Confirmed: Deliberative democracy is a joke

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

That was the reaction of Democrat House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer to the idea that members of Congress would actually read the health care takeover bill before voting on it:

“If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn’t read it in its entirety, I think we would have very few votes,” Hoyer told CNSNews.com at his regular weekly news conference.

Hoyer was responding to a question from CNSNews.com on whether he supported a pledge that asks members of the Congress to read the entire bill before voting on it and also make the full text of the bill available to the public for 72 hours before a vote.

In fact, Hoyer found the idea of the pledge humorous, laughing as he responded to the question. “I’m laughing because a) I don’t know how long this bill is going to be, but it’s going to be a very long bill,” he said.

“Members clearly–and staff and review boards, they read them in their entirety. They go over it with members, and members read substantial portions of the bill themselves, but the issue is–I don’t know who signed this (pledge), but frankly the opposition has been very vociferous, not of the verbiage and bill, but on the concept that it incorporates,” Hoyer said.

Let Freedom Ring, a Delaware-based conservative organization, is circulating a pledge that asks members of Congress to promise to read the entirety of the final text of a health-care reform bill before they vote on it. They also are asking that the full bill be made available for review by the public for 72 hours before Congress votes on it.

Obama lied, transparency died.

The joke’s on you. And it keeps getting more and more expen$$$$ive every day.

It does on at least on Obamacare, Corkie.

Yes, but it seems like a one-off kinda thing.

Hold your Senators and Members of Congress accountable for reading any healthcare reform legislation up for vote by having them sign our pledge:

They are specifically singling out healthcare reform.

OK. Now go to bed. I promise I won’t post anything else until you’re back.

I was justing sitting down to reply to ya, Corkie when a lotta stuff hit the fan – a large complex near me went up in flames!

Big flames, lots of smoke, police, fire, the whole ball-o-wax. Though I’m not a member of our fine volunteer FDept, I am a community volunteer and , as you can imagine, there’s a lot of people who need help.

I took a couple of pics but it’s a cheap camera so it’s just mostly blurs of lights from emergency vehicles.

At any rate, I’ll be busy this eve so I’ll catch up with you later on this. And here I had planned a nice Fri night relaxing and watching a DVD or 2, lol!

I remember as a kid when one building my family lived in had a fire – it really disrupts lives to say the least. In this case, the complex seems to be at least somewhat gutted and I think no lives were lost, but only the morning will tell.

    Gotta go, see ya.
