“It’s better to have a product based on quality and thoughtfulness rather than try to jam something through.”
Sez Harry Reid now in his announcement that there will be no health care takeover bill until after the August recess:
Gee, if only they had that attitude before they jammed through all the bailouts, the porkulus, and the House cap and tax bill!

Never too late to evolve.
LOL. I’d see this as a reaction to the President’s address not doing much to settle the nerves of the country over this bill, not that he’s suddenly very thoughtful.
If anything, this is just a power play that one might expect from Reid or Pelosi to try and gain some political leverage on an increasingly unpopular bill.
Sounds like a way to defuse the situation for now and wait till “THEY” forget about it and then push it through.
An ill wind blows for Dear Leader…
Quality and thoughtfulness in Congress? Well, this is an idea. Let’s try this.
As Rags has been proclaiming – Now is the time to be extra vigilant…”they” may just be planning to morph the bill into something else. Incrimentalism still is quite possible.
Now they’re back-pedaling from what they’ve been peddling, as they piddle away their majority.
The decline has started.
I am calling my congress man, I want my copy of the health care map. The Dems say that mailing it would be against house rules… Wonder why?
Yep, and it applies to many many things that the Congress has done.
I would like to add, legislation that is passed late in the evening, or things like pay raises that are passed with a voice vote.
“Health care” is going on the shelf next to “amnesty for illegals” until the next crisis or death of a famous self-destructive star occurs to create a cover for a vote out of the public eye. MJ can you come back and die again?
Thank you.
Incrementalism is THE MOST dangerous prospect now.
They will live or die on this hill.
translation: “we don’t have the votes to ram this through, but we will keep on trying.”
As I said on another thread…
This Congress could very possibly throw Obama under his bus. He is only there for 4 or 8 years. Congress, however, can potentially have lifetime jobs. So they may want to save their jobs by jumping off the bandwagon for this travesty of a bill.
All these dc bunch will probably hi-tail it out of the country on ‘fact finding’ missions, at taxpayers expense, to keep from answering questions in their home states. Things have not gone well for those who have gotten before the citizens at meetings.
L
I’m betting that as the populace buys more pitchforks and torches, Pelosi and Reid will “kick out” of the wave of Obamamania with increased frequency.
They have to protect their phoney-baloney jobs.
Harummph!
Although I’m not at all confrontational, I did look at my reps’ town hall schedules (although none have any scheduled in August) and planned to go and ask tough questions the complacent media won’t. I think if your rep does have a TH during the break, you need to go and make yourself heard. I’d also like them to publish the bill so we can all read it! While they are on vacation, we can be reviewing, responding, organizing and defending!
As we say in the backwater where I live:
No $#it Sherlock!
I have a feeling that quote will come back to bite Dingey Harry.
FNC — 76% say fixing the economy more import than Government takeover of healthcare. Only 12% think healthcare should be first.
To: Leget #14
And that is precisely why we need to make sure there is a Town Hall meeting in every single Congressional district during the August recess!
Call your Congressional Representative and both of your Senators to find out when the Town Hall meeting is scheduled for your district.
Before anybody votes on the health care reform bill, all Congresspeople and Senators have a duty to read and understand the bill well enough to explain the details to their constituents and to answer questions about the bill.
We need to make sure our elected representatives are doing the job we elected them to do!
Let’ hear it for the Blue Dogs! I hope the GOP conservatives are learning something from this. Fight the leadership!
Go Sarah!
LOL *someone* is gonna get wished to the cornfield…
Does this mean that Reid has destroyed Obama’s presidency? I hope someone asks Barry.
Be vigilant. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a vote on this at 2AM tomorrow night, once the masses are lulled back into the usual somnambulism.

Well, they are too late. Way too late!!
reid is doing badly in his re-election bid…this is political theater and him trying to look good for his voters…he suddenly hasn’t changed his stripes…watch the other hand folks…watch the other hand….
Should read “It’s better to pass this bill after the people have a chance to forget about it rather than risk losing my reelection in 2010″.
“The surge has failed. The war is lost.”
Credibility you can believe in.
Michael Jackson: “We all would just jam in the bed.”
My thoughts exactly…too bad for our congresscritters that American Idol doesn’t start again till January…
This upsets Obama’s timetable. His plan is a total socialist takeover as soon as possible, before the public realizes what has happened, and long before the next elections. His “coup” has been delayed. Very risky, Reid. I guess he thinks that the public, once figured as dumb, will stay dumb.
September is the beginning of the 2010 re-election campaigning season for these congressmen. It was critical to Obama that this bill pass before the August recess. It would be suicidal for the Blue Dogs to try campaigning while voting in support of nationalized health care.
Pay attention GOP House conservatives. Many of those Blue Dog seats used to Republican seats. Conservative trumps party affiliation.
Go Sarah!
I called my congressmans office,Delahunt , to see if he would be making any public appearances. No, she said, .I replied gee, don”t you think it is important with a bill of this magnitude to get feedback from his constituents….(La Raza ?)
She took my name , I also said if they pass this and give health care to 20 million illegal aliens I will stop paying taxes!. I don’t care if they do lock me up…Enough is enough of these treasonous country killers!
Rogue! Please don’t start an evolution with the first post!
The only reason he’s saying that is because he knows it’s not happening before the recess.
Given the opportunity, he would have tried to jam it through. He is being completely dishonest…. as is typical for Reid.
Reid is up for election this cycle and is trying to sound like he represents Nevada now.
He even voted for the cross state concealed carry issue.
Only because he knew it would fail but it gives him a sound bite to feed the voters back home
To recycle an old joke… I saw Reid on the television “Hello,” he lied.
Obamacare will pass within 24 hrs. of when Ted Kennedy croaks. It will be his last slap in the face of America.
#36 & 37 you both have Reid pegged …any move he makes now is to paint a facade trying to convince Nevadans(?) he is not the liberal wacko that he is.
Out with the swine in 2010.
Actually, I expect Ted to croak within 24 hours of the death of Obamacare. He’ll probably murder Dodd as his last act.
And if that wouldn’t be the very definition of poetic justice then I don’t know what is.
Have all attempts to penalize health care industry abuses, frivolity, wastefulness, and excessive and complicated administration been exhausted? Nationalizing the system, which will make things even more complicated no matter what the president tells us, should be the absolutely last thing to do. We’re not allowing the industry to reform itself. Health care needs a good kick in the pants, but not at the cost of a free market takeover. Start over, Washington.
And the Patriot Act, and Military Commissions, and Bush’s stimulus, and Medicare Prescriptions….
…and Sarbanes Oxley.
There will be a rally opposing the health care takeover at the state capitol in Denver on Tuesday the 28th, 11:30 a.m.
The BHO Whitehouse is chock full of open-borders people, influencing every decision, so they will not wait long. And the HC debacle
wasis to be the method of mass control, so it is not likely to go away. Treat it like a monster in a typical horror flick, that keeps rising from the dead to torment its victims. You only don’t have to worry about it after the movie is over (2012 or 2016).http://pewglobal.org/reports/display.php?ReportID=264
When I care about all what of the countries our ancestors left because they were so screwed up think, I will let you know.
When I start flying the UN Flag on Memorial Day, I will give a rat’s rear.
Why was 2001 left out? Kinda’ suspicious.
We have a waiting period on purchase of a gun, why not for these ginormous pieces of crap our congressional criminals keep churning out?
It took Hussein months to pick out the presidential pooch, but we have to ram through healthcare reform in just a few days?
There should be a 7 day online posting period of the final draft of any bill before a floor vote is allowed. Any changes to the bill after it’s posted should be posted online, which would reset the 7 day clock.
I hope that simple-minded Americans don’t cool down on this issue during the recess. Contrariwise, Americans should crank up the heat on these disgusting politicians NON-STOP, everyday, all day, while on recess.
Please don’t be lulled into a false sense that Obamacare is mortally wounded: It’s not!!
Here in Dallas we had a counter protest to the pro-Obamacare one that Moveon.org had organized at the office of Sen. John Cornyn. The numbers were about 10 (200) to 1 (20 max) against Moveon.org. They did schedule a closed door meeting with some of the staff of the Senator in Conference Room A of the building that he has his office in. I don’t watch SRM news casts so I don’t know if any of this was on the news here in Dallas. The work was sponsored by Carrollton Tea Party and Marisa Marshall.
It appears that the problem with employer provided health care has always been the same thing.
The requirement to actually have a job
For those who refuse to work in the capitalist system this goes against the grain.
So naturally we must force the rest of society to fund these folks. You see they want the same coverage as someone who actually pays for it, they just do not want pay for it.
