Stupidest House resolution ever

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has authored a congressional resolution honoring Michael Jackson.
Seriously.
You can read the whole thing here.
As The Hill’s Eric Zimmermann notes, it’s looooong.
Sample:
Whereas Michael Jackson began his stellar recording career as the featured member of ‘The Jackson 5′, which was the first act in recorded history to have their first four major label singles ‘I Want You Back’,'ABC’,'The Love You Save’, and ‘I’ll Be There’, reached the top of the American charts;
Whereas the internationally recognized ‘Thriller’ released in 1982, which became a smash hit yielded seven top-10 singles. The album sold 21 million copies in the United States and at least 27 million worldwide. It was a monumental moment in music history;
Whereas Michael Jackson was labeled ‘The King of Pop’, Jackson’s music is internationally recognized and critically acclaimed;
Whereas Michael Jackson was one of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice;
Whereas, on January 10, 1984, Michael Jackson visited the unit for burn victims at Brotman-Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles, and demonstrated his concern with people suffering from grievous injuries;
Whereas, on April 9, 1984, David Smithee, a 14-year-old boy suffering from cystic fibroses was invited to Michael’s home, in response to a dying request to meet Michael. David passed away 7 weeks later;
Whereas, on April 14, 1984, Michael Jackson was single handedly responsible for equipping a 19-bed-unit at Mount Sinai New York Medical Center. This center is now a critical part of the T.J. Martell Foundation for leukemia and cancer research;
Whereas, on July 5, 1984, during the Jackson’s press conference at Tavern On The Green, Michael announced that his portion of the earnings from the Victory Tour would be donated to three charitable organizations: The United Negro College Fund, Camp Good Times, and the T.J. Martell Foundation;
Whereas, on July 14, 1984, after the first concert of the Victory Tour, Michael met 8 terminally ill children backstage;
Therefore be it resolved that Jackson Lee’s Hollyweirdo declaration, which has been referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, is the stupidest House resolution ever.

Reader Jim: “Regarding House Resolution 600 on Mike Jackson, I have been waiting for Obama, Al Sharpton, Jackson-Lee and a few others to arrange for Mike to be brought to the Capitol to lay in state in the Rotunda.”

Sheila is speaking at the memorial speaking on behalf of congress.
Send your kids to a sleepover at MJ’s.
I so proud of MM, among the oh so very few in the media, calling this entire sick master pedophile affair like it is.
Shame Fox Friends and the whole crew sans Cavoto and Shep.

That stupid woman (Sheila Jackson) is on right now giving a stupid speech at MJ’s stupid memorial service, being covered by all the stupid media. I just tuned in for a minute and that is all I could take. This country has gone start raving insane and I don’t intend to be sucked into the madness.
It’s a fine day to take a nice long stroll outside instead, Scrapper – at least it is in the south metro area!
Here’s an idea: Cut the TV off and go about your business.
I am having my day without TV…I don’t love or hate MJ.(I’m more of a Janet fan.)But I’m not obsessing over it.
Apparently, more people DO want to celebrate him today or it wouldn’t be on all channels. Get over it.
I think one of the biggest character flaws a human being can have is to see politics in everything. Movies, TV etc etc… Us vs. Them mentality. I will thank God today that I don’t have the character flaw.
Yes it is, purple!! Here in Bloomington, I have been outside a lot today, gardening, watering, etc. Minnesota can be a lovely place to live, if you can just forget politics for a while and enjoy the weather and the lakes!! We have a lot to be grateful for here.
Senator… joke… what’s the diff?
Yup, this is the kind of day I think about as I make my way along the sidewalks, watching out for the ice spots (under the snow), in February.
I did my growing up (as much as I grew up, lol) in Mpls during it’s better years. Taking the bus to Lake Calhoun for the day was always fun. And the Aquatennial used to be a hoot!
There is definitely plenty to do in the summer. In winter, I pretty much hibernate as I get older. I have tons of hobbies to keep me busy, so I don’t even mind it. In summer, we take in the concerts at Como Pavillion and Lake Harriet Bandshell. Also, Harriet Island in St. Paul is a fun stop for the grandchildren. Of course, Bloomington has Bush Lake and Highland Park. For beauty, it doesn’t get any better than this. Twins and St. Paul Saints are fun. In the Fall, we go to the Gopher games…we have season tickets and are looking forward to enjoying the new stadium! Now, if we can just get rid of the moonbats, this state could prosper.
Yeah, it’s been a few years since I’ve gone sledding. The walk nack up the hill, whew!!
Yes – lots of fond memories of Como Park, great flowers/greenhouse, the animals and the seal show (if thy still have all that). Lake Harriet was great for freebie concerts and sometimes, a Shakespeare performance.
Don’t know if I’ve ever been there in all my years as a MN (entire life). Back in the day, our folks used to take us for picnics along the river, tho. Lilydale was a fave spot.
Those are nearby to me, too, but I’ve “never beem”!
Sounds like y’all keep busy. I’m not as big a follower of sports, but I usually watch the Vikes on the telly.
I don’t mind ‘em – if they’re not in office.
I know the years are sneaking up on me when on a great day like this I think, “What a beautiful day for a nap!”, lol.
She at least was part of the Royal Family.
one wonders why she didn’t make a house resolution honoring actual heroes. Oh yeah, I forgot. Her ‘massah’ has decided that actual heroes are now called “Terrorists”
No wonder our dollar has become Monopoly money. These people are in charge of it.
I hope MM gets a chance to read this far down post as a heads-up, if not I’ll repost it in another related one.
My sister was the principal of a Southeast Queens junior high school. She’s a very intelligent person but rabidly Dem, to the point she related to me that at a get-together with her fellow community board members of how much they’d love to see Obama start applying Executive Orders to ram through things that he’s getting stiff opposition to, from finance thru education and social services. I told her that E.O.’s could easily be the candy of dictators but she rebuffed that they (her group) DIDN’T CARE, so long as Obama uses E.O.s to sweep away everything standing in the way of “doing good.” It was a pretty frightening call to hear her that passionate, and to know that Queens pols are even talking this way makes me concerned of this “trickling up” the Dem ladder. I DO know that this a a very seductive hope among the black community and that Sharpton is deep in this notion too and God knows how many nationwide. Using an E.O. as a social engineering magic wand is dangerous beyond belief, and I hope MM and her colleagues at least bring this up early to head off any surprises from the WH.
