STUNNER: A Palin announcement: Resigning in weeks; “It hurts to make this choice. But I’m doing what’s best for Alaska”
Scroll down for updates…

Lots of heavy media anticipation over a Sarah Palin announcement expected any minute from Wasilla.
Here’s CBS:
There was no indication as to the topic of the announcement.
CBSNews.com producer Scott Conroy, who covered Palin’s vice presidential campaign last year, said it is rare that Palin sends a press release out nationally.
Feel free to speculate.
Allahpundit has a developing round-up; multiple sources reporting that Palin will say she’s not going to run for governor again in 2010.
Here comes 2012?
***
A contrary take: FNC’s Chris Wallace take the announcement as a sign that Palin is not interested in pursuing national politics.
Palin supporters take cable news anchors to task for puzzling over announcement on “slow holiday news day” and missing Independence Day timing.
Latest from BNO on Twitter: Palin resigning in weeks????
From KTUU TV in Alaska:
Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her Wasilla home Friday morning.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor’s Picnic at the end of the month, Palin said.
There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
Palin made the announcement flanked by Parnell and most, if not all, of her cabinet.
***
CNN showing the press conference video:
Palin: “I love my job. I love Alaska. It hurts to make this choice. But I’m doing what’s best for Alaska.” Tears in her eyes.
Says she will be able “to effect change from the outside.” America needs protectors of individual rights now more than ever. Promises to always be there for Alaska. Wants to work not just for Alaska, for the rest of the country. Taking a fight for Alaska in a new direction. Quotes MacArthur: “We are not retreating, just advancing in a different direction.”
Lt Gov. Sean Parnell says he receives announcement with a “heavy heart.” Thanks Sarah for inspiring so many.
More from press conference: After touting Alaska’s accomplishments, Palin laments “politics of personal destruction.” Notes attacks. $500,000 in legal bills. “Life is about choices. I choose a path of fruitfulness and productivity. Life is too short to compromise time and resources…I will work very hard for others…I will support others…”
***
Chuck Heath, Palin’s brother, on FNC talking about incessant attacks. Very emotional. “It’s weighed on her a long time.” Couldn’t effectively govern when having to defend herself against attacks.
The Anchoress is wondering what’s really going on:
Either she or someone in her family is ill, and she wants to keep it private and not subject it to the vulgarity of the Palin-hating beasts in the press, who savaged her last year, or…she and Todd are on the rocks, and she doesn’t want to subject her children and her marriage to the same vulgarity.
Can’t say I blame her in either case. And I hope I’m wrong on both counts.
But nothing else makes sense, does it?

zygzyyg (or however your stupid name is spelled):
Those “court cases” are publicly disclosed. I looked them up myself on the net.
Don’t you know how?
Hello everyone
People please, pay attention, find your seats, get ready for Act II :
SARAH UNLEASHED
Pop the popcorn, fill the soda glass and watch carefully. It is about to get ‘very interesting’
Have a great day all
I think the Governor laid out her plans clearly in her speech today…I take her at her word, and I really don’t understand why so many are having trouble with it. The media? They’re perturbed by not having a “scoop” to report. She did something unknown in politics…taking an action without first checking with the news corps, the GOP cement feet, or the latest national poll.
One thing is clear, the haters are still hating, the detractors are still detracting, and the doubters are still doubting! None of us know what the future has in store, and in any event, it could all change with a bright flash of light in the East, or another asinine act in the West.
I look forward to her future, and ours, as the next election cycle approaches. Perhaps the naysayers will fade away as their predictions of her failure diminish.
What a wonderful thing it has become to watch, as she yanks the chain of the MSM, and directs what “news” they cover, as “OUR” Independence Day weekend unfolds! I still believe it was a brilliant move!
I believe Gov. Palin is stepping up not down.
I trust her and believe whatever her decisions are she has our
country’s best interests at heart.
I believe she knows that our country needs someone like her
at this time in our history.
Exactly, we need to make the job of Rep. and Sen. a 2 month affair unless there is an emergency. Don’t we have enough laws already?
Exactly.
Not really sure which of my posts you are referring to, but in my earliest post I said Gov Palin owes her supporters a coherent reason why she is stepping down. In that same post, eventhough MM invited us to speculate, I said speculation is not helpful.
Bottomline, is is not about me, it is about Gov Palin. Or, don’t you get it?
I thought the same thing. She is still to work within the GOP as her main platform. That is suicidal. All she will find in the GOP is continued treachery and condescension.
Palin needs to hit the hustings as a conservative and build on her large following by selling her own message and finding her voice along the way. Like Reagan, she might then find herself in the position to impose herself onto the GOP or run as a very strong independent.
Imposing themselves onto the party is how game-changing presidents like Reagan, BJ Clinton and Obama did it. Palin can do it too if she can stop trying to please the the GOP machine. We’ve had too many lame “good Republicans” already.
In any case, Palin is now under the gun to follow up with something very soon or the entire establishment may succeed in painting her as a quitter and loser.
She said she was going to figrt for America from outside the governor’s office. I think she is going to lead a true “million man” march on Washington on 9/12. She cannot do that while governor.
figrt = fight
Simply try cutting and pasting, and you will not have to concern yourself with how I spell my name. Don’t you know how to cut and paste?
Of course, the cases are publicly disclosed. That is our system of Government. Usually, when court cases are mentioned a citation is mentioned, who vs who, or something. Gov Palin had the opportunity to do so and she did not.
Gov Palin missed an opportunity.
Don’t complain about what the media is doing, or not doing, when you can, and have the platform to make the wider public aware of an issue. Good greif, do so.
Who doesn’t know about the Letterman imbroglio? Why? Because, Gove Palin made it a big deal. If she wants the media to report on something, it is incumbent upon her to talk about it, and since the media is interested in her, they will report about the cases.
Yep. But, did you look them up before, or after, Gov Palin mentioned them?
Beleive it or not, her mentioning the cases make them more relevant and interesting. And, if you looked them up before she mentioned them, have you looked up the thousand of other decisions from every other court? SCOTUS? Appeals? Circuit? Yeah, go ahead make me believe that.
I don’t believe that. There are many of us out here that can fix Washington, we just need a foothold.
It is as simple as following the Constitution as written, not trying to interpret it.
Sarah Palin may just be the catalyst we need to bring America back from the brink, and reestablish “the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
The words of the pledge are as timeless as ever. But some in Washington have displaced OUR liberty in their quest for money and power. Instead of unity, they sow chaos through dissension, division, and dishonesty. They must be replaced.
right_on you raise a good point ‘who is going to on the front page of almost every newspaper in America on July the 4th
Good point
So Planned “Parenthood” and all the other abortion enthusiasts such as yourself exist only to “help” women that became mother as a result of failed abstinence? Full blown (no pun intended) sex education results in no unplanned pregnancies?
Which once again brings up the point that if she is such a drag on conservatives, why are you trying to “help” us? The old adage about getting out of the way of someone digging their own hole applies here.
No, there is something more. I can’t believe for a second, Edelweiss, that you would care one iota if the Republicans crashed and burned. Let me guess: reverse psychology? Don’t make me laugh.
No, the truth is that liberals have a visceral fear of her, for whatever reason, and her latest move has you frightened.
Ah yes, the new feminism: if you are “punished” with a baby, stay home and take care of her/him.
What you say has merit.
Though, she still could have talked about issues that concerned her, not complained about the media, pushed her agenda, and remained Governor.
I am fairly confident the national media would have gone to Alaska to hear Gov Palin deliver a speach, on just about anything. Dimes to donuts, the media will cover her in pivaste life, too.
@rightisright
I stand corrected and sincerely apologize.
I think we will know what is actually going on within the next 6 months…
I think she is going to spend time proving the DC Beltway idiots that she is smarter than them!!!
All this talk about her spending time “learning” all the Politic stuff cause THEY say she is “NOT READY” is BULL!!!
Hell the idiot in the White House now needs to bone up on the job. She is still more intelligent than him. BUT she is a woman… Obama is a joke!!
Keep on Sarah no matter what I will support you!!!
I listened to her entire speech. She is freeing herself up to maneuver.
She used the anaolgy of a point guard passing the ball for the good of the team. Good basketball players also know how to move without the ball to position themselves to take a shot.
I’m willing to be cold hard cash there’s more to this. Palin may be a functional moron, but she’s a tough cookie, and there isn’t an ice cube’s chance in hell she’d cave like this without something huge to drive it…
Hey, who did supply all the materials for the Palin house that Todd and “some buddies” just “threw together” on the weekends? And who did get that $10+ million dollar Wasilla sports center contract? And who was the mayor of Wasilla that awarded that contract?
Oh, I know – you don’t believe it, you won’t believe it. I’m a liar, I’m a libtard, I voted for Obama (OK, that part at least is true…). But I stand by the first sentence in my post – anyone want to take me up on it, if you’re so sure I’m wrong?
zygzyg:
You’re not worth the cut and paste.
And I looked them up months ago.
From Gov Palin’s speach –
Huh? Trig was able to understand and respond to the question?
It is minor thing, but she should have said ‘my family’, and not ‘my children’. Acknowledging five votes would make more sense, which would have meant the four children and husband, who were capable of understanding the question. I am fairly confident Trig was silent on the subject.
Again, this is a minor thing, albeit extremely revealing.
However, if she did NOT rule out running for President in 2012, then her resignation could be a master stroke. It is as though she is playing a game that I played well in elementary school against real, hateful adversaries…that is “Snap the Whip” wherein you make your opponents believe one thing and commit your efforts to fooling them until you decide to change things on them to their surprise and your advantage.
(For you Trekkies out there…think of the gambit used by Capt. Kirk in “The Corbomite Maneuver” ’60s episode to have the Enterprise escape from the smaller vessel assigned to drag the Enterprise back to the First Federation territory…)
The Dems clear strategy with what is known so far is to throw every possible and unjustified ethics complaint (the maJority lodged AFTER McCain picked her as VP running mate) until she has so much word=of-mouth baggage that our invetigative MSM reporters, who never really investigate anything anyway, will just say “Oh but Governor Palin what about this or that…” and nickel and dime her to death in a way they never did about Obama.
Resigning now gives her the chance, if that is what she really wants, to travel the country line up donations for a 2012 Presidential run, do the necessary legwork to put together an excellent brain trust of reliable and talented advisors, and shut off the absolutely wild Alaska ethics complaint system permanently, which she needs one way or another to increase her political viability. She , unlike any other politician than BO, has a loyal following that can be grown over time.
We will see.
LOL.
Then why bother even commenting on my post.
And, how could you have looked them ‘months ago’, when the decisions were just handed down, according to Gov Palin? Moreover, you do know that the SCOTUS releases their opinions at the end of each term?
Just to help you out, from Gov Palin’s speach –
“Another accomplishment – our Law Department protected states’ rights – TWO huge U.S. Supreme Court reversals came down against that liberal Ninth Circuit, deciding in OUR state’s favor over the last two weeks. We’re protectors of our Constitution – federalists protect states’ rights as mandated in 10th amendment.”
Please stop. You are embarrassing yourself.
zygzyg:
Ooops, I thought you were referring to the ethics complaints that she was cleared of.
My bad.
But you’re still a troll.
Au contraire, SilverCat. I recognized you for a fellow ideological airhead the moment I read your first post. But why the venom against Sarah Palin? She is bowing out of politics. Shouldn’t you be happy now? Instead, you want to kick her while she’s down. You must be one of those “compassionate” liberals I’m always hearing about.
Your non-stop personal attacks don’t make sense if you really think Palin is just a “vacuous uneducated airhead.” They sound more like a desperate attempt to drive a stake through her heart, as if you fear her political career might come roaring back to life if you don’t keep up the endless personal attacks. It says more about you than it ever will about Palin.
So the best example you can come up with to prove Sarah Palin is a “vacuous airhead and lying sociopath” is that she defended her husband from an attack by the lying left-wing. That’s pretty weak. How about a link? Of course it wouldn’t matter to you if your favorite left-wing sites were “distorting almost everything” they write about Palin, as long as it fits your political agenda.
But even if your undocumented charge against Palin were true, didn’t Elizabeth Edwards and Hillary Clinton do the same? Didn’t they lie to protect their husbands? I thought there was an established concensus among democrats that it’s ok to lie about your personal life to protect your family. At least that’s what they said when Bill was impeached. Or is that defense only available to democrats?
In any case, SilverCat, you should be pleased that Sarah has decided to dump politics for her family. It’s what the hypocritical left has wanted her to do from the beginning. Now, I’m going to sign off before I take on sniper fire.
Cry me a river. Were any of the ad hominems fair? No, they never are, but who cares? Leaders don’t make excuses or play the victim card. Since everyone here loves Reagan quotes, I’ll say this: “Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid.” But as it is, I guess now liberals just have to create legal problems for opposing politicians in order to make them quit. I recall reading about this before:
“By psychopolitics our chief goals are effectively carried forward. To produce a maximum of chaos in the culture of the enemy is our first most important step. Our fruits are grown in chaos, distrust, economic depression and scientific turmoil. … With it you can erase our enemies as insects… Use the courts, use the judges, use the Constitution of the country, use its medical societies and its laws to further our ends. … And bring to Earth, through Communism, the greatest peace Man has ever known.” ~Lavrenti Beria
Yep. You would be well served to cut and paste, that way you can keep track and be taken more seriously and have your arguements be more cogent.
OK. Your bad. I acknowledge your apology.
Calling me names is useless, especially without foundation, but you having reading and writing comprehension is monumentally useful.
Ummm, why didn’t you admit that you lied, and are a lying liar, for saying you looked the court cases ‘months ago’?
No matter. It is an established fact that you are a LIAR and it is merely conjecture and projection that you refer to me by any other name than zyzzyg.
I still remain embarrased for you. Please do not say anything more.
Allowing?
Of course, the “strict” liberal puts limitations on their children, and disciplines them at every turn for exercising their wings and putting in practice the moral values taught to them by their “progressive” parents!
Puh-lease!!! All of a sudden the “do as I say, not as I do” mentality tries to draw moral equivalency between conservative values, and progressive values? Not a credible argument!
Unlike most liberal parents, most conservative parents teach their children about risks and responsibilities, trusting that their teachings have a positive outcome. They are not trying to be BFF’s, nor.
Haven’t read the entire thread, but this:
brought me right back to where I’ve been hoping to point people for a long time:
To a platform under which all true conservatives could unite.
Why don’t we start there?

Here is Steyn’s Assessment (from NRO) .
Now, as much as I admire the man (second only and just barely to Thomas Sowell in my book) Mark Steyn has on occasion been wrong, but rarely. I think his assessment of Palin’s decision is pretty much the last word, however. I hope he’s wrong, but I doubt it and I have no interest in waiting for miracles.
****************************************************
For all those unable to see some of the logic behind her actions and the benefit to Alaska….
“She said that she had decided not to run for reelection next year. I suspect she made that decision so that she could campaign full time for president. But regardless of her reason for not running next year, this is the appropriate time to make that announcement. Officeholders accross the nation are making those type announcements at this time in order to give fair notice to people who might want to run for the office. It is the common and accepted practice.
Once she made that announcement she automatically became a lame duck governor and lost much of her influence over the Alaskan legislature and executive departents and Congressional delegation. Instead of doing the customery thing and spending the next year being an innefective and powerless leader she decided that it would be best for the state for her to resign so that she could be replaced by a governor who was not a lame duck.
She will be replaced by a close ally and someone who shares her governing philosophy and a person she will be supporting in the election next year. That is what she meant by doing what is best for Alaska. She can still be an effective voice for Alaskan interests and said she intends to work for the causes she believes in.
Indeed, Papa. The Dems sheer and total horror at the prospect of having to face Palin (sans McCain as deadweight) vividly illustrates her enormous potential electoral influence on everyday, normal hard-working Americans (i.e. everyone but the hard left). You never see the Dems becoming this unhinged over Ron Paul since he’s pretty much unelectable. But they tremble in terror at even the mention of Palin’s name.
zyg:
Being called a “liar” by a troll doesn’t amount to much.
Now you can go crawl back under your rock, loser.
She will win the GOP nomination in 2012.
Regardless of Goldberg, Krauthammer, Allah, Ed and others who shall remain nameless.
I agree with America1st above about the timing. Handing the reins intact and under control to another conservative.
Sarah is still a rock star politically.
Tea party members know she “gets it” while the old guard still hasn’t got a clue!
She is capable of drawing huge crowds and bringing back a conservative enthusiasm missing from the GOP these days.
She is a fund raising goldmine- and smart Republicans will mend their ways or get ignored.
The media is probably having fits, as is Obama and David Frum.
I can’t wait to see the crowds on her speaking tours and watching the press tie themselves into knots all over again!
Her family seems to accept that mom is a politician and a leader and supports her all the way.
I really hope and pray that all ye Palinistas are right about our Sarah gearing up for Battle 2012.
I can’t handle the fact that Sarah resigned and Letterman is still with his gig…WTF?!?
Even if Sarah doesn’t have her sights set on 2012 she can have a huge impact ala Reagan when he was doing the “mashed potatoes circuit”, paving the road for his landslide victory in 1980. She not only can go on the attack against Obama, the Dems and their RINO enablers but also put forth her own vision for America – it’s one that resonates with average folks, due the message and her sincerity.
Plus, she’s already the biggest draw in the party, so it’s not as if she’s starting from scratch.
Just because he loses his time slot?
I haven’t watched him for awhile, but he used to do a thing called “More with Les” – Les being Moonves, now head of CBS. Many leaders are suckers to being brown-nosed, and apparently Les is one of them. He gets a call from Dave, they josh on the air, and now Mr. Moonves has a personal interest in keeping the show on the air. Meanwhile, shareholders get the returns due the guy who isn’t winning his time slot. That reminds me – what network is Couric on – also losing her time slot. Seems like they are doing “Less with Les” to me.
It’s a shame the media informs the public more about Sarah’s daughter than the CIC Oboingo. As a lifelong Alaskan I am sad to lose Sarah, but still grateful to live in one of the greatest of the 57 states in the union!
If this signals her ultimate separation from a Republican party, occupied by many dinosaurs that trashed her, great!!! I don’t support those who trashed her. We need a completely new party that rejects the kind of scummy personalities that currently occupy most of Congress. Jeez, just look at their pictures, look at their videos. Would you buy a car or a house from these people??? Screw Big Government Conservatism, screw business as usual. We don’t live in usual times! Elect people you trust!
That part wasn’t the “Corbomite Maneuever”. It was the bluff Kirk played to get a far greater adversary to back down from trashing you. (i.e. if you zap me the magic metal in my hull will zap back a thousand tumes greater.) It’s a take-off of the MAD defense doctrine.
James Greenidge
Queens NY
I like and admire Gov. Sarah Palin. I trust her and would vote for her.
That is more than I would ever say about anyone else in government today.
She has endured absolute evil thrown at her and her family. That disgusts me beyond words. Because after the kind of hate spewed on the news, Internet/Twitter/etc, I will never look at my fellow Americans on the Left the same again. They are absolutely pathological.
As for Fox and the GOP, I will no longer be following anything they have to say, as well. They also have shown themselves for who and what they are.
I don’t know what Sarah will be doing after this, but I do know one thing: We WILL take back our country from the communists embedded in Washington and Congress.
Off topic..slightly.but Au Contraire!
Do you not remember the part of that episode after Kirk bluffed Balok (of the First federation) into believing that the Enterprise had incorporated within it a non-existent material known as “corbomite”, kept Balok from destroying the Enterprise and everyone aboard?
…That was kirk’s first bluff in that epiusode…the second bluff -or rather deception- came when that once the Enterprise was being dragged back to the alien terrritory, Balok foolishly allowed the Enterprise’s power to come back on independently, which allowed Kirk to pretend helplessness long enough to take Balok off guard (Balok believing he really had control of the situation when he did not) and push the warp and impulse engines to full thrust (when Balok’s ship snuck power downward a bit) and broke free of the smaller ship’s tractor beam…this is the metaphor I am referring to within that episode.
BTW-the MAD doctrine implied the fear of rough equality militarily between the US and the USSR, and thus a war between these antagonists would be futile; there was considerable disparity in power between Kirk’s ship and Balok, thus making the MAD comparison inapplicable to Kirk’s situation, JamesGreenridge.
Why do I employ the metaphor? I admit I am being a bit whimsical with that episode except to say that under the current situation as long as Palin sat up there as Governor of Alaska, she would be pummeled night and day with accusations of this or that allegation so much so it would have the effect of Goebel’s “Big Lie” psychological technique which would not only interfere with her duties as Governor per se, but also hinder her for national aspirations….After all by doing this her detractors could say “look how she always has to defend herself from allegations while governor of Alaska”, and the benefits of her “experience” will be lost-a veritable double whammy with the Dems holding all the cards so that by 2012, no one is listening to her on issues, because having her put out this fake allegation and that fake allegation will destroy her credibility with undecideds…this is what the Dems and establishment Republicans want.
By taking herself out of Alaska as Governor of that state, she not only jettisons that problem, she can focus on the national ambitions she undoubtedly has.
AS for “Experience”…If that was so relevant, then Obama shouldn’t be President, now should he? That issue, especially as this country economically deteriorates for the long-haul under Obama, is now neutralized, this why it is so important for Dems/libs to destroy Palin, and they know it.
Most importantly, Palin now has the flexibility to fight her battles on her terms, if she wants.
Thus I disagree with Send_Me’s assessment of Palin’s resignation as well.
Right now the two-party system is at its lowest respectability that I’ve ever seen in my lifetime -the situation is fluid and the normal expectations of successful political activity ha been changed since 2006 for b oth parties, and since there really isn’t anybody on the right with people connection skills as Palin, serving “x “more years as governor of a state that is essentially a colony of the lower 48 states will not enhance her credentials as a leader, but it would be languishment with no bang for the buck (in 8+ years from now had she stayed on as Governor of Alaska).
This move of her’s has immense risk for her political future, but under the current political/media/internet climate, this is what she would have to do to make a dent on national issues, in my opinion.
America1st and DadinSeattle, I believe, have the right interpretation of these events..We will see.
I’ve been over at Politico this evening and I can’t believe all of the hate coming from the left. For eight years we had to listen to We hate bush. After Obama occupied the White House it’s been It’s Bush’s fault. Now Bush gets a break and all it is over at the Politico is hate towards Palin.
You would expect the Southern Poverty Law Center to add the DNC at the top of their hate group list. But we know that the SPLC is actually a left wing hate group. The liberals seem to be just a bunch of hate mongers. They get a socialist in the White House and they still vent their hate. You would have thought once they crossed the line and attacked Sarah’s 14 year old daughter they would have lighten up on all of the hate. So what is it that liberals fear about Palin ?
Personally, I think there’s something medical going on. I can’t think of any other reason not to ride out the term or at least set a resignation date a few months down the road.
I’d like to see Sarah run for national office, but I sure wouldn’t blame her for just dropping out of politics. They’ve been through more in the last year than any other politician I can think of.
Who knows, maybe she’s going to lead the AIP. Maybe I’ll have to move up there.
But that wouldn’t explain the “Hell, yeah!” response she said she got from one of her family members. It also wouldn’t explain the “it is good” in her tweet Michelle posted above. I am more and more of the opinion that we’re about to see Sarah Palin unleashed, and free to fight the battles she chooses and on her terms.
Michelle,
Do you know of any way to donate to help pay her legal bills? It shouldn’t be a problem now that she will be out of office. I’d like to send the amount that Obama asked me for to help organizers go door to door pushing his agenda. Monopoly money for Obama.
The only way what Gov. Palin has done now will make sense and give us some understanding is when we know what she does next. Until then this is all speculation.
Sarah-
Go Galt! Will Alaska be the Gulch? There’s at least 4 million of us ready to move.
No matter your choice, and regardless of the reason; as long as you are happy, and your family benefits from it, we’re all behind you!
Of course, all the libtards this morning in editorial columns (NYT) are saying there’s probably another scandal coming.
You know what happens when people ASSume?
Happy July 4th to the Palin family! I wish Sarah Palin the best as she pursues her own conservative agenda.
I hope that I’m not repeating anyone here, but I think the reason she’s leaving is because they broke her monetarily. She stated it, but I guess no one was listening. I don’t know a governor’s salary, but if I remember correctly, it is well under 200k. She has already raked up 500k in legal bills in 6 months and would probably reach 2 million by the end of her term. Call me an idot, but that would have ran them into bankruptcy. Maybe you feel she could have raised that money through a fund; but, if she thinks like I do, it feels too much like begging. Furthermore, she said herself it is not how she does things, but I never expected any liberals or GOP and Beltway elites to understand; money seems to grow on trees for them. I here everyone say how “real a person” she is. Well, this is how real people run there lives. Sometimes, they sacrifice something they love when it has the possibility of destroying their family. I’ve had to contemplate letting a business go, because it was financially draining my family. Fortunately, it turned around, but this situation was not going to turn around for the Palin family,so she resolved the problem in the best interest of her family.
Sorry for rambling, but I also want to address Mitt Romney. Would I vote for him? Yes. Would I let him run my business? Yes. But good grief, he oozes of fakeness. You may think he will make a good leader because of his business savvy, but businesses are paid with money; freedom is paid with blood. It takes a different mind to lead a nation, and I think Sarah Palin is that leader!
Right about now, LOTE looks pretty darn good.
Apology accepted and thank you.
ROFLMAO
Is calling me names the best you can do? You, not me proved yourself to be a liar. I merely pointed it out.
The next time you get into a discussion avoid hyperbole and exagerration. And, when you do get caught in a lie, at least admit it.
It may be a bit premature to assume she will make a run for President. I’m not entirely sure she wants the continuing, unprecedented intrusion into her family’s affairs that would entail. The Statist media is just waiting to crucify her, even more so than they already have.
Personally, I think she would do more good in “reforming” the GOP back to a more principled, conservative stance, since the majority of the country considers themselves to be conservative. The GOP has WAY too many people now who are trying to cater to every little interest group and in the process, become Democrat-Lite.
Palin could go a long way in shaping the GOP’s message such that it offers a truly contrasting alternative to the socialist agenda of Obama and Congress. Whether Palin runs for national office or is in a more supporting role, remains to be seen. But, someone needs to return this country back to its roots of independence and liberty, and away from dependence and tyranny. No one in the GOP leadership I have seen today is remotely interested in pursuing that course.
When was the last time that any elected official did anything which put their state or voters first? How many elected officials have ethics and principles which guide their decisions? I see too many me first politicians. Sarah has freed herself from being used by the GOP to campaign for the likes of a Sanford. I see her helping others who share her values and vision for the country. Expect the MSM and liberal talkers to go even more viral in the weeks to come.
July 3 OneMonkeysUncle Said “Palin may be a functional moron,…. Todd and “some buddies” just “threw together”
Yep.. ONE MONKEY sounds like a real Obama’ asslice. He is want klings to OObama’s rear. Nice to see Michelle even let’s idiots like him on her.
Palin is soooo great…ya know how I know? Cause she is scaring the hell out of the libs they would not bash her if she was not great…notice they do not bash McCain?
Where is it in the Constitution that the USA is indivisible? What is the value of staying united with a wicked, immoral, perverted nation?
I am hoping that Palin has not let us down. I think she has what it takes to be a great leader, but the establishment is clearly against her. Even on FOX News the pundits are going out of their way to say that she can’t be viable in 2012. Says who?
If Palin continues to be a truthful, principled, courageous individual, I think she not only can inspire our nation, but I think she may be able to cast off some of the chains of darkness that have brought us to the brink of destruction. It’s a long shot though… conventional wisdom is that the rule of the Constitution is forever over.
zyg:
I didn’t lie. You’re the fool engaging in hyperbole.
But then, who cares what a troll thinks.
Conservatives 4 Palin accepts donations for Sarah’s legal defense fund.
Been wondering that myself. Secession is looking better and better to me. I’m fed up with living around and listening to libturds. I think we need to separate from them and let them destroy themselves instead of taking us with them.
I don’t see how we can reconcile with the way they want to “run” this country. Our differences are too vast and we are too ideologically opposed to each other.
I think our energies are best spent by separating from them and forming a new union which adheres to the Constitution as the Founders intended.
That Conservatives4Palin link is a good one. Explains alot.
Thanks atheling!
Make it two/ The Left Wing Weenies hatred for the Governor speaks volumes about their world view, dishonesty, fear and utter lack of class. Bill Maher and Al Frankenfish are their two models which OneMonkeysUncle tries so hard to emulate-real class.
It is with gratitude to my patient web-developer, and no small sense of hope and gravity, that I announce on this most fitting of days…
http://starvethebeast.net/index.html
is launched. It has polishing to be done, and I expect will be expanded soon.
But here it is.
I would value your input.
Oh, this is probably right, but I cringed because the 2008 cycle was long enough.
And here’s is gaffetastic Biden claiming that Palin was not a victim of blood sport.
Oh really? Which of your children were destroyed in the media? Did anyone comment on your wife’s looks?
Um…no. Did anyone do this to Odumbo? No.
The MSM handled Obama as if he were god.
Not ONE article or coverage during the past year was critical of Obama. At least not the fawning, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, CNBC, ABC, etc…etc…
What comedians made fun of either of these two posers? Hello? I can’t hear you! Oh, that’s right..crickets chirping.

Are you really presenting me with another opportunity to demonstrate that you are a LIAR?
It began with your post #221 saying you looked up two court cases “months ago.”
My post #224 responding to your LIE with the following cut and paste from Gov Palin’s Speach.
“. . . TWO huge U.S. Supreme Court reversals came down against that liberal Ninth Circuit, deciding in OUR state’s favor over the last two weeks. . .”
‘Months ago’ versus ‘two weeks ago’? I think I’ll go with the Gov on the facts on this one. How could you have looked up something ‘months ago’ when it was only released ‘two weeks ago’? You LIED, that is how.
I added that the SCOTUS releases their decisions at the end of the each term. Meaning, their decisions were not released ‘months ago’.
You did not tell the truth because the facts do not support your ‘moths ago’ assertion. Therefore you LIED, I understand your willingness to not accept the truth, I suppose it is because you are a LIAR.
I asked before and am asking again. Please stop, because you are embarrassing yourself.
OK, don’t admit you are a LIAR. Fine. But, let this go because each time you assert you are not a LIAR, I am simply going to repeat . . . THE FACTS.
OH, you care what I think, because you can’t let it go.
And here is Sarah Palin’s official legal defense fund website:

Pass this one around too.
After digesting the predictable glut of hypotheses re: the Palin enigma, (ranging from her chese having slid off her cracker, to whimping out, to a brilliant political tactic) and fueled by a slow news cycle, I have to go with Steyn’s take at NRO. The only way this makes any sense is a reversal on her senate run denial, and positioning for ’12. The brilliance or folly of it can only be known by what happens over the next year. IMHO, the context of the speech, especially the “advancing in a new direction” quote cinches it.
If anything, Palin comes across as genuine, and I’d take her at her word that the decision was based on a poll of her family rather than advice from conservative strategists, who’s cluelessness these days is painfully obvious.
I have $1 that says it’s a senate run in ’10. Any takers?
LOL I see Z is still playing his sematics games.
Hey Michelle, I’m actually hoping to see the Republican party fail, and one reason (besides the fact that Repubs are in large measure no different from Dems) is because of what HotAir, the premier RINO blog, has become. I guess you don’t have time to police it anymore – it was much better when it was a Vblog, and not prostituting itself for hits.
Swede — that’s the one thing I thought of…she may be running for the senate, spend 6 years there, and then run for president, maybe. No one really knows for sure, but all I know is that she’s not going away. NO WAY. And I’m sure the media circus will continue no matter what she does going forward.
Kinda surprised me that no one else is talking about her running for Senate — all they’re talking about is running for president! She herself has NEVER said publicly that’s what she wants to do.
Correction, BAL – the MSM views him as God:
Newsweek’s Evan Thomas: Obama Is Sort of God
Good for you Ragspierre. Overt acts of civil disobedience are a nice start.
I admire Mark Steyn as a true political analyst and political writer as I did Sauerkraut(GOP’er) from our beloved(not) Foxnews, but as you,I hope he is wrong. since we all have opinions, enjoy those of others. I much prefer those of Mark Levin. In short he believes the governor has been unleashed, unshakled from the duties of Alaskan Gov. after accomplishing her main goals as Gov. and turning over her remaining time to her trusted Lt. Gov. she can now if she desires pursue national acclaim and conservative leadership or retire into the love and comfort of her family and friends.
IMHO I believe she feels it is up to her or someone similiar to her honesty, integrity, morals and values to guide America out of this road to ruination lead by members of both political parties.
I wouldn’t say the premier RINO blog, dtestard. Just a site that very desperately needs solid conservative writers who don’t spend their time attacking good, conservative people (e.g. Palin) and denouncing traditional conservative values.
I very rarely bother to look at it anymore, myself. Such a shame.
Yes, Obama summoned Evan Thomas to the New Celestial City, D.C., thanked him for reminding the peasants HE is above the country, the world, HE is god. Then Obama told Evan Thomas-” And don’t you forget it mortal-now you may kiss my vaunted (ears?) and be gone”.
I IS WHOSE I IS-YOUR OBAMA FROM ON HIGH
(and as with GOD Obama does not have a birth certificate–Rush)
I’m with you, it’s a rare occasion I venture there, if I do it’s usually following a link to report on an event.
A couple of years ago when I 1st started reading blogs, I went there. After time went by started noticing a nasty taste in my mouth with this arrogant AP guy.
Not being much of an intellect I settled here, no offense meant by that MM, I feel more welcome on your site with my limited knowledge. And thank you so much for all you do for your readers, bless you lady.
Let’s not forget people:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!
And, just perhaps, wide-spread acts of non-compliance will be sufficient.
When we, as individuals, simply say “no” to the demands of those who think they are our masters, it can become a collective shout that they cannot pretend not to hear.
They need our acquiescence. They rely on it.
I propose we deny them that.
I greatly value the writings of Dr. Zero, with whom I find myself in near total agreement many times.
I like it but would suggest you quote an American not an Indian kiddie diddler who fought in 3 wars.
Rags how about something like this
I’ve never heard the pederast thing, but I do know that Gandhi was quite a racist.
He was someone, whatever his many flaws as a person, who many people associate with a successful application of the principles on which the STARVE THE BEAST notion is founded. My intent is to cast a broad net, and many Americans have little so little understanding of history, Gandhi is at least iconic in this arena.
The idea is to have rotating pictures and quotes on the home page.
I know very little about the personal life of Thoreau, but I know that he was the author…at least in America…of the idea of civil disobedience as a tool for peaceful rebellion, which is what I am doing.
Thank you for your input. I hope you will consider joining up in whatever capacity you feel appropriate.
“Gandhi was quite a racist.”
While totally politically incorrect, you can’t be a Hindu and not end up being racist. Racism is an extension of their belief system. The caste system is not going away in India just because the government out laws it. The caste system is a fruit of their belief system.
Please read Ravi Zacharias on how the belief system in India evidences itself. He was raised in the middle of the Hindu culture and speaks directly to it. Here are some of his books.

“the idea of civil disobedience as a tool for peaceful rebellion, which is what I am doing.”
What specifically are you doing to be civilly disobedient?
“I greatly value the writings of Dr. Zero, with whom I find myself in near total agreement many times.”
Wow, I went to the Green Room and found where they bury all the (good) articles that aren’t anti-Palin.
Fail.
Does anyone know of a way to send a message of support to Sarah?
I know that she has a Pac at Sarahpac.org for financial support
Yep, what a bore. He can play by himself, too.
Ragspierre:
Great! I’m in!
You’re welcome!
Preparing.
As you will note if you read the material on the site, there are ways I am proposing and ways yet to be proposed.
Let us say, as I firmly believe, that a quarter of a million Americans subscribed to this idea, what then? Would the political class ever want to push people to an act of civil disobedience that would call into question the ability of the Federal government to operate? I think the answer is they would not.
But this is not a bluff. That would just be dumb. So, that leads us to this question; suppose the political class DID push this to a head? The question is then, is there enough support to carry this to critical mass (as I call it), which is to say to the point at which prosecution will clog the system, and the non-prosecuted will have a powerful effect by their actions?
One of the things I need is help from statisticians. You will note that, in a few days, I will have a “Recruitment” page on the site. The role of the statisticians is to determine the number of people needed who would take action in relation to making this an effective force, instead of a quixotic, empty gesture.
Also, please note that I don’t pretend to know everything that we might effectively do. I need people who think creatively to join this.
Amen! Moreover, the level of their “reporting” reminds me of People Magazine. Can’t stand the arrogance of that Allahpundit – and why he is so is beyond me – his “insight” is so juvenile and blinkered that it’s laughable. His obsession with Meghan McCain, his antipathy towards Sarah Palin, and his snarky remarks make Hot Air the Daily Kos equivalent for RINOs.
Rag….
I didn’t ask you to bloviate. I asked you for specifics. What are YOU doing that one would call civil disobedience?
Maureen Dowd is publishing an article critical of Gov. Palin. Imagine that….
Gotta wonder if Dowd actually wrote this one?
Excellent! Thank you!
And you got it. Read the site material.
If you are asking if I am…as a lone guy…laying down in front of a tank today, the answer is “no”.
But I am spending my money, my time, my talent, and risking my profession on this. So, you will forgive me if I do it in my own way, according to my very capable design.
Before you ask, the answer is “yes”, my name is on the top of the list of those in every category on the list of those on the site, including a full boycott of Federal taxation.
American Patriot,
email for Sarah through Sarahpac site.
