Fireworks: North Korea test-fires 2 short-range missiles

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 2, 2009 06:35 AM

Good morning, people. How about some missile tests with your coffee:

North Korea test-fired two short-range missiles on Thursday, further stoking tension in the region that was already high due to Pyongyang’s nuclear test and threats to boost its nuclear arsenal in response to U.N. sanctions.

North Korea fired two surface-to-ship missiles off its east coast that flew about 100 km (60 miles) and splashed into the sea, a South Korean defense official said.

A South Korean daily said that the secretive North may also test fire mid-range missiles in a matter of days.

Washington said this week it had tightened its crackdown on firms linked to the North’s lucrative proliferation of missiles, a major source of cash for the destitute state, and has sent the U.S. point man for sanctions to Asia for discussions.

    N. Korea withdrew from the armistice, therefore the same countries that were st war with them, are now technically at war with them again.

That conflict was at the behest of the UN, no doubt prodded by us, so the ball is in their court, of course, with a little prodding by us.

As for the missiles, N. Korea always manages not to miss the ocean. Good for them. But, not dismissing the ‘missile test’, I will be more impressed and concerned if they floated out some boats as targets, and actually hit those.

60-mile anti-ship missiles are not “short-range”. They’re serious threats that can close the port of Incheon (yes, THAT Incheon, made famous by Douglas MacArthur and the port city next to Seoul) from North Korean territory.

One day these koolaid drinkers will understand they are drinking a solution similar to what Jim Jones delivered to his followers in Guyana. Do not forget the blue lips AJ-useful for kissing the ayatollah’s purple butt. His staff is now researching North Korea trying to determine if they are one of the 57 states and thus qualify for bailout money. We must understand that Little Kim is only reacting to America’s arrogance and coal fired plants.

I do hope one of these days Japan wakes up and realizes she is a big, grown up country. That is one nation that SHOULD develope nuclear weapons. They are North Asia’s only possible counter weight to China and North Korea. Obama would throw them under the bus in a heartbeat.

American Jews will rue the day they pulled the lever for Obama like democratic lemmings very soon. “Arrogent” and “Unreasonable” Israel will be sacrificed for the “greater good” of having peace with the Islamic world.

There’s no doubt in my mind that not only does Japan know how to put a nuclear together but can “produce” several in very short order once pinned to the wall. It’s just not very internally politic to suggest they can.

These words from Peter Brookes’ latest article describe the missle defense situation pretty well.

The good news is the Bush administration kept its promise to develop and deploy missile defense to protect us against an expanding nuke and missile threat. Otherwise, we’d now be completely vulnerable to North Korean missiles.

The bad news is the new team hit the brakes on developing the Pacific missile-defense system further, halted the development of a European system to protect us against the unfolding Iranian threat and cut the missile-defense budget by 15 percent.

Maybe North Korean menacing will finally convince the administration and Congress that being able to protect yourself with missile defense is really a good thing. It certainly beats the alternative — “Duck and Cover.”

Appropriately, he gives fmr. President Bush credit for the fact that we have a missile defense system. And you can infer that if the existence of our missile defense systems were up to Obama, we would likely not have developed it at all.
