Politician claims Obamacare saves. Voters laugh out loud

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 21, 2009 05:37 PM

Best video of the day: Rep. Russ Carnahan meets the government health care takeover resistance.

My favorite parts? Well, all of it. But especially when Carnahan tries to tell the audience that Obamacare will create “efficiencies” and a “surplus” and when constituent Kevin Jackson asks:

“If it’s so good, why doesn’t Congress have to be on it?”

I wish this question, among others, was being asked more often in the media.

I’d settle for any critical questioning, come to think of it.

Strange that you only hear these questions in local venues when the video is posted on YouTube.

Calling it Socialized Medicine is falling on deaf ears, but you tell them that Congress is exempting themselves from it, and they start to get it. There are too many who don’t realize the implication of socialism, but the lowest common denominator can relate to the idea of “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander” and what it means when they don’t want it for themselves.

There will be a point when these Obama followers won’t be able to speak confidently about their leader’s fascist activities anymore. When 2012 rolls around, unemployment rate is still in high-teens (if not twenties) in many states, inflation has destroyed our currency, and there is no end to the panic and crisis, even these two won’t be able to vocally support THE ONE anymore.

2012. Unfortunately, Obama is likely to benefit from the same kind of natural bounce to the economy FDR got in 1936.

Yes, Obama is inflicting even more long term damage to the economy and the society than FDR was doing, but the FED is acting much better than it was in the early 1930′s, and the global economy is much different.

So I continue to have no hope. Even just four years of Obama and the Democrat Congress running amok is likely to destroy us, given their ability to inextricably entangle us with ‘international agreements’ destructive to America (on top of the obvious internal destruction). Eight years wouldn’t leave any doubt of our destruction at all.

The only solution is the Dissolution of the Republic. After all, do New Yorkers really want to be in the same country as Texas, Wyoming and Alaska?? Sure doesn’t seem like it.

If we stay as one country, the collectivists will surely win. Hell, they have ALREADY won. Electing Obama was flat out insane. An electorate that could be so easily convinced by the MSM to do something that obviously suicidal can be convinced to do anything at all.

To them, it doesn’t matter if a family has lived and built their communities for decades and even centuries, and have lived and died for them.

They believe that illegal interlopers have the SAME rights as my family, who have lived here since before the American Revolution. So, if people who have NO concept of freedom, liberty, and community decency come to my town and and demand that we live according to THEIR barbaric lifestyles, the liberal will always side with the interloper.

That is apparently clear in this legislation. It was made with them in mind, not the citizen.

Exactly. If Obama and Pelosi had said the plan would reduce health costs to zero, cover every single person in the world and actually result in a surplus of 6 trillion dollars he would gladly swallow it, go out and repeat it and expect that everybody else swallow it whole too, as so much of the public and press has with other Dem lies for the past 30 years. The Carnahans…Missouri’s family of politicians…

Son of Mel Carnahan, deceased (via plane crash) Missouri governor and Jean Carnahan, former U.S. Senator.
Sister is Robin Carnahan current Missouri Secretary of State.

Voters see Carnahan on the ballot and lose the old ‘Show Me’ spirit. Maybe not next go round thanks to MM etc…

It’s crazy for a group of mere mortals to try to design 15 percent of the U.S. economy. It’s even crazier to do it by August.

Yet that is what some members of Congress presume to do. They intend, as the New York Times puts it, “to reinvent the nation’s health care system”.

Let that sink in. A handful of people who probably never even ran a small business actually think they can reinvent the health care system.

    John Stossel http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/07/22/arrogance_97561.html

Sometimes, it helps to just step back and regain perspective.

    Stossel is great at that.

Think of it: 15% of our economy, and every aspect of our lives, being “re-invented” by the bumblers of the collective.

    That cannot be allowed.

Well, I must confess that as I watch idiots like Carahan, in the back of my mind I hear the gentle voice of John Wayne repeating over and over,

“Life is tough. It’s tougher when you’re stupid.”

That and Animal Mother from Full Metal Jacket,

you have to understand who russ carnahan is to fully get the irony. russ and his sister who is mo. sec of state, are the children of our famous dead senator, gov carnahan. in 2000, gov carnahan was running for a senate seat, died in a plane crash a month before the election, couldn’t be removed from the ballot, so a deal was made that if he was elected, his wife would be appointed to his seat by the then acting dem governor.he did, and she was, lasted 2 years because she was a bucket of hair, and this simpathy vote launched the careers of his 2 dimwitted children. russ has a gerrymandered democrat congressional seat made up primarily of white union workers, and just last week had to try to stomp the fire of a famous bakery business in his district placing a huge add on their sign asking russ why he voted to put them out of business (cap and tax bill). so in the space of about 3 weeks, russ has had his head handed to him by his constituents twice. mo. has been a consistent presidential winner bellweather state for over 100 years, having only missed voting for the eventual winner twice, once for adleigh stevenson (illinois favorite son) and this last election john mccain. so while we sometimes vote for dead people, we don’t get fooled by community organizers. maybe we’re just racist as lgm would say, but st louis county has a black ceo, as does kansas city.

The poor sap actually thought the whole world would give him a free pass because of the D after his name.

It’s been said (or hinted at) a couple of times in this thread, but it bears repeating: The only reason Rusty Carnahan is in office is because of who his daddy was, and the sympathy vote. And, frankly, I don’t think it’s going to matter how many toes he steps on among his constituents, he’s representing a St. Louis district – where they’ll do anything to make sure the D on the ballot wins.

Even worse, his sister, who is our current secretary of state (and who successfully got voter ID requirements thrown out in a court case), is running for Kit Bond’s soon to be vacant Senate seat. I fear the Carnahan legacy will put her in that job, and MO will have not one, but two Obama sycophants “representing” us in DC.

absolutely…its just like detroit…keep voting dem…and ACORN is strong in KC and STL…so there is little doubt who will win the next senate race in MO…

Is this the same Jerry Nadler who claimed to detect a “whiff of fascism” coming from the GOP in the 2000 presidential recount battle? He’s clearly capable of ignoring a “whiff of fascism” when it comes up for a vote in Congress.

Ha! That ain’t no “whiff of fascism” coming out of DC these days. It’s a stench. And you know how it is, when you’re neck deep in s***, you no longer realize it stinks.
