Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee just pimped the stupidest House resolution ever on stage at the Jacko memorial at Staples Center. She held up a big, framed copy of it as the crowd cheered. That was after she extolled “The King,” painted him as the world’s greatest humanitarian, and demagogued the child molestation cases by proclaiming that members of Congress “understand the Constitution” and “we understand laws” and we know that “people are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE!”
Yes, she did. Right there in front of Jacko’s three children.
I thought Al Sharpton’s memorial rant (“There was nothing strange about your daddy!”) was the low point for American culture.

That speech was expected the minute they proposed the resolution. That speech at the memorial service is precisely what the resolution was for. . . that audience.

I left the country on the 29th June, thinking that the MJ telethon would be over by the time I got back. Well here I am, and guess what, if anything it’s gotten worse. This is beyond sick.
It’s hard for me to think of something I care less about than MJ’s funeral. I’m not convinced he was a child molester, but he was a freak and a misfit who squandered many opportunities to do good. I thought a few of his songs were okay, but nothing special. I remember a friend telling me I needed to watch the Thriller video when it was popular, but even then I didn’t think it was worth the attention it was receiving. I also remember thinking it was weird when he started grabbing his crotch while he danced. Is this the “genius” everyone keeps talking about? The praise he’s been given just seems like another example of the soft bigotry of low expectations.

While the focus today, tomorrow and for the next how-many-days will be the death of a pop culture icon Michael Jackson. While many will mourn, wail and quite literally make fools of themselves over it and while as many will speak endlessly about it. Allow me, if only for a moment, to remind us all that others have died this month. Others whose lives were cut short; others who leave behind loved ones and whose families will dearly miss them. Families who’ll suffer with much more dignity and honor than we’ll be exposed to on the tube in the coming days.
I heard rumors, Mount Rushmore is next.
I did a little test at work… at 1:00, I changed the TV station in our galley to ESPN, at 4:00 it’s still on ESPN. There are over 100 people who work on my floor. It seems the media are the only ones obsessed with this circus.
I know I will be crucified for this but MJ did give a lot of his money and time to over 25 charities – one thing I respect him for.
As far as Lee, it’s obvious she wanted to be in the spotlight. Another shameless, classless politician.

I think you have hit on a big truth with that statement. And by his love of children, he was trying to make up for his horrible childhood. I’m still not convinced he was a pedophile. Chances are, he was. But he may have just wanted to be a child himself, since he missed out the first time around.
It’s not just this stupidity. The whole country is slowly going insane. I predict that all of these people who were singing “Happy Days are Here Again!” when BO was inaugurated this January will be in the streets in a few short months demanding “justice” and “a level playing field” when the Federal Government has run out of enough paper to print money and welfare checks on. It won’t stop until they’ve burned down the last private business, leveled the last civilized community, and sent the last tax-payer to the morgue.
Parts of this culture already have debased themselves into oblivion (ie. durug, rap/hip hop, etc). It will be determined what percentage of this culture will lower themselves into the gutter. If too many lower themselves than the rest of us will have to fight to protect ourselves from the gutter overflow.

Indeed! I’m trying to choose between “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain”, “Deathwish”, “Breakfast At Tiffany’s” and “Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers (original)”. I think “Breakfast” might win out, though. Hepburn had such class and talent. Choices, choices.
Any would be a “rerun” but when you like a movie, that don’t matter.
My wife recorded the entire parade. She’s going to watch it when she gets home. I won’t be eating tonight. I can think of some nice food to fill me up but there’s no way it’s staying down. And now those silly movies are topped by Democrat Representative Sheila Jackson Lee & Other Hucksters at the Michael Jackson Memorial on every channel, even FOX. If I were to say Democrat Representative Sheila Jackson Lee & Other Hucksters at the Michael Jackson Memorial is a waste of bandwith I would be a racist so I won’t.
