Republicans: Clean your own house

The rotten American Conservative Union/David Keene pay-for-play scandal underscores a point I’ve made over and over and over again:
The GOP can’t attack the Democrat culture of corruption (my new book comes out July 27) until it cleans its own house first.
The John Ensign mess keeps getting worse.
Stubborn, selfish, prevaricating Mark Sanford keeps embarrassing himself and conservatism.
And there’s another sex scandal on C Street.
Grass-roots conservatives are livid and lashing out.
We’ve got major battles on the Hill and fundamental principles to defend.
Show the corrupted, Beltway-infected, power-drunk Republicans the door.
And get back to work.

At least, with you, ambulances chasers now have someone they can look down upon.
Good, grasshopper! You are learning!
chap, I suggested you take your lawyer hat off, you may feel better…you know take a break. I sure as hell don’t have to defend myself to you…you obviously missed the point of the post. Now if you’d have been a little civil in your reply to my 1st post I would have accommodated you and gave the site address, your snaky reply had me think twice about that.
As usual your trying to be web site’s lawyer/marshal/judge/critic. You can save your bs remarks for someone that cares what you think.
I have learned you are an ignorant, arrogant putz. That didn’t take long and you can take full credit for that lesson…
RightisRight,
Chappy is a legend in his own mind and he deeply in love with himself. He dreams about marrying himself and will undoubtedly lead the legal crusade for same-self marriage in Washington, DC.
Since when does a lawyer call out obvious BS?
So supporting the point justifies making up “facts”?
No need. All I had to do was google the exact language of your post and I was able to find dozens of sites that, shockingly, used the exact same language.
Call it what you want. You cut and pasted some stupid internet crap and I called you on it.
now that’s funny!
He’s been drinking again…it’s Friday night, you know.
If you read any of his posts it is obvious that he never stops drinking. He sounds just like Sotomayor…
Actually, Chappy may well be the love child or Sotomayor and Ward Churchill…
Slooooowly…..don’t want to eff uuuuup…
Actually, Oscarmayor is diabetic, which can often be confused with public intoxication.
Would have been funnier if I lived in DC, but it was a good effort. Not cookie worthy, WE, but maybe juice box worthy.
It does help me slog through your posts.
Except Chappy is not as smart or good looking as either…
I told you I won’t and don’t have to justify to you anything I post on here, now go have some more kool aid…laced with vodka not doubt, you’ve bragged on here what a lush you are…seems like you weren’t a “swingin’ bachelor” then either. Don’t ell me she got tired of your arrogant ass.
I just puked. Thanks war…
No, you don’t. Your post speaks for itself.
Goodness no. That was a joke. She is twice the liberal I am and a better drinker than most. And annoyed I am spending time here. It is a match made in heaven.
anyone besides me notice the similarity in looks between MJ and Sotomayor if MJ was 100 pounds heavier of course?
hummmmm
is that your delite in life chap, MISERY?
Gee, some days you just can’t win. I logged into MM’s page because my husband is watching some guy movie…
For misscheryl’s sake I will excuse myself for the rest of the night.
Have a good weekend Chap
Hey, I just got here – where’d everybody go?
We have term limits-very two years we get to vote out the entire House and one third of the Senate. Conservatives have to get as hard and as ruthless rooting out weaklings and cowards as our enemies on the left are at attacking our candidates. Conservatives, constitutionalists, we who hold our liberties dear have to fight a lot harder.
I am staying in the Republican Party at least until we see if we can deny John McCain the re-nomination for US Senate in 2010-if he gets it I can not see staying around. Some of my fellows are supporting Chuck Devore of California in his bid to take Barbara Boxers seat “she worked so hard to win”.
AZ – I would think that the common Democrat voter may be thinking the very same thing, since getting a real good look at where the party has gone since the 2006 takeover, and the lapdogging Obama and Pelosi it has done is nothing short of foul and un-American. The agenda is clear to see, and I would think that Joe Common Democrat is doing some serious soul-searching.
Well I see a few of us have our priorities straight. Let’s not do anything foolish like even attempt to defeat Obama by doing the only thing that would oppose him, such as voting for the republican who won the nomination of his party.
And yeah, lets stay in the republican party for the sole act of defeating the evil rino traitor. And then, after that, join an impotent third party that will lose elections and split the vote from the rest of conservatives to help the democrats with election after election. Yeah, sounds just so awesome of a plan. That will teach these republicans!
You know, for all of the awesome work you folks are doing for the conservative cause by helping out the democrats with your opposition to the evil rino traitor because the evil rino traitor has been palling around with democrats ….
None of you brilliant people have ever realized the consequences of your actions at all, have you? That the democrats read these pages, and absolutely love you because of your actions, and the results that have occurred because of what you all have advocated – has benefited them?
You are all worth your weight in gold for the democrats. And they were worried about the disaffected Hillary supporters, sabotaging their own part by not supporting Obama because of their own selfish, petty disagreements.
Yes it would be nice if we could clear our own house in regards to our elected officials who embarrass us. But the more destructive danger to conservatism as a whole is this cancer that is living within the so called conservative voting base that is doing more damage to us from within than any external threat from our adversaries.
I hope Joe Common Democrat is doing some serious soul-searching-very serious searching. How to reach millions? I hear fears about the costs in dollars of these programs bothering many but little concern about the costs to Liberty, individual autonomy and Constitutional principles.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is now “rethinking” his position on Judge Sotomayor as “she appears moderate”. Sens. Richard G. Lugar of Indiana, Olympia J. Snowe of Maine and retiring Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida are all supporting the Leftist Loon.
Not only can we not stop any of these Obaminations we can not get the damn Party united enough to go down fighting. If Joe Common Democrat sees the Republicans being Leftist Loons he might as well stay home-it does not bode well. To quote and follow some others on this list I am done sending money to the Party and it’s committees–I only send to CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATES.
Yes we have Thomas; from the days the Republican elite abandoned Barry Goldwater, tried to stop the “B-movie cowboy” Ronald Reagan to their “consensus” on Ruth Bader Ginsberg to the nomination of John McCain WE, me and mine, have been in the trenches working for the Party-always with a rather forlorn hope at best. We are the people who send in the $2400 maximum, work the phones, seal the envelopes and get out the vote.
And an “All God’s Children Amnesty Shamnesty” or Republican spending binge can undo years of work in days. We are told that President Bush’s approval rating collapsed because of the war-and to an extant it did. But his failure to follow conservative principles cost him much support–rather like a “read my lips’ issue years earlier.
Fascism lite, fascism with some financial restraint or fascism better managed does not impress. We don not have time to wait and defeat Obama if he continues with this huge majorities in Congress and weak Republicans will not unseat large numbers of these Leftist Loons. So to re answer-Yes Thomas-we do.

… or something even more foolish like voting for the Republican, who just happens to be a Democrat with an R next to his name.
How exactly is electing someone just like Obama akin to “defeating” him?
RWR

The point is that the Republicans do not represent the conservative cause. They represent the Republican cause, which isn’t much better than the Democrat cause. Simply two ways of going about the same wrong thing. For all the good the Republicans would do even if they were to win, they might as well run as Democrats.
Our opposition to the Republicans isn’t about beating Obama or McCain, it’s about beating the LIBERALISM that both and their parties espouse.
If you are comfortable with the Republicans, then by all means vote for them. I for one, will not vote for a liberal, regardless of party affiliation. If the Republicans want my vote (or the Democrats, for that matter), then they will heed that and present an appropriate candidate.
I won’t be holding my breath.

Nope, I am not-we do have some good people here, Senator Kyl generally holds the line. My Congressman Jeff Flake is generally good-flaked out on amnesty sad to say.
I do believe it is worth one more try-then other actions must be considered. Arizona seems to have the best and the worst.
Flake R District 6 generally good
Shaddagg R District 3 good
Trent Franks R District 2 good
And some of our Democrats are downright Reconquesta/LaRaza partisans
District 7
Rep. Grijalva, Raul [D]
District 4
Rep. Pastor, Edward [D]
And a couple of dingleberries hanging on.
My long time friend JD Hayworth lost District 5 to a damn leftist (college town of Tempe) during the recent massacre. So please allow me one more fight-then the other actions will be considered. Half measures are worth nothing-but sometimes I guess I am just running my head into a wall
I don’t spend much time reading the liberal/progressive blog comments and probably should. Do the lib/prog ‘commenters’ bicker amongst themselves, like I see here??
I continue to believe that unless the non-liberal / pro constitution members of what ever party you want to call it become united…we’ll continue to lose more elections.
Fine. so vote for the conservatives and make sure the liberals get voted out.
Point still stands. As a party, the Republicans are NOT CONSERVATIVE.
RWR
http://www.rightwingrocker.com
We are going to lose elections as long as Republicans and Democrats are able to convince people to vote for them.
This practice of equating Republicanism with Conservatism is both sickening and apalling.

Yes, but usually it is about whether or not the 2001 vintage of Chateau d’Yquem is going to eventually exceed the exceptional 1967. Often, bannings ensue from our heated debates on whether so called “humane” Spanish fois gras can ever hold a candle to the real stuff.
Attention nose-holders: cast your lifetime vote for Republicans and STFU already!!! Your vote is automatic! No thinking involved. See Republican, vote Republican. Those of us who actually have principles are working here! Go away!
Go hang out at Townhall or some other website that posts nothing that is not first RNC-approved. You will find like-minded people at those sparsely-visited sites. I’m sure the LA Clippers have fans too.
rightwingrocker – What went with mrminority?
Rick Perry, a former Democrat and rising GOP star who originally made some noise about rejecting federal stimulus money, is now asking for more stimulus money.
What ever happened to the glorious Texas economy? With all the lecturing we get from Texans, you would think you guys had your government spending under control. You don’t?
MP: we don’t need any more “rising GOP stars”. We need true conservative candidates. Elect conservatives of any party and then caucus as conservatives once elected. It’s happening already. Otherwise, amnesty, cap and trade, nationalized health insurance and gun bans would be established law already.
Go Sarah!!!
I think everyone here can join and work in whatever political party one wishes to. We can work to bring conservatives to the forefront of our respective parties.
Even if you work in the Democrat (gasp!) party, most posters here would bring a bit of common sense to the organization.
I would not, however, swear fealty to any party. I reserve the right to cast my vote as my conscience dictates.
It is by joining a party, working for the party at the grassroots, donating time and money, that the communists have taken over the democrat party and have infiltrated the republican party. The political process must be recaptured from the subversives if its not already too late.
If you want a conservative to run then you need to become a precinct committeeman. They are the ones who choose who is on the ballot–including incumbents. That is where the grass-roots efforts start–not in the voting booth. By that time it is too late. There are thousands of openings in precincts in every state. Check into YOUR precinct and then sign up. That is unless you prefer to pitch and moan about the lack of good candidates or the lesser of two evils. The time to sit on your sofa is OVER!!! Get off your lazy a$$e$ and get involved at the precinct level or it will just be more of the same. Best part you don’t have to go very far to do that–no farther than you have to exercise your right to vote—while you have one!!!
For you conservatives who are looking for reasons to feel confident about taking a non-partisan approach, you might want to read an essay I posted at my blog almost two years ago called “Watching and Waiting, Like Coiled Springs”.
Polls are increasingly showing that we conservatives are a major party unto ourselves. Yet “both” parties would rather engage in overly expensive and contentious campaigns in taking turns warring with the majority of American voters.
If we could simply commit to organizing outside of the one-party system, we will inevitably undermine them and either take over or replace one or both.
But you gotta believe. There is too much defeatism here.
Go Sarah!!!
It’s his busy season at work.
He hasn’t made a decision as to when to pick up the blogging again.

The Democrats are, and have been for several decades, at war. They are at war with Republicans; they are at war with American history and traditions; they are at war with the ordinary white male; they are at war with decency itself. Until Republicans recognize and face up to the reality of Democrat hostility to everything that makes us who we are, there can be little hope for our future.
I have to agree with that.
Chasing after power, money and control with no regards for anyone or anything.
What puzzles me is most all of the bills in committee and on the floor are well on their way to being unconstitutional, if not already there, and few are bringing this to light.
We are in that age where what is good is evil, and what is evil is good.
Michelle,
You are going off the rails here. Your solution will lead to more time on the wilderness.
ALINSKY RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
Simply say “There are bad apples on both sides of the aisle. Unlike the other side, our focus is to clean up our barrel as we find them.”
That is exactly what I am talking about. It’s not Republicans who don’t get it, it’s YOU! It’s a one-party system! Forget about Republicans! It’s NOT up to Republicans. It’s up to US and we outnumber them.
Did you know that if you draw a chalk line on the sidewalk and hold down a chicken’s beak to the ground so it sees the line, after you a couple of minutes you can release its head and it will stay there as if it is tied to the ground? Don’t be that chicken!
Are you a conservative or a Republican? Only one matters. Pick one.
So you have no problem with supporting partly pregnant, sometimes honest candidates? It is not the Democrats that have a problem with “anything goes” morality, it is the Republicans and they use it as a weapon.
The GOP formula:
Republicans = Democrats + hypocrisy.
You’re okay with that?
The GOP has forged its own highway into the wilderness with a platform of “Yeah we suck, but they’re much worse!!!!”
You’re okay with that?
At some point, you have to walk the walk because words are cheap.
The only way to find this puzzling is to ignore that the Republicans and the Democrats are on the same side in the aforementioned war.

Not here!!
Not here either. These posters act as if we have not heard these ridiculous arguments 1K times already. I will vote for conservatives (and only those that oppose amnesty and want immigration laws enforced).
I have never lectured but do chastize states who are completely bankrupt. But this Gov Perry thing refusing bailout $ was a farce from the beginning. This is how our state handles $. After a study concluded not enough “poor families” (aka legal and illegal immigrants from south of the border) were taking advantage of taxpayer funded programs, they set out on a multi $M advertising campaign to encourage MORE people to sign up for SCHIP and welfare. They spent a large amount in the spanish speaking media. SO how is that for wise spending? They couldn’t give enough away so they advertise to give more away. Sheer idiocy. Perry is a the consumate politician. Switching sides depending on who he is speaking to.
