Check out “backlash” against Rep. King over Jacko comments

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 6, 2009 05:42 PM

A whopping two people have contributed a whopping $75 to the new campaign to unseat NY GOP Rep. Peter King because he called Michael Jackson a “low-life” and a “pervert.”

HuffPo is promoting this lost cause.

Shamon!

That’s how the left keeps getting its way, by continually silencing all dissent by making those of us on the RIGHT feel like we can’t say the truth about a thing. Meanwhile they slander all things good and virtuous.

I can’t blame King for what he says. The over-the-top beatification of Jackson finally produces an equal and opposite backlash from those who have become so weary, so dismayed and finally so repulsed by it.

Anyone remember the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode in which a mad scientist type character manages to transfer his soul into Data, then gives his own funeral oration?

    Data/Mad Scientist:
“I can safely say, that to know him, was to love him. And to love him, was to know him… Those who knew him, loved him, while those who did not know him, loved him from afar –”

    Captain Picard: “Data…”

Data/Mad Scientist: “I am almost finished, Captain –”

    Captain Picard:
    “You are finished, Data!”

    – Well, that’s what I’m reminded of as long as the sob-fest continues for a talented, yet equally deeply disturbed and flawed man.

“Like a modern-day Willy Wonka tale, more than 1.6 million fans waited to learn Sunday whether they were among the lucky few to win access to Michael Jackson’s memorial service Tuesday at Staples Center.”

On Sunday evening, fans around the world started posting Twitter messages about receiving tickets.

“OMG OMG OMG OMG i got tickets to the Michael Jackson memorial service!!!”

A few days ago, What Would Tyler Durden Do had a Kornbluthian suggestion about what to do with the lucky winners:

“If LA wants to clean itself up, they should wait for all 30,000 people to show up and then just lock the doors. It’s not gonna be the team behind the Large Hadron Collider. It’s gonna be Billy Bush and Mary Hart and Joe Jackson and 800 lawyers and an army of delusional retards who the only thing they had to take time off from was clogging up 911 with calls about “that bitch is crazy, you needa arrest her ass.” They should lock the doors, and then it turns out [the fans had] actually climbed aboard a rocket.

And then just shoot that thing right into the Sun.”

Michael Jackson’s life and death are tragic. He was tremendously talented, and that talent has been wasted. He was also very likely a child molester, paid for nothing short of self-mutilation, and spent money recklessly.

Mr. King’s commentary is a bit harsh, but something that needs to be said in a political and cultural arena that is so skewed out of whack that the nation should be crying to God for forgiveness for such lack of perspective. There are heroic role models whose sad passing we should have on the front page, and Michael Jackson should be relegated to a footnote in history for what he squandered.

Micheal Jackson’s life, celebrity, death and eulogy should signal to everyone in the world how far away from mature and rational, society is, and exactly why extreme glamorization is bad for all of us in so many different ways.

Was MJ happy, healthy? Not at all.
Were those around him affected adversly? Yes very much so.
Were rules and laws bent even broken? Yes his stardom was promoted at the cost of moral example and personal injury.
What side of a pro/con graph does the bulk of his extreme adulation fall on? Not the pro side.

Is entertainment at the cost of so much, that important or that needed?

    1. His maleness
    2. His ethnicity
    3. His inability to curtail his wants and cravings.

And, we lost seven of our magnificent military members today in Afghanistan. Will our House hold a moment of silence, or propose a stamp in their honor?

Anyone see this story about MJ being buried without his brain.

Seems to properly autopsy it they had to remove it to let it solidify. The last line of the story that sums it up states:

MICHAEL Jackson starred as the Scarecrow in The Wiz, the 1978 musical version of The Wizard of Oz – playing the character without a brain opposite Diana Ross as Dorothy.

I sort of thought he had lived the last few years of his life without a brain.

BTW – I agree with Peter King.

In my post above (#21) I said NOTHING about MJ that I didn’t say PRIOR to his death and wouldn’t have said directly to his face. Public figures like MJ get talked about. Freakish public figures, once again like MJ, get trash talked.

King was right to point out the media has lost all perspective. Seven courageous US Military personnel lost their lives in Afghanistan since MJ died and all we get is 24/7 diefication of the talented drug addict.

Jackson was not convicted, he looked guilty as hell but a primarily white jury in Santa Maria acquitted him. King could have chosen different wording.

    “MJ was acquitted”

LOL! Then why did he pay $40 million to settle child molestation suits?

Just as OJ was levied with a substantial judgement for the Nicole murder in civil court?

And if he was so innocent why did he have a sensitive alarm system installed leading to his bedroom so as to alert him to anyone coming while some kid was up his wishing tree?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyAbHdqjzW0&NR=1

You don’t hear chap or misscheryl arguing that a CIVIL suit’s outcome doesn’t mean anything, because….it does.

Did MJ’s alleged childhood abuse by his father, cause him to have second thoughts about being black?

    He married white women.

    His children are white.

He bleached his skin ghostly white.

He named his estate after a fictional white boy who never grew up.

I don’t recall ever hearing him speak ebonics, either.

It seems to me he emotionally and physically abandoned the black race, both in deed and action. Those who still support, and elevate him will regardless claim his victim hood at the hands of the white man. It has already started.

I think people are kinda tired of being told to rend their clothes and weep in the streets for the latest dead celeb who, as you noted, they don’t know and who had no effect on their lives.

They’re also probably not all that keen on having another month of Paris Hilton’s problems with the law, so we’re all collectively hopin’ she keeping her nose clean – not because we love her – just to spare us from that media torture again.

And it could be worse, Thack. Someone could ask “Name something that’s green and that kids have played on?”

    Answer: Michael Jackson.

    Now that would be cruel.

Apparently you get a lot of enjoyment out of it. It’s pretty much all you do on this board. What’s really funny is that you don’t even see the contradiction in your own smug, arrogant, condescending, self-satisfied little rant.

King is entitled to his opinion, and you’re entitled to not like it. But don’t pretend to some moral high ground. Jackson was a sad little psycho. I’ve felt sorry for him forever, because he grew up without a childhood and spent his “adult” years trying to compensate. But he was still sleeping with little boys, whether he was molesting them or not.

While I wholeheartedly agree with King, I believe that discretion dictates his silence on the matter.

I have learned to restrain myself somewhat after seeing hundreds of women wearing thong swimsuits in Hawaii that should be wearing a one-piece with little attached skirt.

Biting my tongue is a survival measure, and builds character.

And the last time I laid on a beach in a swimsuit, Greenpeace volunteers kept pushing me back into deeper water.
