The Cone of Shame Awards
Ever since we saw Up, our family has made a game of giving out “Cone of Shame” awards. Thought it would make a great blog feature, too.
The inaugural award winners:

Barbara Boxer, for last week’s naked display of liberal condescension, vapidity, and tone-deafness in her “I’ve got a black person’s report right here!” rejoinder to National Black Chamber of Commerce head Harry Alford’s testimony against cap and trade.
Here’s your Cone of Shame, ma’am:

And gotta fit one on Chris Dodd, for lobbyist-bashing hypocrisy in Washington second only to Team Obama’s.

Wear it proudly, corruptocrat:

And on the other side of the aisle, one for lovesick S.C. GOP Gov. Mark Sanford — still in office penning apologies claiming God on his side, quoting scripture, and promising to be more “humble” and “contrite” while spending less time “fighting the tide.” Which appears to mean giving in to the state Legislature more often to save his political hide.

He needs a muzzle and a box of Kleenex with his Cone of Shame:

Forget the Cone Of Shame, I’d settle for the Cone Of Silence for all these rumpschwabs!
There’s 535 in congress that the cone would fit. The White House is full of these idiots too. Then we go to the state, county and city governments. My God I’m going into the cone business. That is if the government doesn’t make that illegal.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, for her comparison of North Korea, a dangerous nuclear power, to misbehaving children. From her false tears on the campaign trail in NH, to her turning the other way on Bill’s infidelity, to the apology on global warming, she sets back the progress of women, and humankind in general, by 50-100 years.
A Cone of Shame for Hillary for continuing to apologize for America.
And one for Hanoi Jane for proudly advertising her treason.
Sorry, Jones, near-simultaneous posting!
Give one to Ag Sec’y Tom
Nutsacksorry, Vilsack for his comments today…With Babs, notice she did not chastise the man for not calling her “Senator”? He called her Ma’am, same as the General. Oh, but you can’t talk to a black man the way you talk to a mere General- the black man is a protected class. Cowardly behavior- if it means so much to her she should insist everyone use it.
I nominate myself for having quietly put up with all that destructive and inane Washington BS for so many years before becoming active against it.
To compare:
Looking at this page and counting the current post, I see 5 reports on Sanford.
This Boxer video deserved its own page. It (video) should be played over and over – quite telling as to how condescending the dems are to African Americans.
Dodd is scum.
I would like to see a photoshop of these recipients with cones on their heads.
Goldman Sachs, for short selling the American people.
“Financial firms, we now know, directed vast quantities of capital into the construction of unsellable houses and empty shopping malls. They increased risk rather than reducing it, and concentrated risk rather than spreading it. In effect, the industry was selling dangerous patent medicine to gullible consumers.”
“Goldman, famously, made a lot of money selling securities backed by subprime mortgages — then made a lot more money by selling mortgage-backed securities short, just before their value crashed. All of this was perfectly legal, but the net effect was that Goldman made profits by playing the rest of us for suckers.”
“The bottom line is that Goldman’s blowout quarter is good news for Goldman and the people who work there. It’s good news for financial superstars in general, whose paychecks are rapidly climbing back to precrisis levels. But it’s bad news for almost everyone else.”
Definitely Vilsack
Obama gets one for being Obama
I nominate Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.
Does anyone need an explanation?
Give Barney Frank a lavender cone.
Sen. Dan Akaka (D)-Hawaii for still trying to shove the Native Hawaiian Bill up our hausepipe.
Give it up, Senator! Jeez….
Nancy Pelosi for calling the CIA liars then could not back her claim up….
I thought of about 20 more, not enough time and I know many will be covered by the posters here anyway.
One each for every fool who voted for Hope-a-Dope last November.
One each for every fool who voted for Al “The Clown” Franken.
– Oh, the heck with it: forget about silly “cones,” public floggings are more in order.
Ooops, hawsepipe, not hausepipe.
Nautical spelling trumps anatomical.
Henry Waxman and Barney Frank – need I say more?
I nominate former Congresswoman, and 2008 Green Party presidential candidate, Cynthia McKinney, for her tireless efforts to violate Israeli sovereignty and run the Gaza blockade.
Let’s not forget Bill O’Reilly..he gets one.
No..wait a minute…dunce hat for bill.
Sorry, I’m cranky – I went to the dentist today and my face hurts!
John Ensign and every other Republican that besmirches the Party.
Hangfire
Until you corrected your spelling, I thought I was going to have to take a little slack out of your towline.
Here is one off the wall one.
One for each of the awol/pow/deserters entire immediate NCO chain of command for not recognizing a soldier going off the deep end.
A good NCO chain of command should have prevented this.
Thats 3, fire team leader, squad leader, and platoon sergeant.
You beat me to (iron)Boxer.
But I’ll always think the King of Cones as Al Gore.
How about one each for the DNC, Election Commission, state Secretaries of State, and Electoral College electors for not verifying BHO’s eligibility before voting him in.
Mondays suck, what can I say?
Actually, I think those two should get the Kang and Kodos award.
I’d hang one on Ron Paul for calling Palin supporters “country club Republicans”. What a cheap, dishonest shot.
Not only did he violate Reagan’s 11th Commandment (which Sarah has never done), but he proved himself to be a player by putting politics ahead of country.
Are these cones made of re-cyclable material?
definitely a yes on that suggestion…
maybe a cone for two on that one?? or maybe a special one for Barney on the other end??
Arlen Specter and Jim Jeffords for screwing over the people that voted them into office.
I think that would be called a ‘funnel’, and….um, ew.
Oh and don’t forget Murtha.
Bush, for abandoning free market principles to ’save’ the free market.
JOHN MCCAIN!!!!
Cone of shame for Pelosi for declaring that Cap and Tax was about “jobs, jobs, and more jobs”.
I guess she meant it in the same way that “flammable” and “inflammable” mean the same thing even though they sound like opposites.
BTW, I recommend a special category for the Cone of Shame awards for “Don’t call me ma’am” incidents. I would call the “Raymond J. Johnson Jr” awards.
“You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, or you can call be Ray J.,….”
How about Gary Locke, who thinks we should pay for China’s emissions?
Screw that!
I’d say most likely 98% plus should have cones. There are a few good people in congress, but not many.
If he is going to open his mouth, he should at least be accurate.
… so many choices and and so little time to award them all!
and…I realize I put in too many ‘and’(s) in my last post.Sanford’s would need to have drain holes at the bottom so he didn’t drown on his own crocodile tears.
I was thinking the exact same thing…something about needing a funnel to find his – you know. It would be dual-purposed, so that would satisfy Hangfire’s recyclability question…
I’m going in to see the dentist tommorrow, so I feel for you.
Isn’t Murtha the latest exhibit at Jurassic Park III?
I like Bill Engvall’s idea of signs.
Washington would be full of people with signs around their necks.
Cone of shame for Sen Boxer? Not too sure about that.
Sen Boxer did not say the following -
“I’ve got a black person’s report right here!”
Sen Boxer, actually said the following -
” . . . then we’re gonna put the NAACP resolution that passed saying . . . ”
I understand the intent, yet it would have been more honest to have offered a qualification stating that “Sen Boxer could have made the statement, “I’ve got a black person’s report right here!” the way she introduced the NAACP document.”
Or, “Sen Boxer seems to be saying, “I’ve got a black person’s report right here!” when she introduced the NAACP document.”
As presented, one can believe that those were her actual words. Because quotations were used.
Moreover, Sen Boxer wanted other documents put into the record, too. Including other documents that had nothing to do with race.
One of my all-time favorites Bill Engvall “signs” is when he arrived at an airport and discovered his luggage was lost. At the counter, the airline employee asked him,
THERE is someone who needed to have a sign!
um, zyz…it was very obvious that she meant for it to be very racially provocative (to be diplomatic about it). She just got called on it. The astute gentleman didn’t need anyone’s help deciphering her condescension.
yeah yeah zigzag, kinda like “I can see Russia from my house”
Is there a Cone big enough to cover DC, around a Beltway size. The we could fill it with… (Add Suggestions Here)
How about Romney for destroying the health care system in Massachusetts as has been recently revealed.
Is it being insinuated that Sarah Palin said this? It’s my understanding that the quote came from a SNL skit with Tina Fey as Palin.
I wish that whenever that idiot Sanford spoke, I could find a cone of silence to hide in.
Tina Fey = Bizarro Sarah Palin
I saw it; her Attorney had to come in over her shoulder and whisper how deep she had stepped in it.
She was totally condescending as elitists are want to do, and didn’t realize how deep she was in. She’s not very good at running retreat.
She really is a ‘Maroon’, after all.
gotta go with the MSM…
just add some duct tape to inhibit the truth and/or a muzzle and some dark obamablinders.
No, it is not. but most libtard moron dumba$$ voters 08′ think she did.
Yup. A lot of misconceptions about Sarah Plain from 08 to today. And she’s not the only one from the election to be lied about and trashed by both sides.
Michelle Obama – the yellow dress with giant green plastic water-squirting-looking flower…
OK, a fashion cone of shame is pretty mild, I know…
not the end I was thinking about but close….
Well the first person who popped into my mind was Madame Speaker, the cone of shame does it come with a muzzle
Concrete. That is the least toxic of the substances that came to mind and would be least likely to have any deleterious environmental impact.
ECS
Did you see Sen Boxer mention the Pew Study, and then after dust up, Exxon? The guy had no problem with the Pew Study or Exxon being placed in the record.
The guy is a Rev Sharpton wannabe. He, like the Rev Sharpton, looks for insults even in the most ridiculous and mundane circumstances.
In fact he was hot to trot before Sen Boxer mentioned the NAACP. Did you see the exchange about where he lived and being from California? That exchange was not helpful.
It could have been settled by one of them taking a deep breath, instead of interrupting one another, and stating that the he was from California, born and bred, and now lives in Maryland. Well, he did say something to that effect, but there was no deep breath, no pause to absorb the statement, because they continued to interrupt one another. He even volunteered that he was in California before Sen Boxer lived there. Not helpful.
He added that he has property in California that he pays taxes on. Why? Was he trying to defend himself because he may have believed Sen Boxer was attempting to challenge his Californian bona fides?
Sen Boxer said this was a ‘freindly’ exchange and the guy seemed bothered, if not agitated, as if he had been at this hearing for ten straight hours without a bathroom break. I got the sense the guy was ready to pop.
Not seen on the linked clip, but it was alluded to, was the mention of jobs. Sen Boxer challenged him to come to California to see the jobs. Maybe the guy took issue because he thought she was calling him a liar.
Nope. Mr Alford was ready to call the Liz Taylor movie ‘National Velvet’ racist because the horse was black.
Yep, this guy is a Rev Sharpton wannabe.
I beleive Sarah said, You can see Russia from here. Here meaning Alaska, which is true of course. There is a an island off the coast of Alaska and you can see Russia’s coastline from there. I saw it on tv myself. In fact , I think it freezes over in winter and you can walk from that Island to Russia.
Liberals don’t let the truth get in the way
Nope. What was obvious, was Mr. Alford’s demeanor. The exchange between Sen Boxer and him, began poorly from the very beginning. He was ready to pop for any slight, real or imagined, no matter how small.
Focus on the conversation leading up to the NAACP comment. Do you think the guy was in a pleasant mood?
When you get right down to it – there aren’t more than a small handful of politicians in this country at ANY level – local, state, or federal – who are in the game as a “public service.” It’s all about them, the percs, and the power over other people. Nothing more, nothing less.
I nominate my scumbag congress-loon Jesse Jackson Jr. for spear-heading the House’s “tribute” to Michael Jackson.
I also nominate him because he’s a useless leftist “donkey”.
Commerce Secretary Gary Locke for suggesting we pay for China’s carbon emissions.
AlGore for his gross stupidity on man-caused global warming (it’s a hoax).
VP Joe Biden for…oh, so many choices!…for suggesting we need to spend our way out of bankruptcy.
And the list could go on indefinitely…
And I really like that cone of silence option, too.
sonia sotomayor, al gore, msm, geithner, all senators, and most congresspeople, rahm emmanuel, michelle obama, kim jung il, hill-billy clinton, the list is nearly endless.
zyz–why are you defending Boxer? She’s the moron here.
The businessman in question was irritated because of the nature of the meeting. He’s the one who stands to lose. He doesn’t need Boxer telling him to be a good little boy & agree with the other folks of the same color.
As Barney likes to call it, a FUNnel! And likewise, ick, eeeewwww, and a yeesh on the side!
Babs Boxer-who only thinks she worked hard to become a Senator-for stating black people would be PROUD Her Snottiness mentioned them in the Senate. What a patronizing tool.
As far as Chris Dodd and the Carolina Wanderer–we put cones on dogs after the ugly operation–those two could use it. Don’t be opening those wounds er boys?
Sheila Jackson Lee? She needs to get her rabies shot updated
Y’know, it’d be quicker if we just made a list of the people who shouldn’t get a cone. We’d be done way before lunch!
We’re going to need something bigger than a cone.
A gold rhinestone studded cone for Ted Kennedy on this the 40th anniversary of his olympic swim at Chappiquidick
New York Democrat Carolyn Maloney for dropping the N-bomb in an interview. She and barbara Boxer have much to discuss.
To go with that phony neck brace he wore.
da..dum..da..dum..
“You’re gonna need a bigger cone..,um..,boat.”‘
—Sheriff Brody, Jaws
I FINALLY saw a DU posting today reagrding the confrontation between Boxer and Mr. Alford’s of the Black Chamber of Commerce. While I might argue the need for a “Black” Chamber of Commerce, he was absolutely correct in taking her to task. To the DUmmies however, he was everything from a ***hole to a “Republican” (Shocking!) For daring to question her he was reviled, which I did not find to be a big surprise.
I am not defending Sen Boxer. I am making observations.
I don’t know why Mr. Alford was irritated, but I am glad that you agree, that he was in fact irritated. And, irritated before Sen Boxer produced the NAACP document.
BTW, what does Mr. Alford stand to lose? And, Sen Boxer never said he should agree, or disagree, with anything. Did she?
Has anyone mentioned John Edwards? Just reminded myself of what he did for the cost of medicine with his lawsuits saying that OB’s caused cerebral palsy. Resulted in marked increase in c-sections with no decrease in the percentage of babies born with cerebral palsy. He kept the money and ran for president. Put his cone on upside down so we can’t see his face.
Mytake – YES! I love your upside down cone idea….so many idiots who qualify, so little time.
