Cap-and-tax: Inhofe says it’s “dead in the water”
Killing cap-and-tax won’t happen without massive resistance and persistence. Gird your loins and get on the phone next week.
Via the Tulsa World, Sen. Inhofe says it’s “dead in the water” — notwithstanding the arrival of a new clown in town:
U.S. Jim Inhofe, who earlier said a criminal investigation “probably should be’’ conducted into allegations the EPA suppressed a climate change report, conceded Tuesday he is not qualified to make that determination.
“I have no way of knowing,’’ the Oklahoma Republican said.
Inhofe, however, stood by his prediction that a historic climate change bill narrowly approved by the House last week faces certain defeat in the Senate.
“It’s dead in the water,’’ he said.
Inhofe said the much-anticipated conclusion of a Senate race in Minnesota that will give Democrats the 60 votes needed to overcome Republican filibusters would not be enough to save the climate change bill.
“I’ll tell you what a lot of people are thinking, and that is it looks like things are going to be over and we are going to get the clown from Minnesota,’’ he said.
“They are not going to get more than 35 votes.’’
Asked if he was referring to Al Franken as the clown from Minnesota, Inhofe confirmed he was.
“I didn’t mean to be disrespectful. I don’t know the guy, but … for a living he is a clown,’’ the senator said.
“That’s what he does for a living.’’

The Tulsa World is a complete liberal biased rag.
Off-Topic: the Bureau of the Census has given the city of Detroit 81,000 imaginary residents. That’s 81,000 imaginary voters for ACORN to bring to the next election.
just sayin..
No matter they’ve hit the magic 60 vote level, Republicans have got to let them own this bill and any others down the pike. By the time the next election comes up, Dems will be eating their own trying to distance themselves from this mess. Who can they blame, Bush is out of office.
A small ray of sunlight…newly purchased Senator Kay Hagan, democrat-NC (Chuck Schumer bought her seat with ridiculous ads against Dole) is a bit wary of Obama’s plan.
Link
I think the fine senator from OK should shut up. His statements will create a false sense of security that this bill will fail in the senate….and we all know that any bill where its 60-40 can pass….no matter what a piece of crap it may be.
We need EVERYONE calling and emailing their senators NOW and keep it going until we actually DO SEE the bill shotdown.
Inhofe says it like he sees it. Franken is a clown.
Little by little…closing the gap on the so-called margin that Obama “won”, ahem, purchased this election.
By any means necessary.
For lgm…

Now lets compare that to the hundreds of scientists world wide who believe the global warming hoax.

I agree!
It’s not dead until the bill has been staked-through-the-heart, shot in the face, incinerated, flash frozen, encased in cement, and thrown into the ocean.
I wouldn’t be so sure. The Dems haven’t kneecapped anybody yet. There’s plenty of time to take hostages, shoot a couple of examples, pass along a few death threats, etc.
Call the guys who took care of Jimmy Hoffa?
The way I look at it…we start out with 38 votes…because you sure the Hell can’t count on those two dingbats from Maine. So, at the least…we probably need 13 Dems to vote against this bill. (since Biden would be the tiebreaker if it was 50-50).
13 Dems is a lot…especially with all the deals that are going to be cut.
So let’s not rest easy…yet.
I wish I shared his confidence but I rather doubt it. I will keep my fingers crossed, hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
Didn’t they do that to Megatron in the first Transformers movie? Like any really bad liberal idea, he came back in the sequel.
Here’s my “watch-list” of really bad liberal ideas which haven’t died yet:
1. Fairness Doctrine
2. Census inaccuracies
3. Gun rights legislation
4. Cap and Trade energy restrictions
5. Universal Health plans
6. government ownership of business
7. negotiations with Islamofascist countries
8. More Middle Class taxes
9. More taxes in general, like a national VAT
10. Amnesty for illegal aliens
Kudos to Inhofe for calling that fool Franken what he is… a clown.
It’s irrelevant that the democrats now have a 60 vote super majority.
With the stinking RINO’S in the Senate, they will never need it anyway.
Those clueless hags from Maine and their treachery on the stimulus passage are proof positive.
So which ones might be up for reelection next year? Which ones come from states that rely on manufacturing and/or cheap energy for their economy (not to mention the welfare of the people)?
As Michelle says, MELT THE PHONES.
Send in the clown! And speaking of silver-tongued orators, Obama’s just told Americans they need to stop “clinging” to the current health system:
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D995Q61O1&show_article=1
That’s a great phrase, “clinging to,” isn’t it? Seems to me he’s used it before, too. Hmmm…
They did it with HilaryCare… The Sequel is ObamaCare
Let me add one that you can bet we’ll see…
- 3rd term for Obama.
His (Inhofe) first premise is wrong on its face – Franken is NOT a clown. Clowns are funny. Franken is not funny and never has been. He’s not even a “former” clown, comedian, whatever you chose to call him – he’s a “never was”.
To call Franklen a clown is overstating his ability, being a clown is actually a lot harder than being a comedian. Especially a failed comedian.
LMAO… well he is a wanna be clown! Just saying! He’ll fit in with the rest of ‘em.
Disagree. Clowns are not funny. Clowns are supposed to be funny. Clowns think they’re funny. But more often than not, clowns are just creepy guys wearing too much make-up. They behave stupidly, their act consists of incompetently screwing up even the simplest task, they perform dumb tricks to distract the audience, and they think its amusing to cram people into tiny cars.
Clowns are a great metaphor for the modern Democrat party.
Good man, that Inhofe.
Makes me want to move back to Oklahoma.
Hawaii senators make Kennedy look like John Wayne.

Anyone who thinks that C(R)AP AND TAX is DOA in the new U.S.S.A. Senate is smoking Hopey / Changey crack.
***
President Obama (PBUH) and our fine liberal Senators (including the two lady RINO’s from Maine) will sell us out and help “water down” the bill when the “earmarks” (aka bribes) to their minions and their districts are big enough.
***
As far as the CLOWN PRINCE Al Franken–he is more like the evil Joker in the Batman movies–or like Pancho Villa was when he came into town and robbed everyone for his “cause”.
***
I don’t think even the Rasputin treatment is enough to kill this POS environmental “improvement” bill. He was poisoned, stabbed, shot with a .44 a number of times, beaten, drowned, and stuffed under the ice of the Neva River in Moscow. He had more lives than a cat or a vampire!

Any liberal / democratic / socialist / marxist / communist / RINO Senator should be TEA PARTIED any time the chance occurs. When they leave the Capitol Building, the Senate Office Building, the airports, their public appearances, etc. Some homemade signs and protesters should greet them daily.

From his lips to God’s ears…
But it will just come back in some other incarnation — just like the illegal alien legislation, etc.
In 1974, at the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, I raised my right hand and pledged to defend my country from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
I wonder if Obama is going to have “and domestic” removed from that oath for his and Congress’ own protection?
Double Posted but not OT:
The US Senate and its RINOs. I can handle an occasional vote of concience against the caucus, but some of the RINOs are clearly Democrats bent on sabotage.
Olympia Snowe is registered as a Republican because her dead husband, whose Maine state senate seat she inherited before running for the US Senate, was a Republican.
Lincoln Chaffee was a registered Republican because his father, the former senator, was Republican. Chaffee switched affiliations as soon as he lost his Senate seat, and admitted he had been a Democrat for years, but thought he could “alter” the Republican agenda by his committee positions when the Republicans were the majority party in the Senate.
I wish the GOP leadership would discipline RINOs, and expel obvious Democrat plants, like Snowe and Collins, the way the Dems brook no dissent in their party.
Joe Lieberman would be out of the Dem caucus right now except Specter hadn’t flipped yet and Franken hadn’t yet stolen the seat Coleman won, and Reid thought they might need him to break the filibuster, all for the terrible crime of supporting a US victory in Iraq.
Sens. Casey (D) and SpecterDetector (ex-RINO) never listen to me, but I’ll give it another shot anyway. I’m stuck with SpecterDetector until 2010 at least.
John Wayne Gacy was a clown.
Clown is an excellent description for Franken.
Let Franken be a lesson.
I am quite sympathetic to people who find the Republicans run by a Northeastern squish, Michael Steele, and full of losers like Voinovich and the Maine Babes, hard to vote for. McCain was hard to vote for.
But people voting third party in Minnesota is how the election became close enough for Franken and his lawyers to steal an election Coleman had clearly won.
Democrats will steal any close election. Franken, Gregoire, the special election to fill the NY House seat.
Coleman had some squish tendencies, but he was not a RINO. I can think now, with the retirement of Voinovich, of only two RINOs who are truly as bad as any Democrat, Snowe and Collins.
If the Demonrats were a principled, loyal and patriotic party, teaching the GOP a lesson and voting Third Party is one thing.
But the Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party is not going to win any Senate races, and certainly not the White House, in 2012.
Barack Obama is that bad.
BTW, speaking of Michael Steele being a squish- Iowa and New Hampshire currently start the primary voting, and have an open caucus/primary.
With Obama having probably 90% of the Black vote locked up, he is unlikely to face a real challenge in 2012. That means Rahm Emmanuel and George Staphylcoccus and James Carville and David Axelrod will have a conference call, and decide who will be our McCain-esque disaster candidate in 2012, and KoS and DU will direct their acolytes to vote for the least electable.
I heard Hugh Hewitt speculate on Ron Paul. I personally think it might be Olympia Snowe herself. I am convinced she is a Democrat who won’t caucus where she belongs, because, like Lincoln Chaffee, she can damage the Republican cause more by claiming to be a Republican. She is next door to New Hampshire.
If she announces an exploratory committee, know that she is backed by Obama himself.
You forgot the garlic! You need wreaths of garlic! … And silver bullets! You must use silver bullets! … What else?
Oh God, we’re going to forget something, I just know it! (sob!)
This would be good news if the Republicans didn’t have their own “Cap and Tax Lite” version buried away somewhere.

After the Franken election you folks still thinking 2010 0r 2012 is gonna make a difference. We have no rights anymore one the election/voting laws have been trampled..Just look at the NBPs in Phillie that Obama let loose. We have no chance but rebellion.
Now, he does it for a hobby as well.
He was funny in the late 70s, and for some brief moments in the 80s, such as the “Assimilated Jews Christmas Songbook” bit on SNL. (”Joy to the world, our Lord has not yet come, but we knowwww … he’s onnnn… his waaaay!!”)
But that was a generation ago. Now he’s joined the ranks of the “cranky, old, and formerly-funny.” (Robin Williams has been there for some time.)
One term – The Never Ending Story – Elections? We don’t need no stinking elections! The consensus is in! We Won! The time for debate on this issue has passed. Yes I can!
Any of that sound familiar?
Sadly yes.

To be fair – if these are dead voters, it’s right in line with their murder rate…
You’re gonna want to remove the head so it doesn’t succumb to the Icelandic Zombie Flu that’s going around. Pretty nasty from what I hear.
Jeddite,
Don’t forget to use a wooden stake. Nothing metal or plastic. A hardwood like oak would work best….
when is enough, enough?
I certainly hope Imhofe’s “dead in the water” isn’t a kiss of death on his prognostication.
LOL… though it’s hard to laugh at anything related to O-Dopey.
No way we even want a second term. In fact, I’d like to see him and Rahm Emanuel perp-walked out of the White House before this term emds.
Encase it in carbonite & hand it over to Boba Fett.
To paraphrase Clint Eastwood in Pale Rider and to speak from the experience of having grown up in and around the timber industry … “There’s nothing like a good piece of hickory!”
Yeah but at the rate they are creating crises there may not be any more elections or Marshal Law will be declared … thus making certain that his “validity” as the “president” is assured without the need for those pesky and costly elections. Do you have any idea how much fancy beef and bombs he could have bought with the money he spent on that last one?
Okay, maybe it was Bill Ayers that wanted to do the bombs but from what I have seen so far from this administration … I do tend to wonder.
Even that won’t work if were actually possible. It’s merely the product. You’ve got to get rid of the producers of such bills.
Bills such as this are reincarnated time and time again when defeated. They will never die as long as progressives can bring them back time and again.
Who was it that said “We ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”? The year is only half over and more crises are to come to overwhelm us before this year ends, Im sure.

Sen. Inhofe based his remark on the fact that some of the newer Senate Dems come from traditionally conservative states. They were elected based on an unpopular war and an economic downturn created in good part by Wall Street chicanery. They try to pass themselves off as moderate conservatives or moderates, and unless they have been corrupted by their taste of power, they are aware that the pendulum can swing to the right again if the administration screws up. So, yes, public pressure must be kept up to remind our lawmakers that their political careers are just as mortal as their natural lives.
as is the Oklahoman….than you Mr. Inhofe for taking a stand….
thanthank…oopsYes, the Oklahoman has definitely gone to the left since old man Gaylord passed away. I hope Senator Inhofe is right, he has led the good fight against the eco-wacko nuts for many years.
Thanks and God bless you, Senator Inhofe!

And there are already Facebook ads being targeted to NC users, asking them to contact Hagan and tell her to support Obama’s public plan.
And the first Republican Senator that talks about ammending the bill needs to be drawn and quartered, frog marched right out of his/her DC office, put out to pasture. At that point, anything redeemable in the GOP will be dead.
I like Inhofe for saying what he thinks and seeming to be one of the few senators we have with real integrity. I hope he is right about the count, but I remember McCain and others being onboard with the whole Global Warming farce. I can see them getting seventy votes if it were not for the public outcry, which must be maintained!
I hope the good Senator is right. I somehow think that McCain, Grahamnesty and the Maine sisters will come to the rescue.
