters are from that state. It can be turned around against me as well, being an Oregonian but not quite to the extent as Minnesotans. This last weekend I had the opportunity to meet three teachers from California. They were so upset about having to take Spanish lessons and having the Government borrow from their retirement accounts and the terrible economy and on and on. When I told them that the teacher unions were a huge reason why all of these things were happening, they could not accept it. No no, the teachers unions are good! they said. The discussion ended with me trying to convince them that the Pols the unions endorse with their heavy handed techniques and the teachers vote for in lock step are the very pols responsible for the mess. Come back, come back, I’m not finished, I exclaimed as they ran away clenching their hands to their ears. I guess no state has total ownership of fools and idiots that pull the lever in the voting booth. Some have more than others though.
So you concede Franken had the most votes? Interesting. But in any case, I am sure happyscrapper would be happy to point out that Franken won a plurality, not a majority, of the votes.
When will Minnesotans elect Mickey Mouse?
Heck, they’ve tried just about everyone else.
He had the most votes recounted, yes.
You know, even Coleman never alleged fraud, as the decision today made a point to mention.
I mean come on…its not like something crazy like 6,000 votes being switched due to a “computer glitch” occurred, right? Cause that would be totally suspicious.
Sorry for the broken link.
Try this.
Inconsistancies in which districts were recounted and errors. Check in with Ed Morrissey for all that. Anyway ya got your clown chap. Let us know how it works out.
Believe me, I am well informed of the “arguments” for fraud. Like the so- called “found” votes that coincidentally match up with the independently recorded voter registrars (i.e. sign in sheets). If you follow some of the links to the right, i am sure you can find some posts that go into greater detail from me.
The only thing Coleman had was some argument of disparate treatment of absentee ballots county to county. Which he had zero problem with until he came out the loser under that scheme.
He didn’t argue fraud because there was zero evidence of any.
Let’s just appoint an
Ayatollah to decide the elections beforehand. Eliminates all this confusion.
And you were not hiking the Appalachian trail. I smell scandal.
The jealousy of the rhythmically challenged always displays itself.
Care to spew a long diatribe about the evils of Zamfir, master of the pan flute?
Okay. That was hilarious. Someone was a child of the 80s.
In 1980, the Minneapolis Tribune sponsored a Minnesota slogan contest. The winner was “come fall in love with a loon”. I guess they decided to make it official.
While my Wife may have to go to business conventions in Minneapolis every other year or so, it will be several years before my family spends another vacation in Minnesota.
They must be smokin’ some good stuff there in MN! Al Franken? If this is supposed to be a joke I am not laughing. What next?
chapoutier said:
Still does not explain why there were more voters than registered in the state.
2008′ is by far the winner of Dumba$$ Voter Award.
Huh? who has made this claim?
Look here.
78.5% of eligible voters. Not over 100%. Now that doesn’t include registered voters, but MN has same day registration, and as you can see, the level of participation in this highly publicized election (both Senate and Presidential) is only slightly higher than the turnout for 2004.
If you take registered voters, it is about 91% turnout. Still way less than 100.1%
In fact, turnout was actually LOWER than what they were expecting.
Thank you.
Coleman concedes what he previously thought was a result that created “disenfranchisement.” What, he changed his mind and now it’s not voter disenfranchisement?
Is this how he stands up for what is right?
I’m so sick of these RINOs playing gentlemen, at our expense. RE John McCain’s entire presidential campaign.
Must be something in the MN air. Electing wrestlers & comedians to represent the state. Aren’t there any semi-normal politicians in MN? Or is that an oxymoron? Weird.
With a massive majority in the house and a filibuster proof senate AND obama in the white house, will the dems FINALLY stop blaming everything on the GOP????
What I recall that was questionable is that in a particular area where Franken didn’t have strong support, he gained votes on Coleman. I’d say at the very least, that is suspicious. I have yet to find the article that mentioned it though.
And in many cases… they seemed to be finding votes for Franken, but little if any for Coleman.
From HotAir:
So I have my doubts as to the legitimacy of the re-worked vote tally.
Re: the time stamp issue. Officials noticed the day of the election that the stamp was wrong, but they could not change it at that point. It was not, as Hot Air said, officials “denying” access to the actual tape. That was the actual tape with the wrong date.
Re:
That is just wrong. Plenty of times Coleman increased his lead during the recount. I recall in the days after the election following the Star Tribune’s running tally as precincts recounted and submitted their results. It was a roller coaster.
Again, all these precincts had, for lack of a better term, sign in sheets. In every instance of “found votes”, such as in the example of the 124/24 votes, the revised vote totals correlated with the independently gathered voter tallies on the sign in.
and this is what coleman gets for his pansy ass libtard votes. He was a Rino in true form
Most excellent point. How does Obama defend this?
He doesn’t have to. He is God.
By the way, it just hit me…Norm Coleman has lost elections to both Al F’ing Franken AND Jesse Ventura. Now THAT is what you call a LOSER!
Minnesota has a system of “same day registration,” where you can show up, register, and vote on the spot. All you need is a school ID or even a utility bill or rental receipt, which are easy to fake (not that anyone will be checking). It’s a system ripe for abuse. It’s only too easy for out-of-state college students or a couple busloads of ACORN voters from Chicago to be parachuted into marginal precincts to up the vote for the Demonrats.
HOW, in the name of all that is sane, did we come to this level of stupidity? If we lose the integrity of our elections, we lose everything! Apparently, we have all been sitting around with our heads in the sand (or elsewhere), just letting it all happen.
We got here because Demonrats wanted to make voting easier, in full knowledge that when you make voting easier, you make vote fraud easier. (Don’t believe for a second they didn’t know exactly what they were doing.)
Not true. A student ID is only valid if the school has presented a student housing list to election officials. And a utility bill only comes into play if you can also present one of the following:
* Minnesota Driver’s License
* Minnesota ID Card
* United States Passport
* United States Military ID Card
* Tribal ID Card
* Minnesota University, College, or Technical College ID Card
Presumably this is for MN residents who HAVE VALID ID, but have recently moved to a new address.
Correction to above. The ID may be expired, but point being that you can’t just hand over a utility bill and stroll over to the voting booth.
Yeah, chap like anyone is going to go back and check after the election. You know damn well they won’t. And most any form of ID on the list will be quite easy to fake.
You also conveniently leave two other forms of “ID” off your list.
I am sure your helpful local ACORN worker will be happy to provide such a signed oath.
BTW, the Bureau of the Census has given the city of Detroit 81,000 imaginary residents. That’s 81,000 imaginary voters for ACORN to bring to the next election.
And speaking of ACORN…
What the devil is ACORN doing being involved seemingly EVERYWHERE on our tax dollars????
I’m so utterly SICK and TIRED of this left wing front group parading around being involved in any old thing they please with zero repercussions in terms of their funding or status. All the while they are over and over found committing fraud.
Let someone on the Left defend this ridiculous piece of garbage organization if they will.
Socky,
You claimed that same day voting entailed simply having a utility bill or a student ID, both of which were demonstrably false, if you had taken five seconds, as I did to actually look at the requirements.
I made no other argument as to any other provisions of MN’s same day registration requirements. Don’t pretend I did, and then attack the false argument ascribed to me (strawman) to draw attention away from your own incorrect assumptions.
My assertion was that Minnesota makes it easy to commit voter fraud by allowing same day voting registration with non-verifiable ID. This assertion is completely accurate.
Your words exactly follow:
Usually people back up their assertions with factual examples. But hey, I guess making crap up out of thin air is fine, so long as you believe in the message.
chappy sez:
Yes, any Obamabot will tell you that is true.
My sentiment exactly.
They wouldn’t allow us to get our passport that way and just hop on a plane the same day, why should voter registration be any different?
