Dems on Gitmo transfer funds: Shhhhhhhhh!

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 9, 2009 12:56 PM

They don’t want to talk about it. From GOP Rep. Roy Blunt’s office:

Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt accused the House Democratic leadership of refusing to debate the use of tax dollars to compensate foreign nations for relocating Guantanamo detainees. The Democrat-led House Rules Committee last night blocked Blunt’s amendment to the House Intelligence Authorization Bill to stop payment of any U.S. tax dollars to foreign nations who house these dangerous suspected terrorists.

“Once again, House Democrats are proving they view the transfer and detention of Gitmo detainees as a hot potato they don’t want to touch,” Blunt said. “Instead, they’re sending the suspected terrorists held at Guantanamo to the lowest bidder without consideration for the threats they pose to our national security.

“There is no clear plan for handling these dangerous detainees after they have been transferred. House Democrats don’t want to discuss next steps: Will they be granted citizenship, will they be granted passports, will they be free to legally enter the United States?

“From prison to paradise without a plan: the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card.”

The Obama administration paid $200 million to the government of Palau in exchange for 17 Chinese Uighurs – members of a terrorist group affiliated with al-Qaeda – held at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. Days later, four Uighurs were transferred to Bermuda without the consultation of the British Government, causing problems in our strategic relationship with the United Kingdom.

Blunt’s amendment originally received bipartisan support when it was offered before the House Intelligence Committee but was defeated by Committee Democrats. Blunt is also an original cosponsor of legislation requiring President Obama to receive approval from state legislatures and governors prior to transferring detainees at Gitmo to facilities within their state. Blunt is a co-sponsor of legislation opposing the transfer of detainees to Fort Leavenworth as well.

Duh One REALLY needs to hire Sherrif Joe Arpaio to run his prison camps. He can do it for a fraction of that amount, and they’d run better.
Screw the American Communist Lawyers Union!

Nope! The goal seems to be outsourcing all of the high-paying Union Jobs or destroying their industries altogether … even including some government jobs as with DMV and the IRS debacles of late. Go figure huh?

Fixed it as a reminder that the Obama administration couldn’t pay for a cup of coffee without the US taxpayers. The government, regardless of which party is in charge, pays for nothing.

In other words, we just paid $200 million to send these Uighers on a meager vacation. For that price I would assume that tips are included. Lets hope they were telling the truth when they said that China’s worse than Gitmo. Then, perhaps, they won’t be holding a grudge against America when they’re voted off the island.

Right concept wrong crowd. Those people will be given their freedoms and the ability to enjoy them. We the people will be given the bill, expected to pay for that and everything else and toil for whatever crumbs the gubmint is willing to allow us to keep.
