Sign the petition: Keep Gitmo detainees out

The Democrats in Washington don’t want to talk about Obama’s Gitmo release policies.
But you do have a voice.
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a Senior Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has posted a video and petition opposing the transfers of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the United States. He’s also sponsoring an amendment, S.Amdt.1559, to the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2010 (S.1390), which prohibits the transfer of detainees from Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to any facility in the United States. From Sen. Inhofe’s office:
“By more than a 3 to 1 margin, Americans are opposed to detainees being transferred to their home states. And to date, the views of the American people have not changed,” Inhofe said. “Regardless, the administration is committed to fulfilling its political campaign promise to close GITMO, even though President Obama has yet to visit the facility for himself.
“Right now we have an opportunity to stop the President from bringing terrorists to American soil. My amendment will do just that, but I need you to weigh in. By signing this petition, you are telling the Senate and the President that it is unacceptable to house terrorists in your home states. I will make sure that my Senate Colleagues see these petitions and that they are aware of your opposition before they vote on this very important legislation.”

Thanks Michelle for being in the trenches and front lines and in many cases, being a leader for those of us who don’t always know the best way to be proactive in these issues that matter so much.
While I oppose transferring any detainees to populated areas here, I could go along with transferring them to an Aleutian Island, especially one with an active volcano.
Well, if we do bring them to the States, I suggest we build a prison for them in D.C. Maybe in an upscale neighborhood where Congress persons live.
Is there any real estate available on Pennsylvania Ave?
Depending on what they’re up for, I heard there was space available in Barney’s basement.
Too bad Inhofe or Coburn couldn’t have been the NRSC Chairman instead of that RINO Cornyn.
These poor souls have been detained, water boarded, and abused by us long enough.
I say release them.
Releasing them in the middle of the Fort Riley Imapct Area about 20 seconds before the start of the Fort Riley Firepower Demonstration would by fine with me.
Free tickets and VIP seating for 9/11 family members.
I’m quite sure they are fully aware of public opposition. Senators are also fully aware of the financial support of trial lawyers they get, and having the detainees in the states will make it much easier and more profitable for the detainee’s defense attorneys.
And besides, it’ll make it easier for the detainees to take advantage of immigration amnesty when it becomes availabe…..another happy Democrat voting bloc.
only if you have a kinky side that is…
Spoken like a wise and learned Hawkeye.
Spot on.
I’m rather radical..I’d like to carpet bomb the whole Middle East region. Stick an American flag in the middle of it and take their oil…but that’s just me. Don’t even ask me what I’d do to those (ahh hum) people in Gitmo.
And you’ll never guess where. Chicago!
Why sure! That’s why they never go anywhere without their prayer rugs!
Hawkeye54 - not openly. They’ll behave the way these hypocrite muslims do when they’re in the states. These strict muslims love to visit the stripper bars and drink the free flowing alcohol of the good ‘ol USofA. the POTUS&TOTUS probably made a deal with the devil (these people) long before he became president in an effort to “help the cause.” If you read the article further it mentions how this group isn’t even trying to hide it’s intentions anymore(unlike Obama)
Signed, sealed, delivered. Thanks for the link, MM.
Why should they hide their intentions? Their goal is to convert the USA into a glorious Caliphate, after all. To them, the sooner, the better.
My wife and I also signed, for what its worth. Thanks again for your dilligence MM!
Gays, couples living in sin, girls that enjoy those tight jeans and short skirts…take note. Get your burkas now. Would you like the black one, or the black one?
The biggest reason I have for not wanting Enemy Combatants in the United States is primarily letting the ACLU get their hands on them and demand that the taxpayers tie up our judicial system with court appointed attorneys, constitutional rights, and an endless number of appeals.
Since they were non-uniformed combatants, by rights, they should have been summarily executed when captured. Instead, we give them bed-and-breakfest accomodations with access to their Quran and prayer blankets along with a compass pointing toward Mecca while U.S. citizens are having trouble bringing Bibles into our schools. What insanity.
One more thing..why is Al Queda meeting in Chicago? Why not NYC? They’re pretty familiar with the area already.
Ya think? Theres money to be made in those endless appeals.
Because they’ve got a huge base in the midwest. And it’ll be closer for those taking part in the camal caravans coming from the Detroit area.
Besides, NYC wouldn’t take kindly to and be kinda nervous about a large Al Queda meeting. No?
Hawkeye – I was being sarcastic..sorry, I forgot the sarc tag.
Better idea. More rounds on target and less travel for 9/11 families.
No prob. NYC does have a large muslim population, so not so far fetched.
25 signers from MM, is that an indication lots are at work and can’t sign, ooops, at work or looking for another job, I should have said.
Misscheryl: Intelligence gathering for their next round of strikes. NYC has been hit, time to spread the wealth!
I signed.
Like Dan709: Signed, Sealed and Delivered.
However, the brilliant pair of senators from my state (WA) are blindly saturated by NObama’s kool aid and are quickly achieving a super saturated status. Still, I can hope for a change, can’t I?
Good God. There are just some things one shouldn’t be required to sign a petition in order to avoid.
Releasing a people’s sworn enemy into the populace is one of them.
Matty – but, but, but…that was when common sense ruled the day. Not so much today and here’s something else to choke on:
plain and simple, anti-American
#30 & 31 this is why people flock to sarah palin and abhor our politicians. common sense has gone out the window in d.c. replaced by reelection politics which pander to whichever group they are speaking to on any given day. we really don’t need the smartest person to lead this country, but an honest one would be really nice.
Arizona wants it’s share-play nice Flyoverman
Or just split them between NYC and SodomyBay and let Michael Bloomberg and Gavin Newsom reason with them-perhaps housing and training-just no flight schools.
Obama, Napolitano and Holder will “protect” America against honest citizens-Black Panthers, Black muslims and jihadist get a bye.At the moment I fear our own security services more than Gitmo graduates.
A Ruby Ridge in every state!

Possibly we could dig up CHARLES BRONSON and have him do a little “community organizing” (DEATH WISH MOVIE STYLE) on released GITMO “detainees” (aka terrorists) and at the Chicago Islamic Supremacy Conference.

Instead of moving the terrorist out of Gitmo, we should move Obama and his democrats and RINOs in with them.
