Find an Independence Day Tea Party

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 2, 2009 01:16 PM

If you’re looking to celebrate Independence Day with other freedom-loving, limited-government activists, go to Tea Party Patriots for a list of more than 600 Tea Parties scheduled this weekend and beyond.

I will be at the Dallas Tea Party at Southfork Ranch on Saturday for a huge shindig. More info here.

My family and I will be at the Temecula, CA party at the Duck Pond, part of Mary Bono Mack’s district. That woman needs to lose her seat in Congress; she voted for Porkulus, the AIG bonus tax penalty and now for crap & tax.

With two democratic senators and RINOs for governor & congressman, I have no representation in our government. The good news is that as I get older, time goes by faster, so I figure 2010 will be here in about six weeks.

ALSO: speeches from various and sundry interested parties and a NY talk radio host flown in for the occasion, as well as a Continental Army soldier musket drill and a visit by American Vets motorcyclists. Unfortunately, I can’t attend a tea party this time around, between schedule and transportation problems. (I hold some hope of having them resolved by the 2010 campaign season. I hope.)

I have a suggestion for future tea parties, though, at least those in blue, suburban college-laden, or urban areas. I notice when food is advertised, it’s meat only. I have a feeling some of those parties probably offer soda and buns as well; may want to say so. It may also be worthwhile for some parties to haul over one extra grill and a small cooler of portabello mushrooms or something cheaper and tasty if it can be found, and advertise it to both people trying to eat healthy and vegetarians.

I would just bring my own food if I could come, in a backpack or something. This issue would not even be a speed bump to me. But I’m ALREADY sold and I ALREADY believe our current crop of politicians is dangerous. I also ALREADY know that conservatives aren’t the ignoramous meanie-heads that many people think they are. You’re trying to recruit people, right? May want to try to be explicitly welcoming to people who may sympathize but have been taught to be scared of you.

Just a suggestion-again, mainly directed to people in blue areas, or anywhere there may be a bigger-than-usual crop of vegetarians or health food people. And only, obviously, to parties offering food in the first place. I know it’s too late for the 4th, and may be more effective as tea parties grow anyway.

Maybe “FAKE PIG-for those who don’t like pork” or “VEGGIE BURGERS-show Obama you can eat healthy without his permission!” “Mundane mushrooms, for conservatives.”
