Unshocked by Gary Locke

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 20, 2009 07:04 AM

Flashback: Locke with Chinese president Hu Jintao.

I reported extensively on former Washington state governor Gary Locke’s extensive China ties, conflicts of interest, and questionable judgments– all documented well before Locke “sailed through” his confirmation hearing with help from apathetic or clueless Republican senators.

Now comes word from Shanghai, via the WSJ, that Gary Locke said Americans “need to pay” for China’s carbon emissions:

“It’s important that those who consume the products being made all around the world to the benefit of America — and it’s our own consumption activity that’s causing the emission of greenhouse gases, then quite frankly Americans need to pay for that,” Commerce Secretary Gary Locke told the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.

Ed Morrissey has more.

I don’t want to hear any complaints in the Senate — especially from you, Sen. Hutchinson — about how Locke’s China pandering is going to hurt American businesses and taxpayers.

You were warned. And you were too “bored” to do anything about it.

***

You can find all the dirt on Locke in one handy place in Culture of Corruption…coming July 27.

The GOP didn’t stand up to this appointment, but why would they? The country just bought the entire agenda from the Democrats and told the GOP to take a break.

It really sucks being in a filibuster-less minority, but this is life for a while. Thank goodness the democrats seem hell-bent on squandering their majority faster than found money.

So nice to see so many supposedly intelligent people in Washington have no problem with this.

…so Gore can feel important, yet North Dakota recently had 39 degrees and here in Wisconsin, we had the coldest day in July since 1900.

Yes it does-but the far bigger problem is the cowardliness of our so call GOP Senators-all too many of the fools will not even TRY to stop a Gary Locke, Sotomayor, Cap and Trade and all the other Fascist/Statist schemes and things coming at us. These “GOP” people roll over for the Obaminites hoping for a belly rub and pat on the head in the name of “moderation”-now we go into the 2010 election cycle so why should anyone vote for them? If all they are going to be is Leftist Lite why should the voters not just vote Leftist or stay home? That is EXACTLY what these “moderate” fools and cowards are telling the voters.

Yes Gary Locke is a Leftist traitor, maybe a crook. But the Go Along-Get Along Republicans are the bigger traitors and must be put out to pasture-AT BEST. The whole “greenhouse gases-carbon control-global warming” non-sense is but a tool in the fascist/leftist bag and often a profitable scam- and the GOP Moderates are but useful tools themselves. That Gary Locke is a “questionable appointments by BO” is a given-Obama IS a Marxist/racialist and anyone truly following his books and speeches should have no problem figuring that out. But the GOP Moderates are our more immediate threat.

Here is Arizona knocking off the Maverick Mac has become job one-others do your best. Submission to Master Obama and gang is NOT an option.

Incremental changes don’t stop the rolling socialist tide!

I suppose if the Chinese manufacturers were to make efforts to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, the costs of doing so would be added on to the products we consume.

This is the only realistic way that we should pay for any Chinese reduction in emissions. The US providing and paying for any equipment is simply out of the question.

The approach that has more wisdom would be how to get the Chinese to do emissions controls themselves, and then explain to the American people why the costs of consumer products is increasing.

Nope. Sec Locke’s statement was overly simplistic and proven by the release of a correction at the bottom of the linked WSJ article.

Funny, because the road work started long before the stimulus bill was passed. I guess every improvement everywhere will be attributed to the stimulus. Great.
