USA Today columnist blames Peeping Tom victim

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 24, 2009 01:31 PM

Erin Andrews is an ESPN reporter. Some sick person planted hidden cameras in her hotel room and splashed video of her while she was dressing all over the Internet.

Andrews happens to be young, beautiful, and a stylish dresser — prompting USA Today columnist Christine Brennan to write on Twitter that Andrews is essentially to blame for the appalling invasion of her privacy.

Yes, she did:

Women sports journalists need to be smart and not play to the frat house. There are tons of nuts out there.

Erin Andrews incident is bad, but to add perspective: there are 100s of women sports journalists who have never had this happen to them.

Brennan repeated the same sentiments on a talk radio program.

I have a feeling Ms. Brennan would get along swimmingly with Bonnie “You deserve to be on a rape list” Erbe.

    Right.

    And muslim judges claim:

Al-Hilali invoked another Islamic scholar in support of his views: “But when it comes to this disaster, who started it? In his literature, writer al-Rafee says, if I came across a rape crime, I would discipline the man and order that the woman be jailed for life. Why would you do this, Rafee? He said because if she had not left the meat uncovered, the cat wouldn’t have snatched it. If you get a kilo of meat, and you don’t put it in the fridge or in the pot or in the kitchen but you leave it on a plate in the backyard, and then you have a fight with the neighbour because his cats eat the meat, you’re crazy. Isn’t this true? If you take uncovered meat and put it on the street, on the pavement, in a garden, in a park, or in the backyard, without a cover and the cats eat it, then whose fault will it be, the cats, or the uncovered meat’s? The uncovered meat is the disaster. If the meat was covered the cats wouldn’t roam around it. If the meat is inside the fridge, they won’t get it. If the woman is in her boudoir, in her house and if she’s wearing the veil and if she shows modesty, disasters don’t happen.”

Do ya think USA Today columnist Christine Brennan is muslim?

WSometimes they are and sometmes they aaren’t. What is the reason here? I’ll speculate

    1) Christine’s a liberal and Erin a conservative;
    2) Jealousy, which is what I speculate is insinuated;
    3) The hope that such incidents are controllable and that they can thus be prevented, which is what a girlfriend said to me regarding reaction to her rape.

It all came down to admitting that the were not safe and were indeed vulnerable. Taking a self defense class would be admitting that they could be a victimized even when they didn’t do anything wrong. It’s all about living in a fantasy world.

ESPN “worships” whichever Northeast team is dominant. If the Bosox were down, and the Yankees were up, they would be the worshipped ones. Same deal if both the Yanks & Sox were down and the Mets were up.

If you’re like me and get megamiffed when the media bow before The One, you’re saving yourself aggravation by eschewing ESPN. I’ve been trying to control my outbursts of anger at open displays of Obamalove recently, but I couldn’t take it when EVERY maddog story about the White Sox’s Mark Buehrle’s perfect game BEGAN and ended with mentioning that the Chisox are “Obama’s team,” all featuring his copycat announcement that Buehrle owes his teammates a steak dinner (In the post-game press conference, Buehrle himself mentioned treating the team when he threw his first no-hitter).

“It’s not about me,” sez He. Nonsense, it’s all about him, 24/7. Frevvinsakes, it’s even about Him when all he did was cheer about someone else’s extraordinary accomplishment after the fact. The only way it could have been worse is if He was actually at U.S. Cellular Field for the game (or, as He has re-named it, “Comminsky Field.”).

That bull/horse/chicken is on top of the nauseating MLB All-Star Game coverage that Obama co-opted last Tuesday. Fox News Channel treats him with skepticism (thank goodness), but Fox Sports couldn’t get enough of him. The Obama interview in the bottom of the second inning had announcers Joe Buck and Tim McCarver — who are paid to comment on what’s happening, y’know, on the field — blowing off covering the action for minutes at a time while the National League scored two runs.

If you have the game on video or TiVo/DVR, check it out; Buck & McCarver are so moist sitting next to the LOTFW they stopped calling pitches, and didn’t say a word about Chase Utley’s or David Wright’s first times at bat. Wright singled with two out, starting a three-run rally. They only stopped talking with Obama when Shane Victorino hit an RBI single, which McCarver credited to Obama because Victorino got good karma by giving BHO macadamia nuts before the game.

I am NOT making that up.

I wish I could post my evidence of the brown-nosing of the lefty-in-chief on YouTube, but I got busted earlier this week for posting video of my Giants’ Jonathan Sanchez’s no-hitter, which is “owned” by MLB.

Don’t forget WTKK with Michael Graham and Jay Severin. Although Jay is more Libertarian.

I see Brennan’s point ever so slightly, but her advice/suggestions should have been sent privately to Andrews in an e-mail or in person, not voiced in tweets or on radio shows in the condescending fashion she used.

Agreed; as a female who (in younger days) garnered her fair share wolf whistles and guys walking into walls (husband witnessed one such event and still talks about it, to the point of bragging) ;-) I never thought of those things as demeaning the way the NOW gang would like us to think – I wonder where Ms. Brennan comes down on the subject? (rhetorical question alert)

But being photographed surreptitiously as this Peeping Tom did to Miss Andrews is demeaning, not to mention illegal. I hope they prosecute the b**tard and she sues him for invasion of privacy or whatever other statute they can think of (one of the rare times I’d be on the side of a *blood-sucking lawyer*)

*Like I always say, it’s easy for a man to be a male, but it takes some effort for a man to be a man!

I’m with waltrec in liking – no, loving this quote. Just like I love a good man. :)

Oh, I’m not forgetting either one. The point of reference was my brother recalling how liberal WRKO used to be – and he’s old enough to remember when there were no FM stations like WTKK (gasp! so am I!) :-o

A comment or two of my own:

    1. This woman is gorgeous and has the right to flaunt it to her heart’s content.

    2. I am all for sexual freedom and the right to be able to speak freely about such things (as evidenced by a battle I participated in here recently), but what this a-hole did is far outside the realm of anything covered by any right he would possess, and is a clear violation of this woman’s own rights as well. Punish him to the fullest extent.

    3. Anyone who would try to blame this woman for what has happened is a lunatic. Her “crime” is simply undressing in her hotel room. This is like trying to blame the rape victim for flaunting her beauty in public and saying that causes people to act in violent ways. What a load of crap.

I’d agree if the reporter was doing something stupid, like walking out and about naked and was filmed. She was in the privacy of her room, and was filmed.

This is totally different from Private Bowe Bergdahl’s case, but I guess that’s lost on you.

Where has common decency gone in our culture?

    I mean, really…?

In a nation where misogyny, violence, and hate are considered “fair game” in so many of our communities, “common decency” is sadly dead. Standards for behavior that used to be considered essential for a thriving, vibrant people have been thrown into the sewer, in favor of stuff that that the left calls “real.”

It is a culture of death, because in its natural progression, communities that have embraced it are dying. They are crime-ridden, uneducated, paranoid, populated with unmarried mothers and fatherless children, roaming their streets looking for the next means to satisfy their basest desires. They are also ending an enormous number of their pregnancies in abortion, and thus lowering their notion of the value of human life.

And this is solely a leftist phenomenon. They feed into it in order to create people who are perpetually in need, with nothing within their communities to fall back upon. Their maintaining power in the country is dependent upon the crime-ridden, blood-soaked urban areas of the country, that are, naturally, the “bluest” spots you will find. Where culture has degenerated into the most base, barbaric notions of “standards” for what is and isn’t acceptable, the Democratic Party has ruled for many a decade, with no end in sight.

That is a simple, straightforward fact. It cannot be refuted.
