This kind of thing will continually go on with the government ownership of these car companies. The fraudulent “President” and the politicians in Congress will constantly be changing and reversing.

I’m through with GM and Chrysler. I will never own another one of their cars until the Democrats mandate that these two companies are the only options allowed for sale in US.

If they were smart, they’d have seized on the opportunity to count the employees of the soon-to-be-unclosed dealerships among the spurious “saved jobs” Obama and Biden keep touting.

I am quite skeptical when the “yeas” include the likes of McDermott, Waxmann, Frank, Murtha, and Rangel.

Agreed, there is more to the story. I’m thinking as mentioned above, most are out to save votes next year, save face if they have one left.

The amendment sponsor was Republican Steve LaTourette of Ohio. 215 Democrats and 4 Republicans voted for the overall package

My question is what was in the overall package that lead to 170 Republicans and 38 Democrats to vote “nay”?

Reversed the closure of dealerships, many already closed???!!! I wonder if the lawmakers put that amendment in to save their hides come reelection day (while at the same time they are counting on a large % of dealerships never reopening). "We fought Obama tooth and nail to save our dealerships." Yada Yada Yada...

The White House said Wednesday it strongly opposes the measure, arguing it would “set a dangerous precedent, potentially raising legal concerns, to intervene in a closed judicial bankruptcy proceeding on behalf of one particular group.”

And yet O & Co. were quite comfortable using the phrase “sweetening the deal” when they were bullying Chrysler into their idea of bankruptcy to the the tune of 71 cents-on-the-dollar loss by creditors that had contracts guaranteeing their position at the top of the bankruptcy feeding trough.
