Yes, but do so in about an hour and a half so I can have a few more good laughs before I leave.
Dear, arrogant, elitist, moronic, narcissistic Chappy,
It is obvious you highly esteem your own opinion. You have made that abundantly clear throughout the day. Not all of us attend to your pompous ramblings with the same delight as you though.
You are a legend in your own mind and you can’t help but attempting to demonstrate the love you feel for, well, you! It makes love stories like Anthony and Cleopatra or Nicholas and Alexandra or Romeo and Juliet pale in comparison to the love between Chappy and Chappy!
I have allowed you the perfect platform to demonstrate what a narcissist you are. And I appreciate your eager demonstration.
And I appreciate your “little buddy,” oA, pitching in remind us of his undying love and devotion for you. It is amusing. I haven’t seen such a devoted pair like the two of you since Gilligan and the Skipper. It warms the heart, really.
Next time you think you have something I want to hear think once for a change and keep your arrogant, elitist, moronic, narcissistic, ambulance-chasing thoughts to yourself.
Chappy. French for “about 10 books.”
…sorry, but that just couldn’t be allowed to stand.
…WE82 and his cousin.
Ohhh…but then we would be deprived of your gems of wit and wisdom!
Again, set aside your personal feelings for me and tell your guests that Barbera d’Asti will probably be too acidic and soft to go well with London Broil. That they would be wise to go with something with a bit more of a tannic backbone. But that the Asti would make a perfectly refreshing pre-dinner drink. I expect in any case, you will deny doing so, because that would bruise your banana-skin ego…But we both know the truth. You will take credit tonight for MY expertise.
Your welcome, by the way.
“WarEagle82″
…faux-latin for “my mother and aunt are the same person.”
Dear ZeroIntellect,
Truly, you may be the sharpest knife in your own kitchen but in the real world there are few knives duller than you.
Your “rapier wit” must make all the kindergarten kids around you cry in the sandbox.
ZeroEverything. Terror of the kindergarten playground.
What a putz…
I am BEGGING to be “deprived!”
You just can’t get over yourself…
I am just glad I could save your dinner party from a wine pairing nightmare.
That is all the reward I need.
WE82:
…said the moron who tortures grammar with ill-contrived sentences like:
“WarEagle82″
…Creole for “I didn’t require any education to takeover the family manure farm.”
This can’t wait for a retort, so, in keeping with the theme:
“WarEagle82″
…Esperanto for “not a single person in the history of the internet appears to have ever eff-upped the following phrase so badly:”
http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geure9z2RKwLEApkZXNyoA?p=%22you+highly+esteem+your+own+opinion%22&fr=b2ie7&fr2=sb-top&sao=1
Great, Now ZeroIntellect get’s his grammar from the internet. And I suppose Wikipedia is your main source for everything else. Makes sense…
ZeroLiteracy – Illiterate in a single language!
The fact that you don’t know enough English to recognize a sentence as a grammatically correct English sentence speaks volumes about you and your education, sport. You gotta get back to work on that GED…
ZeroGrammar – Correcting grammar when he obviously knows nothing about the subject.
The fact that you don’t understand something means you are ignorant. But in your case, stupid is a good bet too!
You really are the terror of your kindergarten!
And when you can’t think of something clever, shamelessly steal from others!
ZeroEverything. Too stupid to come up with his own gimmick since forever!
Whatever did the world do without you!
What you need is a few more years of medication and therapy.
Get over yourself!
WE82:
…clearly a better source compared to whatever you are using.
No, no, I use a 2000 year old textbook.
Regardless of whether or not it is grammatically correct it’s a still tortured, ill-contrived, and certainly not a typical rendering of the very common, “you hold your own opinion in high regard.”
“WarEagle82”
…ebonics for “5 (and counting) rapid-fire posts and not one clever flame.”
Wait. Did Chappy die and make you king of grammar?
And you wouldn’t recognize “clever” it opened up on you with a Ma Deuce!
Oh my goodness….the irony of you complaining about this is simply too sad.
A few of the many many examples of you just glomming onto someone else’s previous post.
It got along fine. Fortunately there are many people past and present that also know more about wine than you. But it is clear that I am the only saving grace for your dinner guests, at least tonight.
Go ahead. Use my wisdom. I don’t mind. Even if you will deny it here.
WE82:
No, the king of grammar searched the internet and found that you are the first person in the whole of the internet to invent that particular WarEagleism.
…if “clever” was on gun and you were TC, I’m sure “clever” would end up leveling entire villages of colored folks, non-Christians, and Yankees.
Chappy,
You are an absolute idiot. You complain when I respond when I reference your earlier posts and when I don’t! You give new meaning to the word “moron.” And you give new meaning to the world “LOSER.” Do you sit around and index all your conversations with ME! You must be the biggest “LOSER” in the ambulance-chasing community on the east coast!
Chappy is compiling a book of my retorts. And he studies them! And he has them indexed for quick recall! Chappy is my disciple!
I think I’m gonna puke! This is gut-wrenching hilarious! And he proved it right here. What a L.O.S.E.R!!!
“WarEagle82”
…pig-latin for “I.F. Y.O.U. U.S.E. C.A.P.I.T.A.L. L.E.T.T.E.R.S. A.N.D. P.E.R.I.O.D.S. I.T. M.A.K.E.S. Y.O.U.R. N.A.M.E. C.A.L.L.I.N.G. M.O.R.E. H.A.R.D.C.O.R.E.”
You clearly don’t understand the difference between referencing a previous post and copying the insult. Or you do and are just being contrary. That would not surprise me either.
Hardly. Those were just two examples that were so egregiously derivative (if not outright copying) that the were hard to forget.
Now go back to your studies Grasshopper, or I will take away your remaining half bowl of rice and demote you from Carlo Rossi to Wild Irish Rose.
For someone who counts himself as one of the more educated wine afficionados of this blog, I think you underestimate the diversity and taste of VA wines. Have you been to any vineyards in the state, especially in the Western section? You don’t need to immerse yourself in European fine wines to keep your options open.
There are some particularly good wines in Virginia. You have to actually go out there and discover them. Unfortuntely, due to the humid climate and soil type, VA can’t grow certain grapes that would add a broad variety to their wine palate.
Sometimes you actually have to take a drive somewhere to discover something new. Especially in a state that has different personalities like VA. If you’re looking for new vineyards, try those close to the Wintergreen Resort. Their whites have delicate palates that range from the dry to the sweet.
One further note: I’ve been lurking here for a few weeks since something bigger has drawn my attention elsewhere. As my husband and I have been packing up our house here in SE Virginia, I have noticed, with great hilarity, your chastisement of WE’s “pettiness.” Perhaps, you’ve overlooked some of your (and ZA’s) not so dignified rejoinders to many members of this blog.
Nah, we often overlook the ugly in both our personalities and our wine preferences. Perhaps, you should stay away from the more tanin-laden reds that hail from Portugal? They don’t go well with anything.
As to VA, while I hate the SE portion with it’s traffic conjestion and urban ghettos, I do like its Western rural corners where I’ve uncovered both historical, natural, and vintner beauties to be sure.
Search a little longer, ZeroIntellect, and you will find it is not an uncommon grammatical construct. Obviously, you have maintained a high degree of illiteracy for as long time. That may impress your Dr. Seuss reading friends but not many others in the real world.
Of course, anything but Dr. Seuss is obviously well beyond your ability. But at least you have something to aspire to!
emjem24:
If I rubbed you the wrong way and I was unfair to you I’d be happy to apologize if it’s appropriate. What did I say that bothered you?
I have no doubt that some other M.O.R.O.N.S. managed to eek out something similiar. *yawn*
…sorry second quote was from WE82.
I have been to about five vineyards for tastings (where I tried probably 6 wines each) and tried probably half a dozen others on different occasions. There have been ones that are okay, but the relative quality didn’t justify the relatively high price.
This was 5 or 6 years ago. perhaps the price to quality ratio has improved.
emjem24,
Chappy considers himself the penultimate source for all things. He knows all things and doesn’t take to anyone contradicting his opinion on anything. You have certainly earned his enmity today.
Now that he is earnestly indexing and studying my posts, as his index of my comments demonstrates, there may be some hope for him. I have my doubts as law school has certainly muddled anything atop his shoulders resembling a brain but one holds out a certain hope…
Good luck with the move. SE Virginia is as messed up as NOVA. I hope you find a nicer corner of the state.
Now don’t enmesh all Upstaters in the same mold as Chaps. Now, I think he’s borderline meaning he’s closer to the downstate region that anything.
Anyway, as a former Upstate New Yorker, I think there’s nothing of much value up there except the colleges, universities, and the bars where co-eds get their drink on every weekend. I can testify to this as someone who grew up in the drunken co-ed center of Ithaca, NY.
I think, like many “upstaters” (if Chaps is even one at all) many have declared that part of the state dead and moved on to greener pastures (or spread their snobbery somewhere else).
I have heard that the Fingerlakes is really starting to develop some nice vineyards though. I’m sure Chaps will miss that.
I don’t think you know what “penultimate” means. Or if you do, you are simply contradicting yourself. Neither would surprise me.
When they stick to the German varietals, they can be pretty good. But again, the issue is that they are too expensive for the relative quality.
And born and raised in Lowville, NY. It doesn’t get any more upstate than that.
Wow! Chappy has tasted 6 Virgina wines and declared the entire produce of the state “crap!”
You don’t get a more positive demonstration of arrogant, ignorant and elitist than that!
Chappy. French for unbearably full of himself.
No. I have tried at least 35 or so Virginia wines. Try to do some basic math.
That would require that he take off his shoes and pants.
You forgot chicken wings.
Oh, that’s right. You think you are God so obviously you consider yourself the the final source in all matters and not the next to last! What was I thinking?
Like I said, supremely arrogant.
Oh, I see. 6 * 5 equal 35 in Chappy’s world. And he has read “about 10 books.”
I’ve tasted other than the German knock-offs they produce and they’re okay. A lot of these vineyards get exposure through word of mouth and catch on. They can be expensive and they’re investing a lot of money into producing German knock-offs when they’ll never really be the same as the original.
You must count yourself lucky to no longer be an Upstater. I know I do. Lowville doesn’t seem big enough to contain you or your wine ambitions.
But DC isn’t big enough to contain his perversions.
Try again there, Grasshopper.
Chicken wings are so messy. They’re only served in the Frat houses these days.
Most college kids I’ve met over the years view chicken wings as an afterthought before, during, and after they get weekend drinking out of the way.
Tapas are in now for the more discriminating palates.
I wouldn’t say knock offs. That is like saying California Chardonnay is a knock off of Chablis because they use the same grape. The fact of the matter is that German varietals are the type that can grow in that pretty harsh environment. NY tends to the drier side of German, which is nice.
Good grief. Drunk already and you can’t remember what you said a few posts back. It’s a bit early even for you, isn’t it?
Seriously…are you capable of the slightest bit of reading comprehension?
Oh, it’s not that. It’s just that anything you say isn’t worth reading once, must less twice. I don’t index your posts the way you index mine you know…
Mom! They’re still at it!
Afterthought until you move away and try what they pass off as a Buffalo wing in other parts of the country.
Then you appreciate a good, simple wing.
WE82:
In base9, 6 * 5 = 33.
Isn’t that what you’ve been using since you lost your pinky finger during that unfortunate accident involving fireworks and moonshine? Or, do you substitute using your “3rd pinky finger?”
purealchemy:
I can’t help it. It’s hysterical. I do have to get going soon though.
Yet here we are with over 350 posts.
Yet again, your actions belie your words.
Hysterical does seem to describe you.
You assume I am READING your posts? What a waste of time. I just programmed a script to reply with random insults to any of your posts.
WE82:
1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…uh…8…uh *gazing at stumpy* uh…10
Careful or you’ll have another accident and have to change your diaper.
WE82:
LOL! that one wasn’t bad actually. It’s about time! OK, I’ll catch you guys later this evening!
I hope your guests enjoy the Rhone.
I know. Why do you think I’m still watching the show?
The only thing funnier was the teleprompter thread. That was totally over the top!
Actually tapas is so five years ago. At least.
Not sure what the hip thing is now.
Ask Frenchie. He seems to know eveything.
Being as that my husband is in the military, there will no longer be further opportunity to explore any “nicer” corners of the state. We are moving to Colorado so I don’t anticipate “willingly” moving back to VA or any other part of the Eastern seaboard.
It wasn’t an amicable split. You are correct if not as blunt as I would be. SE Virginia is a hellhole and I’ve been to NOVA and both are overcrowded as hell. I will probably see similar trends in Colorado as I’ve seen in VA- illegal aliens- if I ever go back into teaching.
I will miss the Western part of the state. The people were nice and unpretentious, the natural surrounds were scenic, and the wine was wonderful.
Good luck in your wine hunt BTW. If your meat is a chicken/fish I recommend a nice White Zinfandel (Berringer/Vendage- slightly fruity with a strawberry finish). If it’s a beef I recommend a Merlot. There’s some nice Spanish and South American wines that do nicely for the palate and are light on the budget.
I’m not the wine afficionado that Chaps is (though I learned a lot about wine as a bartender). I had the opportunity to try some red wines in Spain and France and found the Spanish had deeper notes whereas the French seemed a bit more full-bodied.
If all else fails- make some mixed drinks like Martinis or Margaritas. They’re easy to make and nobody cares what “vintage” they are!
Ha, couldn’t resist. Old bartender joke.
Bistros and gastropubs. A return to more comfort food.
Though I do love me some tapas (or mezze, or antojitos).
You know, you may be right. However, in my hometown of Ithaca, NY where some of the most pretentious people you could ever meet reside (I’m talking professors and students) anything that appeals to a discriminating palate will do. Especially if it makes you feel superior while eating/drinking it. You’d be surprised how “unindependent” some of these elitists can be.
Perhaps, the hip thing now is, believe it or not, fondue (which I think hailed from the ’70′s). Or is it sushi? I know of at least one fondue restaurant in Manitou Springs, CO (outside Colorado Springs) which my husband and I avoided like the plague. Cheese is the main item on the menue along with some secondary items. However, since my husband despises cheese, we can’t “stomach” such a place.
Some trends should never be resurrected under any circumstances.
And that includes chocolate fountains.
There are a few fondue places around here. I think it can be fun but I’ll be damned if I am going to pay to cook my own food. I bought a fondue pot and can make a better bourgonone broth to cook in.
I was thinking comfort food also and home cooking and baking as a trend. Survival food.
Not sure what a gastropub is.
Here it St. Louis, we have at least one Peruvian restaurant and a couple of Afghan kabob houses. Kabob houses aren’t new but Afghan is.
Also, that places that serves all ethnic varieties of noodles.
I can’t for the life of me understand what is so fun about fondue. I like a nice, hot cheese on my hamburger (when I eat red meat) but as a gourmet dining experience I don’t get it. I think Europe took all of the experimental gourmet dining out of me.
I’ve got a feeling crepes are due for a comeback.
Think more upscale pub food in a casual setting.
I was in St. Louis about 2 years ago. One of the things i really wanted to do was go to Smokie O’s and try the snoot. The one day I had free to do so I walked from my hotel near the arch, maybe 1.5 miles, having to zig zag across highways and feeling dead certain I was going to be mugged at any point. When I got there….closed for the day for a funeral.
That aside, my wife and I really enjoyed the city, especially the great music. We had a great meal at Eleven Eleven Mississippi. Wish we would have had a couple more days.
Not so much the cheese course, but cooking various meats and veggies in a boiling broth or oil. Many cultures have a similar thing (like a Chinese hot pot).
Mmmmm….. sounds yummy. You’re making me hungry.
I think perhaps anything Asian, like Thai or New Asian cuisine is what’s in. I’ll really miss the Thai restaurants here in SE Virginia. Ah, well- Chinese is just as good I guess.
Good perception of the safety of downtown St. Louis.
You picked a huge winner with Eleven Eleven Mississippi. Haven’t eaten there myself but know it is an A list here.
As for the music, I am always telling people, you can hear more good music for free on any given night here than probably nowhere else.
Same for food.
Best place for crepes in that day was The Magic Pan. LOVED to go there. The white sauce seafood crepe was so good, you’d dream about it.
here than probably nowhere else.
OOPS! anywhere else.

Visited those places once. Beautiful!
Good quality of life places.
Maybe I am just numbed by east coast prices, but I thought it was really reasonably priced for the quality. Our bill would have been at least $50 higher for an equivalent meal (with drinks, wine, etc…) in DC.
Bingo!
