Dallas Tea Party activists outflank MoveOn at Obamacare protest
I told you how impressed I was on July 4 with the energy, organization, and commitment of the Dallas Tea Party movement.
They are fired up and showing how grass-roots activists are making a powerful and sustained impact in their neighborhoods.
Check this out from the Dallas Observer: How a Local Rally For Obama’s Health Care Proposal Turned Into a Rally Against It
Local MoveOn.org members had penciled in on today’s schedule a protest in front of Senator John Cornyn’s Spring Valley Road office, during which they had hoped to pressure the senator to support President Barack Obama’s public health care legislation. But when Paula Anderson, a MoveOn.org member and spokeswoman, showed up at 11:30 a.m., she found another contingent had beat her to the proverbial punch: A large number of Dallas Tea Party members were already set up, voicing their opposition to the proposal.
Anderson was stunned: “We really did not expect them to show up.” She estimated the crowd at about 130. “From our perspective we took names of everyone there, and we had about 30 people,” she told Unfair Park. “And I would assume they maybe had 100.” As it turned out, according to Jessica Sandlin, Cornyn’s Texas press secretary, Tea Party-hearties also showed up to health-care legislation rallies in Austin and in San Antonio; after the jump, you’ll find a statement from the senator concerning the day’s events.
Meanwhile, the person who organized the opposition in Dallas, one Q Coleman, a Tea Party member, estimated the crowd swelled to at least 200. “The vast majority of people here didn’t want this,” Coleman said. “We beat them 10 to 1. … We all agree that health care needs reform. We’re just opposed to the government taking it over.”

Good. Our socialist adversaries must learn that we exist. They need to run into walls of honest conservatives, not run unhindered.
Letting the government take over health care in order to fix it is like giving a mechanic the title to your car in order to get a tune up.
It’s worse, actually. At least a mechanic knows how to do a tune up.
I think a better analogy would be to give the title to your house to Bernie Maddof so he can invest and make money for you.
The MoveOn folks need to work on their sign making skills. Having everybody show up with the same 1 or 2 pre-printed signs makes them look like brainless drones. Oh wait…
OMG!! – 130 tea baggers were organized enough to show up at a specific location at the same time?
Wow – the chimps are starting to walk upright – this is amazing.
Obviously, that troublesome 1st Ammendment freedom of assembly, and right to petition the government for redress of grievances needs to be reigned in. It’s causing too much trouble.
From the article:
A few thoughts; this twit is either really stupid or totally brainwashed.
I wonder if her lack of imagination is due to the BDS she suffered from whilst Pres. Bush was in office.
Her statement is further proof that liberalism is a disease. Gee, if she is lucky, maybe they can include that in the final bill just for people like her.
Good for you Q Coleman and the rest of the Tea Party crowd.
The moveon people had a very small rally here yesterday. AFP, Maine Heritage and Hands of My Health Care had an indoor rally with Steven Moore from the WSJ also.
We had hundreds of people with standing room only while they had maybe a dozen down the street.
It was kind of funny that they were complaining and performing parodies of insurance lobbyists spending millions of dollars a day considering that Soros probably spends that or more on moveon.
ILMC – are you 12?
There is just something wrong with that person Misscheryl. I don’t think it has anything to do with age either.
It’s sad really to have to read such tripe.
I love it when the desperation begins to show up in a post, as the tide for their savior begins to turn.
Hey, did you knuckle-draggers hear that overall, 49% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Today marks the first time his overall approval rating has ever fallen below 50% among Likely Voters nationwide. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

Pssst – ILMC!
I think your math is a little off. Of the 130 people to show up, 30 were MoveOn dot Orgers – are you calling them T-baggers as well?
something stupid again and missing the entire point.
Sorry should have included a link it’s here.
And about 30 professional rent-a-mobsters from Moron.org showed up.
130 common, working, tax paying
citizens showing up on almost no notice is pretty impressive.
The fun part is they were teabagging your soul mates.
ILMC is proof that said chimps can also type.
But only 30 MorOn.org’s were organized enough.
So, the single-celled organisms haven’t yet figured out what this thing called “thinking” is yet.
Rush is talking about this now. Love it. Thanks tea party people, hang in there!
L
They were better organized than MoveOn – that’s huge.
Hatred, hatred, hatred… This is the voice of the left. Read it, remember, fight it.
i love my country so much i feel i must remake it into russia. this morning i saw a story on the late 50s meeting between krushev and nixon and how kruschev couldn’t believe a home in america would have a tv and a washer dryer. let’s all go back to central planned failure, it worked soooo well in russia, china, cuba, north korea, north vietnam, etc.
If you are in central Virgina (or want to visit)… tomorrow is the day for the Richmond Tea Party.
Ugh. We’ve been slimed by the slug.
There’s a real challenge this Saturday. Here in beautiful (but very liberal) Austin, Texas there’s a gathering in support of this awful health care legislation, and, therefore, there’s one of these counter-protests against it. There are lots of conservatives in Dallas, but Austin is a haven for liberals. If we can draw a bigger crowd here on their own turf, then that would be awesome. Any other Austinites reading this should show up this Saturday at 1:00.
We did the exact same thing in Seattle yesterday afternoon!! We found out that MoveOn.org was planning a pro-Obamacare rally outside of a Group Health clinic in Bellevue and on LESS than 24 hours we had an almost equal number of patriots show up to counter them!! It was amazing!
Again, they were shocked that they had any opposition, and we got so many honks and waves. I had a shocking (or not so shocking) conversation with a woman from the opposition. I’ve related it on my blog (so as not to have a giant comment here.) Keep it up! As I always say, when we show up, we win!!!

One more item. If you want to make a real difference, organize a Neighborhood Walk and get out there with the information! I have another post which links to ALL the resources you’ll need to set one up. Go here for those: http://redistributingknowledge.blogspot.com/2009/07/neighborhood-walks-against-obamacare.html
Also, try to plan your walk just ahead of the Obots’ walks! If you go to http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/search_simple?source=topnav you can type in your zip code and find out what they’re up to in your neighborhood.
Rush was saying Gov. Perry is threatening to do the 10th if this health thing passes. I live in TX and I hope so. I hope other states do the same. This bho has got to be stopped by the states, our elected in dc don’t seem to want to.
L
So much for any civility coming from the left. You are an insulting piece of crap.
I want it, I need it, I want you to pay for my needs.
Good job in countering the pervasive entitlement mentality by using more than a couple of your brain cells, LB.
Oh man, this is great! TEA puts the smackdown on moveon.org. YYYYESS!!
A few pre-printed signs paid for by George Soros, against a hundred or so hand-painted signs.
Who are the few brainless robots, and who are the many inspired, self-sufficient patriots??
I hope so too and I hope Oklahoma follows.
Yeah, those nerds from MoveOn are proof that at least some kind of evolution exists.
We “cheese-heads” have taken a derogatory term, owned it, neutralized it, ultimately making it a source of pride for our citizens.
I will from now on consider anyone who calls me or the people who believe as I do, “tea-bagger” as to be paying a compliment, for it is they who have identified us for standing up and being recognized for our duty to God and country!
Given your complete lack of intellectual prowess, it’s ironic for you to call them chimps.
Thanks for the article, Michelle. I haven’t this much fun since I was honored to be the profile camera operator for you at the July 4th Dallas bash.
BTW: the 130 estimate missed the scores of us that were 50 yards down at the Tollway intersection picking up traffic with their signs. Driver response was about 20-1 in our favor.
Its always nice to see citizens taking action. Especially conservatives. I would have been at the one in San Antonio but I was working.
We can start said reform by getting the government out of those aspects of health care that it’s already got its grimy paws into.
