A slobbering love affair: Orrin Hatch and Chris Dodd

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 17, 2009 10:35 AM

Sen. Chris Dodd is an unrepentant crony Democrat caught up in multiple sleazy scandals, hypocrisy, and lies that have turned off his constituents and his own local party leaders.

Sen. Orrin Hatch is the vice chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

What the hell is Sen. Hatch doing praising Dodd as “one of the better Senators here.” Is he working undercover for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee? Because he has just supplied Dodd with a gem of a campaign ad.

Yet another reason not to donate money to the NRSC.

Right you are-I will and I do find CONSERVATIVE candidates to support but sending money to these RINO Centrals is worse than a waste-it feeds the infection. Sen. Orrin Hatch seems to have a love affair with a lot of hard Leftist/bums–begone fool.

And do not donate the RNC or the Republican House Committee either. They ignore us-tit for tat.

You should do this H & R Block fashion. Count up the reasons we should be shunning financial support to NRSC, which has turned, for the most part into a minor subsidy of the Democrat Party.

This story should be, by now, something like “Reason #11,289 not to contribute to the NRSC”.

Too many GOP Senators really do love their counterpart Dems and no doubt pal around with them after working hours.

And yet another argument for term limits and a part time Congress. These people are also are probably jealous of the Dems, observing what can get away with and the GOP can’t, not to mention they want to be popular with the Dems. If they stood their ground on Republican principles, they’d be very lonely in DC.

Let’s not forget that Chris Dodd is one of the nastiest politicians in the land. He is still remembered infamously by me and others for his “speech” in 1984 or thereabouts following an address by President Reagan. He sided with Ortega in Nicaragua and accused the US of murder and imperialism and all sorts of things. I think he even accused the US of complicity in the murder of four nuns in El Salvador (although that could have been Mario Cuomo who made that whopper. Cuomo stopped repeating that lie after it turned out that Carter was president when the nuns were killed). And let’s not forget that Dodd’s father was censured by the US Senate for converting campaign donations to personal gain and Dodd’s dad also double dipped for travel expenses and should have ended up in the federal pen. Chris still defends his shyster dad and said ole Tom Dodd never did anything wrong.

Yup. Just like a stable needs cleaning, so does CONgress, and more frequently at that. The more time spent in CONgress the less able these CONgresspeople would be and have been in knowing how to find honest work, or even trying.

There’s also a touch of Stockholm Syndrome in the Stupid Party. The more they have their teeth kicked in by the Dems, the more they question what it is they’re doing wrong that makes the Dems so justifiably angry with them?

To wit, when the Senate was 50-50, the Dems demanded – and the Stupid Party readily acquiesced – that they have “power sharing” but when the Dems have a 60-40 supermajority, they are quite happy to rule as if it was 100-0. (OK, it’s like 98-2 because sellouts like Snowe and Collins get called (R) while voting (D).)

Donating to the NRSC, RNC, etc is a grab bag affair. Much of the agenda for these national groups has no value for conservatives. Your contribution could be used to support the re-election of a Democrat like Arlen Spector. Oh, wait. When Arlen ran against Pat Toomey in 2004, it was!

Donate to a specific candidate that you believe in. That way you know exactly where it is going.

So true of the last 20 years or so. In ’68 didn’t a third party help split the Dem vote in the presidential election?

It would take a mighty effort nowadays to make any current minor political party relevent enough and hugely attractive enough to be the third party which can draw significant numbers of those dissatisfied with and willing to defect from either or both of the two major parties.

It is possible. The GOP was once a third party and replaced a polictal party that had lost its relevance in the polital landscape of the 1850′s. Whigs anyone?

IIRC the fledgling GOP first drew national attention in the 1856 elections, but did have to have help in 1860 by a huge rift of factions in the Democrat Party for Lincoln to win.

Sadly, I don’t see the change in power in the near future.

Most manufacturing jobs have already been outsourced to the countries with abundance of cheap labor. Those countries are also investing their profits into educating their populations.
Once they figure out that, besides actually producing the goods that the World buys from them, they can also service (paper pushing) their economy, USA will be done.

Sharing the wealth from the nation’s Producers to the lazy BUMs (and some unfortunate souls) is a compassionate idea.

we have had 3 parties in this country for over 40 years, they just don’t get labelled that way by the media. liberals will always vote for liberals, ie lgm, conservatives will always vote for conservatives, and the “independents, moderates, libertarians” will always elect the politicians. which ever way they swing at any election will be the winner, because “the base” of both parties is evenly split somewhere in the 30% range. the remaining 40% decide the elections. they vote their pocketbook!
