The more he talks about nationalizing health care and spending more money…

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 20, 2009 09:59 AM

…the lower his poll numbers go.

Down, down, down.

Heading into a critical period in the debate over health-care reform, public approval of President Obama’s stewardship on the issue has dropped below the 50 percent threshold for the first time, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll…

…Since April, approval of Obama’s handling of health care has dropped from 57 percent to 49 percent, with disapproval rising from 29 percent to 44 percent. Obama still maintains a large advantage over congressional Republicans in terms of public trust on the issue, even as the GOP has closed the gap…

…Obama’s approval rating on his handling of the deficit is down to 43 percent, as independents now tilt toward disapproval (42 percent approve; 48 percent disapprove). More broadly, 55 percent of Americans put a higher priority on holding the deficit in check than on spending to boost the economy, compared with 40 percent who advocate additional outlays even if it means a sharply greater budget shortfall. This is a big shift from January, when a slim majority preferred to emphasize federal spending.

How will they spin this?

Support for new spending is tempered by flagging confidence on Obama’s plan for the economy. Fifty-six percent are confident that his programs will reap benefits, but that is down from 64 percent in March and from 72 percent just before he took office six months ago. More now say they have no confidence in the plan than say they are very confident it will work. Among independents and Republicans, confidence has decreased by 20 or more points; it has dropped seven points among Democrats.

All that splurging on sliced ham and doors ain’t helping.

***

I smell book-cooking

The White House is being forced to acknowledge the wide gap between its once-upbeat predictions about the economy and today’s bleak landscape.

The administration’s annual midsummer budget update is sure to show higher deficits and unemployment and slower growth than projected in President Barack Obama’s budget in February and update in May, and that could complicate his efforts to get his signature health care and global-warming proposals through Congress.

The release of the update – usually scheduled for mid-July – has been put off until the middle of next month, giving rise to speculation the White House is delaying the bad news at least until Congress leaves town on its August 7 summer recess.

What he DOESN’T want is everyone looking at it closely and realizing how bad it really is for Americans.

The Senator is beginning to show singns of tension after facing a number of protests over cap and trade and health care. He almost daily publicizes some aspect of the porkulous that is being spent in the area. I call him the pide piper of porkulous.

He is a freshman Senator and will abide by the Democratic leadership, but he goes beyond that to being an Obama cheer leader.

The Tea Party people are getting more organized in the area and have had two rallies that were a thousand people or more. That is a large number of people for this small University town.

The Governer’s race is leaning Republican and things are beginning to turn around in the Virginia.

Being out of session for a month should give all of our elected representatives plenty of time to hold one or more Townhall meetings in their districts to find out how their constituents really feel about the issues they are voting on.

If our Reps know that they will have to face their constituents in person to explain their votes, perhaps they will think more clearly about the votes they make in the House and the Senate!

When you get a date and time for the Townhall meeting in your district, please let us all know so we can help to spread the word to insure large attendence!

Don’t get to feeling too confident, remember, the congressional clowns don’t care what “We the People” think!

Conservatives need a lobbyist. It’s time to turn from our elected representaives, and get paid representation. Seriously. Congress turns off the phones, ignores email, couldn’t care less what constituents think – it’s time to buy their votes. There are enough of us that could donate, we just need a focused organization – a K Street firm – to present our point of view. Reelection donations to follow. Party is immaterial, it’s the votes that count.

    really, really BAD NON-HEALTH CARE

Unending TV commercials filmed in Canada, the UK and France showing people waiting for hours in an emergency room with broken bones, then being sent home and told to come back, interviews with relatives of those who died waiting months for emergency surgery…30 – 60 seconds long and on shows that people watch…

    Maybe I wasn’t clear – the commercials should be a conservative strategy…

AG: Fox and Friends had a piece on this morning where someone from PJTV took a concealed camera into the Canadian health system. Good, SCARY stuff!

I found a little blurb at Tea Party Nation (TPN)that Obama will use the Budget Reconciliation Process in order shove this Healthcare takeover down our throats. In doing so a 60 vote filibuster-proof majority is not required.
And it may explain why Obama has not relased a budget update as is the norm. (!?!?)

TPN doesn’t have any references, but it got me to thinking…I would not put it past the Dems to do it.

Do NOT get overconfident that this will not be pushed upon us.

Anyone with more insight into how they could go about doing this through Reconcilation?

I find it interesting that when it looks like the nation is taking a conservative turn…..the Stock Market keeps going up. If and when we’re able to stop cap and trade, health care, card check and some of the other crap…..this economy might revive. But if it does….Obama will have had nothing to do with it (reviving).

In the past I have never hestitated to vote a third party if I felt he was the better candidate. Not this time. I will not risk putting this dumba@ back in the white house. No way, nadda, not happening, forget about it.

    I loath him that much!

The more he talks about nationalizing health care and spending more money…the lower his poll numbers

Rather odd–he is NOT doing anything he did not tell the people he was going to do-not at all. People are so dumb they thought healthcare was going to pay for itself? A more efficient-cost effective stranglehold on our lives would be more acceptable? If they put felt in that collar around our neck would that be acceptable?

America is waking up? Right AFTER she sold herself like some common whore; I am not impressed. We were told there would be healthcare reform-we were told there would be a redistribution of wealth-we were told energy costs would be deliberately raised-coal plants shut, oil and gas exploration curtailed and our Constitution shredded as a mere Bill of Negative Rights.

America was told this by Obama himself repeatedly–and now they are waking up–somehow I do not feel relieved. We gave ourselves the choice of the Fascist Obama or the Fascist ObamaLite/McCain and now Obama has the power and Congress–America: we have a problem.

    Resistance is mandatory.

I’ll vote my principles and conscience, thank you very much! I will never again be a GOP buttplug, but you go right ahead!

That’s fine, but don’t complain when the Obama’s from the other side win and tell you bend over and play catcher. You’ll wish you had a buttplug to keep the huge liberal cock out of your ass.

My my, too much in house hostility-find a candidate to support and do so–House, Senate whatever. There are plenty of fascist/statist/liberals/trolls to hate–let’s not get on each other.

If ObamaLiteMcCain had of won he would have pushed Cap and Tax, Stimulus,Tarp,Carp and a variation of Healthcare REFORM(I hate that term). I voted for the SOB, sent him money and all that good horsepitstuff. I could have just banged my head into the wall and saved a buck.

Try to change the party, go third party whatever–but let not CONSERVATIVES go after each other. HATE A LIBERAL–IT’S FUN.
